Great place for a group
We stayed here with two families. It was the perfect setup with one family in the main house, the other in the carriage house, and the kids in the twin bedroom. We rented a boat and enjoyed beautiful Lake Rabun, and also cooked great meals at the house. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The area is beautiful and we all had such a great time. Check-in was easy, the place was exactly as described (but better in person), and the welcome wine was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our time at Tame Turkey Camp and plan to return!

Sounds like a great trip. We're glad you enjoyed it!
We stayed here for thanksgiving. The kitchen was 100% equipped with everything we needed to cook the meal. When they say dog friendly they mean it. It has really been arranged to make it convenient to bring your furry family.
We use this place as an overflow for our Christmas holiday. This was perfect. We had several adults and small children. It was close to everywhere. We were only there for a couple of nights but we will definitely be back.
Very nice home for our trip to an archery tournament. Extremely dog friendly with leash holder right beside door, bowls and treats. Hardwood floors, comfy furniture and all the kitchen supplies you need! Would recommend and definitely would stay again if in the area! Thanks for opening your home!
Perfect location for a peaceful family getaway. Loved the property. Something for everyone to do. Hiking distance from the cabin to Angel falls. Short drive to lake Rabun beach area to put in kayaks and a swimming area for the younger ones. Minnehaha falls is a must see off the beaten track.
The six of us stayed over Thanksgiving week. The house and carriage house served our needs perfectly. The kitchen provided ample space for preparing Thanksgiving dinner. The surrounding area offers wonderful hikes and vistas. The house was accessible to my 89 year mother!
We rented the cabin for a women's retreat for our church ladies group. The cabin was perfect. There was plenty of room for us to hang out. We had room to cook and eat all together without being crowded. The downstairs was a little chilly at night and we couldn't get the gas heater to work (it was probably operator error).
Such a clean and wonderful house located in beautiful northern Georgia!
Close to so many hiking trails and waterfalls that you can’t even imagine!
Super peaceful and so well equipped that you can forget all your troubles, if you want to just get away and stay secluded or have a short drive (about 1.5 hours to Atlanta) to the night life of the big city this lovely location is a great base camp!
One of the most thoughtful for our pets also!
The house is beautifully decorated and equipped. It provided privacy and seclusion. For us, it was a little too far secluded to buy food and supplies or get a meal out. It sits in the forested area so there is no view, which is of importance to us but that is just us.

I wish you had contacted me about dining. There are two restaurants within 2 miles and two more within 5 miles
Too much to get into but to say the least… we found rat droppings throughout the kitchen.

From the owner:"I’m so sorry you had this experience. Our home is in the woods, which can sometimes invite nature a bit closer than we’d like. We do have regular pest control service, and I’ll be having them do an extra check to make sure everything is fully addressed. If anything ever comes up during a stay, please reach out right away so we can take care of it quickly and keep your visit as comfortable as possible."
Leah the owner of Tame Turkey reached out to us 11/8/2025 letting us know if there was anything we needed to let her know. Overall, the stay was comfortable, and the amenities were great. This was our first time visiting Tame Turkey (Lakemont, Ga.). The dirt roads were a bit of a surprise, but we made it to the house and the venue we were attending was only 10 to15 minutes away. Those roads were even more "adventurous". If the opportunity ever arises again, we will look into staying there again if available. Thank you for allowing us to bring our 5 dogs. It was a bit stressful for the dogs, but they would rather be with us. The kids loved it too. The 17-year-old decided to stay with her grandmother as it happened to be the grandmother's birthday. TMI, I know. Thanks again!
We didn't get the chance to enjoy the fire pit since it rained our entire stay. Still got to see deer in the yard!We had 6 adults and space was great. Met up with family to have a late Christmas and the cabin still had a Christmas tree, made it so homey. We cooked all our meals in the nice size kitchen. Plenty of room to play games, some are even provided.Even with the weather we enjoyed the interpretive center at Tallulah Falls and made the short drive over the Helen, Ga. Got farmers cheese and cider at the Old Sauteed Store and grits and pancake mix at the Nacoochee mill.Cabin was located perfectly and had fairly decent mountain roads. We would come again
My husband, two teenage girls, parents, and dog all stayed at the Lake Rabun cabin for Thanksgiving and had the best time! The kitchen was well-stocked and large enough for us to prepare our meals, and there was ample seating to accommodate us for meals and game nights! There was a nice chiminea outside with seating, but since it was so cold, only the kids were willing to brave the elements for their s'mores! The bathrooms were stocked, the hot water was ample, and the beds were so comfortable. The host was very quick to respond when I had any questions. I also appreciated the dog-friendly touches like the elevated food/water bowls. My parents enjoyed the carriage house, and the only suggestion they had was to provide a small microwave in the carriage house kitchenette area. Other than that minor inconvenience, we all loved our stay and would highly recommend it to all!

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, listing accuracy
No Hot Tub
The listing says there is a hot tub, but if there is, we couldn't find it. We also had to reach out to the leasing company because we never got the code for the door until we asked as we were driving to the house.
I considered rating less for "Accuracy of online listing" because this cabin is so much more than what was promised. Very well stocked kitchen, which is the first thing I always look for in a cabin. Large refrigerator, gas stove, toaster oven and so many dishes you could be a bum and not wash dishes for a week (please don't do that, but you really could). The silence is amazing! Near the end of the entry road so very little traffic passes. There is a wood stove fireplace and available fire wood. The drive to Terra Incognita is only about 2 1/2 miles which make this a perfect location if you are attending a wedding there. If you want to be near Lake Rabun (No lake view but we did not mind nor expect it) and have complete peace and quiet, this is the place!
