The property is set up very nicely and is quiet and a place to enjoy solitude. Communication with our host was responsive and quick to help us with issues. in terms of some critique, we found the Lighting in the beach house seemed a bit minimal, mostly coming from bedside lamps or table lamps. The stairs lacked sufficient light for late night/early morning trips to the first floor bathroom. These are small issues and we hope they will not deter future customers. Thanks to our hosts and Josie, especially, for their offering this place to relax and enjoy the surf.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I'm so glad the house felt peaceful and well-prepared, and that our team—Josie in particular—was able to help when needed.
I'm sorry the lighting didn’t meet your expectations, especially on the stairs. Safety and comfort are important to us, so we’ll look into adding brighter bulbs, improving stair lighting (including night lights), and reassessing lamp placement to boost overall illumination.
Thanks again for the helpful suggestions—they’ll be put to use. We hope to welcome you back soon!
Travelers need to be aware that Meredith Lodging, along with the actual host, enforce their rules in a manner that is upsetting and lacking in common decency. We reserved this house for a quiet retreat to celebrate my 50th birthday. When my daughter had a medical emergency, another family member and her baby came instead. We brought bedding for the baby because the description said that it “sleeps four.” We were four adults and a baby. While settling in we received scripted calls, claiming we had six people and an extra vehicle. Though we moved the vehicle immediately, the caller refused to discuss the situation reasonably. Calls and texts threatening fines and eviction continued into the night. A call at midnight woke us, causing panic over a potential family emergency—all because of a baby. This treatment was disrespectful and lacked basic decency.Instead of celebrating, we spent the night searching for alternate lodging. While we resolved the issue with a reasonable representative the next day, overall the experience was stressful and unpleasant. It appears the owners use security cameras for invasive surveillance and miscounted our group. Meredith Lodging treated the presence of a baby as a dire violation, resulting in menacing nighttime disruptions.Delightfully well-kept landscaping outside. The ocean view is stunning. There were multiple bookcases stocked with a variety of literature. Path to the beach is a bit overgrown, but manageable.

Thank you for the review and for sharing what worked well and what did not. I appreciate you calling out the well-kept grounds, the ocean view, and the selection of books — I'm so glad those features were enjoyable.
We strictly enforce the listing’s occupancy and parking rules to protect the property and neighbors, but never intended our communication to cause alarm. We do use exterior cameras for security purposes and that is advertised on the listing.
Thank you for the feedback — we’ll absolutely consider ways that our team can treat overnight occupancy violations with more discretion.
The location was great and the views from the house were incredible. The stairs to the beach were steep but easy to navigate. And the beach was secluded and the rocks at the north end were stuffed with starfish! Rated this place as a 4 because when we arrived, the gate was not working (stayed open) and the beds were unmade and no sheets were available. However, that said, management contacted me quickly with an apology and sent housekeeping out to the house the next day to fix the beds and peovide extra linens. Gate was not fixed so did not feel as safe as would have liked but I was thankful for their prompt solutions.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the location, views, and the secluded beach. We sincerely apologize for the initial issues with the gate and bedding. While we’re happy our team was able to promptly address the beds and linens, we understand your concern about the gate and will share your feedback with our property team to improve for future guests.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The property itself was good, lovely view and clean. Although it still had fresh paint smell. However, the electronic gate was malfunctioning and it disrupted our plans. Not only did we have to call several different times to get into the place, we were trapped on the property because our prius would not activate the sensor. This required us to leave our car and change our plans. The maintenance person even confirmed the gate was scheduled for repair the following week. The property should have either propped the gate open or not rented it until it was fixed. Unfortunately, despite several calls, the problem was not fixed and persisted for our entire visit.
