About this property

Winter is almost here. Spa, firepit and barbecue are ready for you.

The listing is for Tapia cottage, which sits at the front of the historic Tapia property originally built in 1865. The cottage offers modern comfort, peace and quiet, elegant surroundings and a good base of operations from which to explore all that the Wairarapa has to offer. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen double bed, and a mezzanine loft with two single beds. The living room has two sofa beds as well.

A heated spa pool (40 degrees) soothes sore muscles after a day of exploring the Wairarapa. A trampoline can keep the kids occupied. A 12 metre swimming pool allows relaxing cooling off on hot Wairarapa days. A fire brazier area lets you talk around the fire right next to the pool. The pool is heated in season and unavailable during winter and the colder months, from March to November. It is exclusively for guest use. The pool season depends on the weather and can start as late as December.

For the tree minded Tapia Cottage is home to the "Big Aussie", a eucalyptus reputedly the largest girthed. multi-stemmed eucalyptus in New Zealand at around 13 metres.

A Gen 3 Tesla Charging unit on 3 phase power provides up to 11kw. This can charge up to 80 kilometres per hour at 16 amps. It fits most EV brands. We ask for a $20 contribution to costs per charge.

A modern Weber gas barbecue (gas supplied) and hood helps out on those summer days.

Previous guests have used Tapia Cottage as a base to explore the region, to honeymoon, to rest before and after tramps in the Tararuas, to attend events in the Wairarapa, to reconnect with family and friends, to just have some time out, to enjoy the shortbread or all of the above. Bridal, hen and girl weekends have been particularly popular. Tapia Cottage is NOT a party venue. Neighbors enjoy the peace and quiet. Late checkouts can be negotiated.

There is also a Charcoal barbecue provided with utensils, bring your own charcoal.

Plentiful split dry old man pine/eucalyptus/acacia dealbata is stored for the burner and brazier. Back up 3 phase generator provides resilience in the event of a power cut.

Beautiful little property, so close to town yet tucked away in the country for a peaceful stay. The hosts were amazing with communication, even dropping off some delicious home made shortbread! Would definitely recommend staying here! Everything was so easy!
