The Space:

A dog-friendly studio in the Grand Lodge at the base of Mt. Crested Butte — an open, easy-care layout for travelers who want to bring their pet and cook between adventures.

➔ Sleeping: A king bed, plus a king Murphy bed that folds down at night, so four sleep comfortably in one open room.

➔ Kitchenette: Stove, mini fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cookware — guests cook breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in.

➔ Bathroom: One full bathroom with a tub.

➔ Pets: Dogs are genuinely welcome — easy in and out for walks, with trails and town a short stroll away.

➔ Building Amenities: Indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tub, gym, elevator, and a lobby with a fireplace.

3 Pros:

✔ A pet-friendly studio a short walk to the lifts, with a real cook-in kitchenette

✔ Indoor and outdoor heated pools plus a hot tub for after a day out

✔ A consistently top-rated unit — clean, quiet, and quick to respond

2 Cons:

✗ It's a pet-friendly building, so you may occasionally hear a neighbor's dog

✗ Built in 1999, a 3-star building with dated common areas; no A/C and no in-unit washer/dryer

Please Note: We do utilize a weblink outside the platform that directs guests to our guidebook. You will receive an email with this link. This is the ONLY way guests can access check-in information, and facilitates the collection of pet fees and other special requests/upgraded services we offer.

Guest Access:

You have the entire studio to yourself, plus full access to the Grand Lodge's shared amenities: the indoor and outdoor heated pools, hot tub, gym, and fireplace lobby. Check in yourself anytime with the keypad code — there's no front desk at the Grand Lodge, but we respond quickly by message. Your unit comes with free parking and easy in-and-out for walks with your dog. Shared amenities are operated by the building's HOA and can occasionally close for maintenance.

The Neighborhood:

The Grand Lodge sits at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, a short walk from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort lifts, with shops and dining right at the Red Lady Express base and the free town shuttle stopping steps away (it runs to town about every 15 minutes). Summer trails leave from the base, and a convenience store and coffee are close by. Historic downtown Crested Butte and its Elk Avenue — galleries, restaurants, and preserved Old West architecture — are about a seven-minute drive. The area is a year-round outdoor base: skiing and snowshoeing in winter; hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and wildflower season in summer. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive.

Getting Around:

You don't need a car here — the lifts, shops, dining, and a convenience store are all within a short walk, and the free town shuttle stops steps from the door (about every 15 minutes to historic downtown Crested Butte, roughly 7 minutes away). If you do drive, your unit comes with free parking. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive; Denver is roughly 4 hours.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The room was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. The facility had nice appointments including an indoor/outdoor pool and restaurants. We didn’t realize there was no air conditioning and the days were warm but cooled down comfortably in the evening and mornings. A box fan was provided and worked very well. Communication with management was very responsive and we appreciated the quick responses. The area is beautiful with hiking and shopping in town during the summer. It’s a lovely community. - Susan and Jim
