The space
Restorative by Nature is the name of this cozy lakeside guesthouse on Knowlton Lake in South Frontenac, Ontario. It is located along a forested gravel lane and is surrounded by trees, water, and natural beauty.
The guesthouse consists of a studio-style main floor with kitchen, dining, sitting, and sleeping areas; a small bathroom with shower; and a simple finished loft.
The KITCHEN area includes a fridge/freezer, toaster oven, microwave, portable induction cooktop, small slow cooker, BBQ on the private patio, coffee makers, kettle, cookware, dishes, and utensils.
For SLEEPING, there is one queen-sized bed. Bedding and pillows are provided.
The three-piece BATHROOM includes shower, sink, and toilet. Towels, face cloths, hand soap, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided for your use.
The LOFT is a simple, floor-based space and is accessed by a narrow staircase and a low entrance that requires bending, crouching, and moving carefully to get in and out. The loft has a large area rug, soft ambient lighting, a window overlooking the maple trees and lake, and a couple of small side tables. Some guests enjoy it for stretching and meditation.
The SITTING AREA includes two "lounge chairs", as well as a 43-inch tv in "roku tv guest mode". Guest mode lets you sign into your own streaming accounts while automatically erasing your sign in credentials and "resetting itself" at your scheduled checkout time.
Guest access
Guests have use of the guesthouse to themselves. They also have use of many of the nearby lawns on the property and the dock.
The guesthouse has its own private stone patio with seating, a smaller propane BBQ, trees, and lake views.
The lake is only steps away with opportunities for swimming, relaxing on the dock, kayaking, and paddle boarding. (Lifejackets must be worn. Information will be sent to you on the size of lifejackets that are provided here on site.)
This property faces west and provides a great place for watching the sunset over the lake. This is also a wonderful place to look up after dark and view the stars.
Other things to note
The guesthouse is located nearby the host’s year-round home. Trees and landscaping/layout creates a sense of some separation but they are nearby each other just the same.
Although the guesthouse is near the host's home, the dock and lakefront area feel fairly private in that docks from next door/neighbouring properties are not in view.
Knowlton Lake itself is a generally quiet location although particularly during the summer months, there *is* more activity such as from some motorboats, tubing, water skiing, Sea-Doos, and also gatherings elsewhere on the lake.
