About the host

Host profile image

We have a genuine love of animals and enjoy sharing that with guests. Ali is a qualified veterinary nurse and previously worked as a zookeeper, so animal care, welfare and education are central to what we do at Chandelle Park.

We are continuing to develop the Animal Experience side of the property and plan to welcome miniature donkeys in the near future, along with additional animals over time. Our aim is to create engaging, respectful and educational experiences that help visitors learn more about animal behaviour, care and wellbeing.

As Chandelle Park grows, we hope to offer suitable learning opportunities not only for staying guests, but also for school groups, tertiary students and other relevant community or educational groups. We want every interaction to be enjoyable, informative and centred on the welfare of the animals.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Tamar Valley because it offers the rare combination of peaceful country living, beautiful scenery and an exceptional range of experiences for visitors. Chandelle Park is surrounded by paddocks, native bushland and mountain views, yet it is still close to Exeter, Launceston and many of Northern Tasmania’s best-known attractions.

The Tamar Valley has something for almost every type of traveller, including renowned wineries and cellar doors, local produce, restaurants and cafés, historic towns, beaches, waterfalls, forest walks, wildlife experiences, museums, gardens and family attractions. Guests can enjoy a quiet day exploring the river and countryside, visit nearby lookouts and nature reserves, or take longer day trips to caves, alpine landscapes, heritage sites and coastal towns.

We particularly enjoy the slower pace, changing seasons, abundant wildlife and strong connection to farming and local produce. It is an ideal setting for Chandelle Park because guests can relax among the animals and bushland while also having plenty to see and do throughout their stay.

What makes this property unique

Chandelle Park offers more than accommodation. Guests stay in a spacious, private and self-contained Garden Studio surrounded by gardens, paddocks, native bushland and mountain views, while still being only a few minutes from Exeter and within easy reach of Launceston and the Tamar Valley’s wineries, attractions and natural highlights.

The studio includes a queen bed, private bathroom, heating and cooling, Wi-Fi, television, dining space and facilities for preparing simple meals. A complimentary continental breakfast is provided, including bakery items, fruit, local yoghurt, cereals, tea and coffee. Guests also have private outdoor seating, covered parking and direct access to the property’s marked walking tracks.

What makes the stay especially distinctive is the opportunity to spend time around Chandelle Park’s llamas, alpacas, sheep, miniature goats and chooks. Guests can book a supervised Animal Experience or Llama Walk, with every activity designed around calm interaction, education and animal welfare.

The property also offers approximately 900 metres of cleared bushland walking tracks, including Llama Lookout and Aurora Lookout. Native wildlife regularly moves through the property, including pademelons, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, echidnas, quolls, Tasmanian devils and many bird species, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Chandelle Park combines a quiet rural escape, meaningful animal encounters, bushland walks, wildlife and easy access to everything the Tamar Valley has to offer.
