This place was great. A lot of attention to detail that made everyone so comfortable. My kids had a blast in the game room and outside area. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to have family time!
We loved staying here. Property was perfect for our family of 4 humans and 2 dogs. Great yard, the kids loved playing basketball and volleyball and of course loved the game room. Our dogs loved the space to run and I liked the fenced in place for them play safely. Location is great and the home is beautiful.

Thank you for staying with us Miranda! We are so happy you all had a wonderful time and we hope you made lots of incredible memories! It was our pleasure to host your family.
We had a fantastic time at the Trout Lodge with our family of five (three boys ages 3, 5, and 8) and our nanny. The property was very large, with a fully fenced in back yard that allowed us to relax worry-free as the safety boys explored the grounds (and of course enjoyed the super fun game room). The cabin itself was well appointed and comfortable, with plenty of room for us all. Jorge and Monique were fantastic hosts and very responsive! We would definitely stay there again!
We had a wonderful time staying at this awesome location! We loved watching our favorite shows on the big screen and having pool and air hockey tournaments in the game room. We slept wonderfully and enjoyed the grounds, especially the hot tub, hammocks, and fire pit. The owners were super nice and communicated often and we were very comfortable and pleased with our stay!! Thank you so much for opening up your beautiful home and making your listing so inviting, we were impressed at how truly wonderful it really was!

This rental is next level - everything is decorated to the cabin theme, there is a huge yard full of activities, the separate game room is a blast, there is ample seating for everyone and they provide everything you could need. The entire group agreed that this was the best rental property we had ever stayed in. The host go above and beyond and think of everything. 100% recommend!
Our stay at Trout Lodge was our favorite stay in Big Bear. The owners, Monique and Jorge, have done an exceptional job preserving the history while updating the cabin. The game room was a big hit for us. The owners have put themselves in the shoes of renters and thought of everything. We truly appreciate all the details and all the TV’s! We stay at 3-4 vacation rentals a year and this is the best one!

Thank you for choosing our cabin for your Big Bear stay! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the kind words. We work so hard to make sure our guests have the most amazing time possible and enjoy all the comforts of home.
I’ve rented many homes (around this price category) in the big bear area over the years and none have been this well appointed and none have been this well managed. The pictures do not do the property justice. Property is huge and feels very private.
Thank you to the Santiago’s for sharing this beautiful property.

Place is magic, makes any concerns just disappear. Every aspect is a surprise - for the better. Everything is big and beautiful, finishes are great, and the hosts have thought of everything. Amazing property, amazing game room. Clean, warm, ready in every way. While family enjoyed the beautiful yard too. Hosts were the same: magical, amazing, warm. Communication with them is a true treat.
All in all, easily the best vacation rental trip we've ever had.

You guys were truly a treat to host; your family and pup are the sweetest! Knowing your past profession fit the trout theme of the property was just fate 🎣 So glad you all enjoyed yourselves , and we sure hope you come back soon 🐻
I dont even know where to being. 5 stars is not enough. Jorge and Monique are amazing host. Everything you need or want is available. They truly thought of everything, from sports outside the cabin like 🏐🏀🏈⛳️ to games inside🎮🕹🎱🥌. Plenty of outdoor activities for the whole family on the 1 acre lot its HUGE!. Lets not forget making smore's or having a drink around 15 person firepit ♨️The location of the Cabin is perfect. 5 minutes from restaurants, stores and Zoo. And of course the awesome game room with pool table, air hockey, 3 tvs, xbox, Arcade machine and even board games. My wife and I had a great time seeing our Adult children turn back into kids was the best feeling for us. Also relaxing into the jacuzzi after a long day of snowboarding ( more like falling ) lol was a big bonus. We absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking to spend some quality time in the mountains. Everything about this place is truly beautiful from scenery to the home decor. We cant stop bragging about this place and have been the envy of all or friends and family. I can go on and on, but honestly Jorge and Monique really care about their guest and where real good at communicating with me and all my crazy questions. Dont look no further and don't second guest yourself, just book! 😊

Eric thank you for taking the time to write such a stellar review- WOW! Knowing you and your family spent such memorable quality time at Trout Lodge means the world to us! Family is everything, and making memories with them is what life is all about- thank you for letting us play a part in yours. Hope to host you all again soon
Let me start by saying I've stayed at hundreds of hotels and home rentals over the years and I've reviewed them, both good and bad. This is one of the best places I've ever stayed.
The owners have created a beautiful and luxurious yet fun and relaxing place to be. They've thought of everything you could want including an amazing separate structure with pool table, air hockey, video games, TV's etc. The property itself is huge and fenced, with hammocks under the trees, as well as outdoor games areas. There is a huge gas firepit with seating as well as the cleanest hot tub I've ever seen at a rental.
Then there's the house itself. It is so well decorated in true Big Bear cabin style, with some upscale choices like hammered copper sinks and stone enclosed showers. There are TVs in each bedroom with Roku, a double wine fridge for both your whites and reds, even cute bear paw cabinet handles in the kitchen and unique plates and bowls etc.
As a wonderful welcome gift they provide s'mores makings to use at the fire pit.
The location is great, super close to groceries stores and only minutes from The Village with its shops and restaurants and yet it is quiet and relaxing even during the day. The owners were communicative and available for any issue and texted just to see how we were settling in and if we needed anything.
There's so much to do in Big Bear in any season and this is definitely the place to call home while you're there.

Wow LeeAnn, I gotta say that out if all our reviews on several platforms, you win! This is such an incredible review, one that all hosts strive for. Thank you not only taking the time to write down your feedback for other potential guests, but for beings such a wonderful guest yourself! It was truly our honor to host you and your family; you all are welcome back anytime 🐻
The cabin is so magical and transformative, you can’t help but fall in love with the experience
This cabin will knock your socks off. Every single detail is so thoughtful and charming, and so very much appreciated. From the chandeliers to the light switches to the furniture, the moment you walk it you are engulfed in cabin life and you just become a part of the experience. This is exactly the get away we were looking for for us and our 5 and 4 year old.
There was so much space for everyone to enjoy. The living room has the most comfortable and massive couch with a spectacular tv. The kitchen table is big enough to eat on half and puzzle or play games on the other half. The beds are INSANE! If the beds are buttery soft, then the sheets are margarine. Even our kids slept in (major win). The kitchen has all top quality appliances and all gadgets you need (it even comes with spices and cooking necessities).
And that was just the main house! The porch has a fantastic hot tub with a tv over it, and a wonderful (and easy) grill that’s hooked up to gas. The game room is just a few steps off the porch. Even in the snow, it didn’t feel too far. Its stocked with an insane amount of massive TVs, air hokey, fooseball (disguised in the cutest sneaky coffee table convertible / game table piece of furniture), classics arcade games and the most beautiful log pool table. The couch in there turns into a bed, plus there’s plenty of room for air mattresses.
I’m not even done! The yard, is insane! HUGE! We’re from California where land is a luxury we don’t get. We were shocked when we saw how big it is! It has volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, fire pit and put put golf. We didn’t even leave the property we were so fulfilled. But the town is just down the street. You’re a few blocks away from CVS, Starbucks, restaurants and there’s a mini golf lot that’s walking distance.
Heads up the fireplaces require you to be able to build a fire, no duraflame logs, so get your Scout hat on and start rubbing sticks together. But that was all part of the experience! We also brought a lot of young kid toys with us, which we’re glad we did. The house is stoked with amazing board games and video games, but if your kids aren’t quite that age, be sure to pack some of their age appropriate toys.
The owners were communicative and attentive when needed, but let us have our space. We were able to seamlessly move in and feel like the place was our own. We are 100% coming back, and can’t wait for our kids to continue to build memories here.
Trout Lodge is arguably one of (if not THE best) rentals my family and I have ever stayed in. Beautiful attention to details, extremely comfortable with all thought to the guest in mind, extremely clean and everything in working order (we used the spa, grill, fire pit, arcade games, air hockey table, watched TV, tether ball and basketball). My family and I had an amazing time and we can’t wait to visit again!
Spectacular property. We had a great escape with three generations. Some big bear properties throw a pool table in the garage and charge more. This rental has an amazing gaming center made from a restored Bait House. This property is truly high end with everything done with the guest in mind; it's enchanting. Though dogs are welcome, the cleaning is thorough with no trace of smell or hair. The house is walking distance to the zoo and a paved trail leads to Big Bear Blvd. You'll find no better nap than in the hammocks and living room is perfect for movie night. Everyone will be happy here.
This property is too perfect for words. The location is ideal; Very close to the main strip in Big Bear but when you are at the cabin you have peace, quiet and privacy. I never wanted to leave the backyard 😊 The hammocks and the trees were my favorite. I have 2 diverse kiddos but they always found something to do. My daughter enjoyed the golf, volleyball and corn hole. My son loved the hot tub and XBox. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and we enjoyed an awesome dinner using the fabulous grill. I could go on and on about all of the things I loved about the house itself (wooden bunkbeds, tables, rocking chairs, decor, etc....) but you'll have to see if for yourself. What stands out the most though is probably the communication and accommodations of the owners ❤ Monique was friendly, warm and welcoming and responded so quickly to every question I had (AND I HAD A LOT 😉)! She even went out of her way to get a few items to me that we'd left behind. I'm already trying to figure out when I can get back there.
Thank You so very much Jorge & Monique for sharing your perfect home with us.

Thank you Sasha for such a kind review. It was truly our pleasure to host you and your family! That makes me happy to hear that everyone found their own piece of happiness at our cabin, we want everyone to enjoy their time at Trout Lodge! We hope you all come back soon 🐻
The cabin is easy to find, plenty of parking and above all dog friendly! My fiance and I stayed with our 4 kids ages 10-13. All had a great time. There are plenty of board games for kids to play with, TV with netflix, movies, etc. The back yard is large and completely fenced in. Felt safe and secure. Will book again !!
This property is excellent inside and out. It is perfectly kept.
The hosts were incredible answering any questions you had immediately. We were with my teenage grandsons which are always hard to please and they preferred staying in the cabin than going out and doing things. That’s how comfortable it was. They had Nintendo so they were happy
Thank you Monique for being there when I had questions I spite of not feeling well. I really appreciate it
I hope we can come back to your property different time of year to enjoy the back yard even more
Recommend this property 100%

About the host
Hosted by Jorge and Monique Santiago
We are Business Owners and have always dreamed of owning a home in Big Bear, it’s only a two hour drive from L.A. but feels like a world away from the hustle & bustle! We have been married for over 29 years and have 5 amazing children. Family and quality time are important to us, which is why we purchased a home in beautiful Big Bear. We set-up the cabin as if we lived there, so rest assured it will have all the comforts of home and everything you need for an unforgettable getaway!
Why they chose this property
This property is unique with its 1 acre of fenced property encasing nearly 100 Jeffrey pine trees. The cabin is newly renovated and has the luxury cabin feel with all the modern comforts like gourmet kitchen with large windows overlooking the property with woodsy views, and allows you to keep an eye on the kids while cooking. Furnished with high end custom log furniture and a warm open concept, 2 stove fireplaces, huge dining room table for gatherings, and walk-in spacious stone showers. The cabin has large smart flat screen TV's, the Nest central heat and AC, high speed internet for working and remote schooling.
The real beauty is outside though! My favorite spot to have my morning coffee is on the large deck! Our comfy outdoor furniture allows you to work on the laptop while watching the kids play, or simply relax in the hot tub and watch a movie while the warm jets massage you. The gas BBQ is ready for you grillers to serve your family on the massive custom outdoor log table...some say they never even use the indoor table because it's just too gorgeous in the warmer months!
Beyond the deck is an enormous gas fire pit with plenty of seating for delicious s'mores and campfire stories! A basketball hoop, a volleyball net, tetherball, 2 hammocks, horseshoes, corn hole, golf putting green (1 hole), and a walking trail on the backside of the property are several of the amenities that make our home unique; there's so much to do you don't even need to leave the property to have a great time!
So many have chosen our cabin because of all it has to offer, especially in times like these. For those of us that are trying to isolate, yet NEED a getaway, this is a great choice! We take our cleaning and sanitizing procedures seriously, we want to keep our cleaning crew, maintenance crew, and guests stay happy and healthy!
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique with its rich Big Bear history and the sheer size is something you don’t often find on the mountain. Our 1 acre of FENCED property offers a safe space to let your children and dogs roam freely in your own little slice of Big Bear heaven.
Trout Lodge used to be called “Alpine Trout Lakes”, a place where kids were guaranteed to catch fish! They filled the pond with trout and sold memberships or day passes at the “Bait Shop”, where they also rented fishing tackle and gutted the fish for you. The now empty pond can be found on the trail behind our cabin (on the other side of the fence). So many locals and tourists made wonderful memories on our property, which is why we try to pay homage with the trout theme and naming our game room, “The Bait Shop”.
