Beautiful Vacation Home

This was a beautiful property and the condo was exceptionally clean and well decorated. Unfortunately there was a pipe leak the night before our trip. They had quickly fixed the leak but the carpet in the master’s room was wet and smelt for the days of our weekend stay. They informed me about the leak about an hour before check in and offered a full refund or small discount. Since we travelled from a three hour road trip we decided to stay as there were no affordable vacancies in the area. All in all the facilities on site were amazing and we spent the time outdoors. The condo would have been a perfect stay if not for the mishap. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

A perfect beach getaway

We stayed in this comfortable, beautiful condo for a 4 night beach vacation, and we could not have chosen a better place. It looks exactly like the pictures and everything more than met our expectations. Can’t wait to go back!!

The facilities were fantastic. This was our first time renting in the community and we found it so welcoming, convenient and cost efficient. The communication was fluid and very responsive although we did not have any issues that affected our trip on the whole. The shuttle, the beaches, the pools, and the community blew us away and we can’t imagine vacationing in another spot.

Sea Colony is a great place to stay in Bethany. This unit was perfect for our family. My daughter loved the loft space and there was enough room for this family of 4. Beds were comfortable and everything was in good working order.

House was great for a long weekend getaway. Had everything we needed. Easy access to Tram and beach. Single serve K-cup was not noted in amenities but was available for use. Missing closet door in Master bedroom, but otherwise as pictured. Would recommend for families and would stay here again. Vacasa was very helpful and responsive for any needs.

The home inside was clean. Kitchen and bathrooms were spotless. Wifi worked well. Very good shower and water strength and kitchen has a brand new refrigerator and everything you need to cook. I think the VACASA could leave more than one dish towel. Also, the reason that I booked this particular property was that I was attracted to the picture of the back deck with the green trees. Actually, the back deck needs to be cleaned. The gutters were stuffed with pine needles. The pillows on the outdoor furniture are moldy. There is no box to put the cushions in to keep them clean. I noticed that this comment was made several years ago by someone who is there as well. Staff must not be checking the back area. The front steps also needed to be swept as well as the entry rug . I feel that we were unable to use one of the main attractions of the house. However, I will say that the Vacasa staff based at the Marketplace could not have been nicer.

Attractive, clean interior, but disappointed

The property looked inside as advertised on kitchen and bathrooms were very clean as was the living room. The kitchen has been redone and offers a large refrigerator. There are plenty of pots and pans, although Picasso could certainly lead more than one dish towel!The disappointing factor was that one of the reasons I chose his property was because of the pretty porch and the view of the trees. However, we were not able to use the porch because the lawn furniture was dirty and had mold. The gutters above were full of leaves and debris. There is no outdoor storage bin in which to place the cushions so they are weather beaten to me. This was the loss of a complete room for the length of our stay. The other thing that would help would be to have a printed set of directions for how to operate the TV. It is confusing to try to hook onto your own video channels that you may have and then figure out how to get off of them so that you’re not leaving your account on the TV. The location is extremely good though next to the tennis and racquetball area. Also, it’s right across the street from one of the pick up stations for the local bus and around the corner from an outdoor pool. I must also say that the personnel at the Bethany Beach Vacasa office we’re in incredibly nice and helpful.!

Improvements Needed

the interior of this condo was lovely. However, the bathrooms are very small, especially the showers. And the pillows need upgraded. The deck was a mess. It was not clean, the seat cushions are moldy, one of two umbrellas is broken, and the table is badly damaged. The garbage was to be collected and taken out, but we didn't know where to take it. That needs to be clearer. Check in is 4:00 p.m., later than the norm and the property office closes 1 hour later. Check out is also earlier than the norm. If check in is not until 4:00 p.m. guests checking out should be able to leave their cars on the property, and enjoy going to the beach on the tram, instead of trying to find a place to park.

Very nice property

Overall - very nice property. Though we had one big complaint - not only does the thermostat have preset max settings, but those settings are very restrictive. We stayed on New Years and the maximum heat setting on the thermostat is 72F. You cannot set it higher! I find that extremely paternalistic and obnoxious, to be honest. Seriously mom, you're going to limit my thermostat settings? We measured the actual air temperature in the apartment and it was 68F. We were all cold the first night and kids had to put on long sleeve clothes in the middle of the first night. Second night was better, after heating the apartment for 24 hours and using extra blankets. Wouldn't a max setting of at least 75F make way more sense?

Great Stay, Few Comments ...

The condo was perfect for the 2 of us. Great location in Sea Colony, close to everything we wanted. Few comments: 1) Never happy with the check-in process at Vacasa who handles the condo. Just given an envelope at their desk, no friendliness. Just the 1 guy who greeted us briefly was friendly. And, DON'T ENTER UNTIL 4PM. Really? At 315pm we cannot enter after a long drive from NJ? 2) Getting into the condo the first time was confusing. Had to ask another guest how the keypad works. Nowhere did it say hit the "check" button after the numeric keys. Also to lock - no help on that. Figured it out after trying to enter the numeric code and heard it click lock. 3) No extra toilet paper again. Had to buy some at CVS. 4) Outdoor pools DON'T SEEM HEATED. Heated means maybe high 80's, not 80 degrees. 5) The tram and van drivers are outstanding people. Phil in particular was super nice and helpful to us. R. Blaha

Lovely home but terrible maintenance issues and responsivenes

We were so excited about our beach vacation to celebrate the end of school, and on sight the condo is lovely - great location, small but well used space for a family of four. Sadly, our beach getaway was disrupted due to a significant plumbing issue and very poor service/communication from Vacasa. We entered to an awful, musty cat-pee smell and discovered a big wet spot at the entrance to the primary bedroom. We texted Vacasa immediately to let them know there was an issue and were told someone would get back to us. We had to eat out instead of settling in while we tried to air out the smell. We received no follow up communication, but the next day we returned from the beach to find someone had set up a fan on the wet spot (which was bigger) and there was a plumber in the unit who told us he would have to come back, with the owner’s permission, to open the wall. Having still heard nothing from Vacasa, we stopped by the local office and requested that the property manager contact us about next steps. We got a call from the carpet guy letting us know that the smell was caused by the wet backing of the berber carpet and would go away when the carpet dried, but of course since nothing was being done to address the leak there was not chance of that happening soon. We finally receive a call back (the only communication from the local management team that we ever received) letting us know that they needed to have the plumber come back. We agreed that the plumber would come back the next day at 11am/noon, as it was already late. Meanwhile, the leak and the smell got worse. The next day we went to the beach, hoping things would be resolved by the time we got back so we could enjoy our last night in the condo. We repeatedly requested updates from Vacasa and were told the local team would follow up. We never heard from a member of the local team again. We returned to the condo to find the hot water turned off and no signs that anything had been done. While we were showering, the plumber let himself into the unit using a key code. No heads up that he was coming, no knock—clearly a violation of Vacasa’s rental agreement. The plumber told us that issue could have been resolved sooner, but the owner wasn’t answering their phone. Since he needed to turn the water off, we went out to dinner (again) instead of cooking at home. The plumbing issue was finally resolved at 8pm on our third/last night at the beach. The carpet remained wet and smelly the whole time. We could not be certain from night to night that we would have a place to sleep with functioning plumbing and (barely) breathable air. It was not at all relaxing. We spoke with “supervisors” at Vacasa multiple times who promised escalation and response and never followed up. Instead, we spent our vacation dealing with service people and managing other people’s maintenance issues.

Great rental

Sea Colony is a very peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. This property is very cozy and set up well. The only thing I would improve on is the kitchen and preparedness for renters. I would have liked to have been able to leave behind basic items like spices, sugars, coffee, etc but this is not encouraged. We like to do family dinners so it would have been nice to know to either bring these items or allow to leave them so that others didn’t have to buy them on their way in. Also, a crockpot and griddle would be very cost effective items to have while cooking. Not deal breakers, but certainly a way to improve things for renters. Otherwise, this place is great and we look forward to booking through vacasa next year!

Really nice place to stay. Could use an upgrade to the coffee maker to a single serve type & have supplies more readily available like trash bags. Also, the inspector’s schedule caused us to have to check in late.
