We had a wonderful stay at this VRBO! The host was absolutely amazing. She gave us great ideas of things to do with our young kids and made us feel at home. We loved the house! It’s updated nicely and is cozy. Highly recommend staying here. Centrally located so you can be to all the great tourists sites within 10-15 minute drive and some you can even walk too.
This is a great place to stay in San Antonio. Some great restaurants within a couple miles, downtown not far away. A bit chilly in February, but our host took good care of us.
This house gave us nostalgic feelings - because it had the historical charm of houses we grew up in/experienced. The house has been updated for a current-day comfortable stay while keeping the historical integrity of the house intact. We did initially have some question about the location of the house; however, we (women) felt comfortable and safe. One previous guest/reviewer commented that he heard trains all night. We did hear trains on occasion, but it was not disruptive and did not interrupt our sleep. The location was great - close to shopping, the River Walk, and a grocery store. The proprietors could not have been more responsive and engaging.
The location is a convenient drive to all the attractions throughout San Antonio. The interior of the home is cute and clean, beds were comfortable. Provided the basic necessities for our weeklong stay. Communication with the host was always prompt and helpful.
Property was very charming and clean! Each room was decorated with beautiful furniture and comfortable beds. The host was very accommodating to our needs and did a great job communicating all of the details as well as answering all of our questions. The location was great! A short drive to downtown near plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping! Would definitely visit again!
My mom and I booked this for our girls trip to San Antonio. House was beautiful with its historic charm, open concept, and very clean. Very accessible to all the things we wanted to do. Slept well in comfortable beds and linens. I definitely recommend and would book this home again for a return trip. Thank you for having us!
Our family had a wonderful experience with Destin and his property. The home was beautiful. Clean, bright, comfortable. We appreciate all of the things done to make us feel at home. We safe and at home. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience in San Antonio.
Beautiful property that us thoughtfully appointed. We loved the close proximity to all of the main attractions in San Antonio.
Hosts were very quick to respond to messages. The home us beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. I personally loved the refurbished original flooring. It is lovely.
If we are ever back in the area, we would definitely book this location!
We had a lot of fun at this house! They have board games that the kids really enjoyed. The one bathroom made things a little difficult with how many people we had stay there, but it wasn’t too bad. The owners of the property were prompt and responsive to any messages I sent them. The neighborhood driving in doesn’t look very appealing, but we had no issues at all with out stay in regards to the neighborhood. A park right across the street where we took the kids was awesome! We will definitely stay again next time we come visit San Antonio. Thank you Destin and Mara

Nice place, but.....
This is a very old but very nice place. Very roomy, charming, clean, but...... TRAINS, all night long. The shirt amount of time we spent there during the day, the neighborhood was quiet. However the two nights we were there on queue around 1030pm, the trains start rolling in very close to the house, clackety clack and the conductor laying in the horns constantly through the hours of the morning. As if they want to run everyone out of the neighborhood which does seem kind of abandoned. The owners did a fine job upgrading this nice old home, but something has got to be done about the nearby trains. I did not sleep well.
Great place, close(ish) to downtown, not the greatest neighborhood
Pros:
The house is a really nice, old house with a lot of personality. It looks to be well maintained and clean. It is comfortable for 3 to 6 people. The living and dining area is a great place to hangout. The kitchen has ample space. The washer and dryer were nice to have. The oven is a great gas range/stove top that is great to cook on and there are plenty of utensils and dishes to get the job done. The hosts also left a few snacks, water, juice, and a bottle of wine so that was a nice touch. The yard has a fence and a walk through gate plus a drive through gate which adds some security. It won't keep a determined person out but it helps, and this is what ultimately sold us on this property.
Cons:
There are a few missing or inadequate utensils (no pizza pan which isn't a big deal, the can opener at the house didn't work well at all so bring one if you're going to need one), there was some kind of burrito thing in the microwave when we got there and another one in the bottom of the trashcan (below the liner). There isn't a proper driveway and the drive through gate is fairly narrow, but as long as you pay attention it's not too hard to get in and out. The neighborhood isn't terrible but there are some apartments next door and the neighbors were a little loud a few times, but it was mostly not too bad. One night someone set off fireworks at 2:00 AM in the street. Not sure what that was about, but it's not the fault of this property or the host. Again, the neighborhood isn't terrible it just isn't the nicest.
Other things of note:
There isn't a dishwasher but I don't count that as a Con because it's not that hard to hand wash dishes and it motivated us to clean up completely after every meal. Besides, there were plenty of cleaning supplies there. We didn't have any spare bin liners but I contacted the host and the next day when we came back from Sea World there was a box on the porch. Communication was great. I believe there is an on demand water heater for the bath because it took a minute or two to heat up. Once it did it was plenty hot and had enough capacity for 4 showers/baths back to back to back. My wife takes super hot baths so if she doesn't complain in the number 3 slot you're good to go. I don't think the kitchen sink had hot water. It never got hot.
All in all this was an enjoyable stay. It was great to come home from our day to cook and relax.
The house was nice, clean and relaxing. Beds were comfortable and kitchen stocked.
The neighborhood is up and coming with close proximity to downtown.
The walking trails and park that are across the street were an added bonus.
