Generously sized family getaway this cabin has tons of space to gather indoors & out. Relax in comfort in the greatroom w/its tongue and groove walls, ceiling fan, wood-burning stone fireplace & row wall of windows that showcase the landscaping, mountain & river views. Adjacent kitchen outfitted w/granite, custom cabinetry, SS appliances, & full size pantry. Dining area features elegant chandelier, a table for 6 & there's seating for four at the breakfast bar. Screened porch serves as an outdoor living room. Master suite w/double french doors open to the mountain view deck. Ensuite bath has jetted tub, dual sinks, custom cabinetry w/extra storage, tile floors & a separate tile shower. Master bedroom & all of the main living areas has wide plank pine flooring. Off the rear hallway, there is a powder room and a laundry room w/sink. Up the staircase to the 2nd fl. you'll find 2 oversized bedrooms, a loft area overlooking the greatroom & a bath w/dual vanity & tub/shower. Porch surrounds 3 sides of the home. A stone fire overlooks the river. The grounds features many large flat areas perfect for playing games or hosting gatherings. 3 miles from downtown Hiawassee w/its entertainment and restaurants & 4 miles to closest public boat ramp, several US wildlife parks w/ miles of hiking and biking trails

The property is beautiful as described. We enjoyed our time at River Gem. The road going to the property has a shockingly steep portion, but once you are used to navigating it, it is very doable. The beauty of the home and property is worth the short drive off main road. Our only problem was that a question we had was not addressed in a timely manner. We texted the number provided and did not get an answer and then messaged through VRBO and got a delayed response. Property manager was alerted that we saw a rodent.

Thanksgiving Vacation

This cabin was exactly as described. Beautiful inside and out. Just steps away from the river, with awesome surrounding views of the mountains. The cabin has plenty of everything you need for a stay their. Very roomy and comfortable and easy to get to as it’s pretty close to town. Will definitely stay there again.

Definitely a Gem!

This house was fantastic! There were no negatives about this house and the yard and creek were fantastic! They have everything you need. The only thing I would say would be having a can opener (they have a hand held one which is fine but it doesn’t work) and the coffee maker looked great on the outside but when you go to fill up the water it was gross so we opted for Starbucks which wasn’t so bad either if you like to go. We enjoyed going to the Hiawassee Brewery which was about a 5 minute drive. We are thinking about renting this house again when we can take time off in the next year or so. A plus was all beds and pillows were fantastic! That’s not always the case when renting or staying in hotels. I highly recommend this house! Thank you for renting to us!

Beautiful and peaceful

This place is like the perfect little mountain get away. The river was shallow and gentle enough for the kids to play and tube in. We had a few days when it was raining too so the kids spent time playing air hockey and basketball so those things were a God send. We did have a bit of a scheduling problem (which was 100% my fault) and Robyn was amazing fixing it and getting it all straightened out. It was so gorgeous and relaxing, I highly recommend!

Wonderful Relaxing Stay

We had a wonderful time staying at this gorgeous, well-appointed, cabin by the Hiawassee River. It felt very secluded and yet was close to town and Lake Chatuge. One of our favorite parts of our stay was sitting outside listening to the sound of the flowing river and the chirping birds. There were plenty of games and activities to keep the children engaged while the adults were able to sit back and relax. We had a great time!

Beyond expectations!!

I rarely provide property reviews but this review must be written. We had six family members together for a week at this beautiful property. The property certainly lives up to it's name...it is definitely a river gem. Such a unique property is a rare find, being that two sides of the property is bordered by the river. The location is quiet and yet still a short drive to gas and grocery stores. We found Hiawassee to be a great place for outside activities for the kids. Helen is just a short drive south. The property management team was professional and responsive, even on the weekends. I hope we have the opportunity to stay at the River Gem again.

Property was breathtaking

This home was the perfect stay for a Thanksgiving getaway with two couples and two babies. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The property/views are even better than the photos. One thing to note is that the driveway is very steep, and with bad weather it would be very difficult driving up if you don’t have 4 wheel drive. We did have some issues with the WIFI password and the Nest thermostat being locked upon our arrival. The house was very cold inside and we were unable to turn on the heat. We were unable to get in touch with the property owner for several hours, which was concerning as the temperatures were going to drop into the 20s that night. We finally managed to get in touch and the issues were resolved, but that process was a little stressful. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful. The mountain views all around the house and the creek running through were so relaxing. The property was huge, with plenty of space for the babies to play outside. The fire pit down by the creek looked great, but it was too cold during our stay to be outside at night. This place seems like it would be awesome all year round!

Secluded Cabin

This cabin was absolutely beautiful. The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen was great with everything you needed to cook. It was very secluded with a little stream in the back so it was so nice to have that much privacy. Our family really enjoyed it and would visit again.

Very private property right on the river/creek.

The house was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were very pleased with the wrap around deck and screened enclosure. There is either a creek or river about 150 ft behind the house that was fun to wade in. The property is very close to the center of Hiawassee but it feels very private since their are trees ringing the expansive lawns. I would like to let the owner know that the Nest AC system quite often switched the temperature up to nearly 80 while we were gone for the day. It cooled off quickly when we got home but it was a little frustrating for us to come home to a warm house in the summer heat.

Everything you need and more

We. Had. A. Blast. This rental was perfect for us. Not only was the property clean and had comfy beds, BUT the river behind the house was perfect. We were able to just hang out and float in the river whenever we wanted without having to mobilize everyone to an official tubing place. There is a little rapid just up the river that we would walk up to and then float down a million times. Then we even got adventurous, drove up the road with our tubes, dropped in further up the river, and floated back down to the cabin. A super cool feature of this place. It was extra peaceful and private too because the nearest neighbors are pretty far away. The screened-in porch was perfect at night to keep the bugs away. The kitchen was stocked with all the kitchenware we possibly could have needed. The wraparound deck is huge and thus perfect for everyone to hang out on at once. We couldn't have imagined a better stay.

Great Cabin

The house is just as nice as pictured on the listing. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need to cook most anything. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are nice. The only thing I would change about the bedrooms are the blinds that are kind of see through. The master bath is very nice with a large tub and giant vanity area. The views of mountains and river are very pretty. We had a little trouble finding the place. The owner sent us directions because the house isn’t on GPS but we still got confused. We figured it out though and got there without much delay. It’s a nice place and we had a good time even if no one caught any fish. I think it would be fun to go back in warmer weather. Thanks for the use of your beautiful home.

The property was amazing and the pics don't say enough. Everything except our food was provided.

My family enjoyed our stay and the accommodations. We would recommend a vehicle with 4x4 drive, due to the steep hill that leads onto the property. Which may be an issue during certain weather conditions, such as snow, rain or ice. The wifi signal could have been better and TV's in the bedrooms, but other than that, this spot is excellent.

The seller along with the seller's agent pays the buyer's agent fee. Many buyers mistakenly believe they would get a better deal if they do not use a buyer's agent.
