The Magical Cottage in Bolinas is just that. It invites you in and hugs you tight—every bed, chair, window seat, couch and patio seat provide comfort and of course an unmatched view of water and mountains. Friendly neighbors including humans, crabs and anemones, deer, bobcats, foxes and—if you care to drive up toward the Point…a herd of tule elk!! Kitchen is stocked well for any level of cooking amd comm is super easy w/hosts. Wood burning stove was a big bonus for us! We loved our stay.
The views from the property were so beautiful. Even though most days I was there, it rained I walked on the beach every day because it was so close, and the cottage was so comfortable. I hope to come again next year.
Sunrise and sunset beach walks, fresh oysters down the road, making new friends and dancing at smiley’s, and ALL the birds!! I had an amazing time. Can’t wait to go back. Magical cottage indeed!
We loved staying at the Bolinas cottage: the view was fantastic, the location perfect for beach walks, and having kayaks and a canoe provided was an unexpected thrill for paddling about the bay!
I visited with a few girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. The property is absolutely wonderful, comfortable and in a terrific location - right on the water and only a couple of minutes into town or to the beach. The hosts were incredibly helpful and easy to work with. They even went above and beyond and started a fire for us on check in day. I can't recommend this property enough!
The house spacious, cozy and comfortable. The deck overlooking Bolinas Lagoon is amazing. Owner is friendly and efficient. We would love to stay here again
We had an amazing weekend watching sea life from the living room and deck of this amazing home. The location is unbeatable, the host is very welcoming, and the home feels like family beach house, which is perfect for a stay in Bolinas. Our only error was not staying longer. Looking forward to a return trip!
Much more spacious than pictures appeared and equip with anything and all things needed. Great easy and warm contact with hosts. Would love to come again♥️
This is a 1 bedroom home over the lagoon at Bolinas, it is such a unique location. It's a few minute walk to the gallery, grocery store, and at least 1 restaurant is usually open. I was here in the winter, and as a reminder the main heat source for the house is a wood burning stove. It works fairly well to warm up the house, and they give you notes on how to get a fire going, and there is a lot of firewood available. There is a second bathroom in the main living area, so I imagine you could have someone sleeping on the pullout. But I would find it much better suited to a couple or a solo trip. I would definitely come here again!
A gem of a cottage. Great location for town, beach, water use. Can launch onto sup board, kayak right from deck. Beautiful lagoon bustling with wildlife; a new look with each tide. Cottage is spacious and clean.
Had a great two night stay during our rainy stay. The house is right on the water and was very cozy and roomy. We kept warm with wood stove with plenty of wood.
We really enjoyed this lovely property which really feels like a home, the owners have so thoughtfully decorated and equipped and maintained it. I loved watching the lagoon at different times of day and the tides going in and out, the bird life and the surfers etc. Bolinas is a special place, not as pretentious or crowded as Stinson Beach, it's like Berkeley on the sea, my people :)

A naturalists haven
Truly a special place. We loved fishing off the deck, watching the herons nesting in the pine trees and saluting the seals as they swam by. The house was perfect and the town of Bolinas has everything - even a great organic store. I can't wait to get back there.
If you like to watch thousands of pelicans and sea gulls out your living room window and watch the power of the tides going in and out, then this charming, cozy spot on the lagoon is the perfect place. Even though the weather was stormy during our stay, the food fireplace kept us warm. Kitchen well equipped, comfy bed, and 1/2 block from a grocery store and restaurants.
This well loved cottage was absolutely amazing! Not a cookie cutter designer vacation rental but an actual family vacation home with all the amenities one could need. This charming home oozes family time and fond memories and we were so happy to have been able to make our own during our (way too short : ) stay. Everything was easy and our hosts were accessible and attentive. Thank you!
Incredible views from the bedroom, living room, and of course, the deck. As others have said, to be on the deck and to watch the tides ebb and flow with so much wildlife around in and on the water is simply spectacular.
We were a party of two and there was plenty of room.
This is truly a family home and not a high end condo being offered to you and that made it all the more charming for us. We have already recommended it to friends and would stay here again.
We had a lovely time in the cottage. The common area is quite large and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed including the instruction manual for the microwave. The view of the lagoon is the best feature - watching the tide change and all the birds. Very peaceful. If the weather is cool, be sure to get the fire going right away. We hope to return.
wood burning fireplace, lagoon out your window, cozy and comfortable
This was an all time great experience. The location-- right on the Bolinas lagoon-- was fully spectacular. In the morning, we sat on the window seat and watched the show: churning, misty water, seagulls and osprey, even the occasional seal. The house is cozy and comfortable, and the hosts could not be nicer or more responsive. You're right at the most gorgeous beach and a minute's stroll from town. All in all, we can't say enough about it!
My husband and I stepped into the cottage and immediately felt at home and at peace. The views are unbelievable... Mt. Tam, the changing tides, countless birds and sea lions. I grew up in an east coast cottage, and this clearly well-loved home brought back so many memories of these simple, peaceful days! Great hikes on Tam and in Pt. Reyes, food and walks on Stinson Beach, even swimming in the (freezing :) lagoon! We would come back in a heartbeat. Everything we needed was provided, Thank you for sharing your home!

Amazing place to make memories
My husband and I had an awesome time spending two nights at this cottage on the water (it's literally above the water), just a few houses down from the beach, and right around the corner from downtown Bolinas. We had drinks and dinner on the deck and watched the tide roll in and out and the fog pass through, all against the backdrop of Mt Tam and Bolinas Ridge. The beach is steps away, for late night stargazing, and early morning seashell/beach glass collecting. The house has kayaks and canoes ready for your use, you just have to get them down the ladder into the lagoon. We kayaked right by groups of seals, seabirds, and the occasional shark or stingray! If you don't want to go on the water, you can wait until low tide and just walk over to Kent Island in the distance. We'll never forget this place - it has everything. Many thanks to Lynda and Bob!
This cottage is larger and more beautiful than the photos. We were there for three days- on one day it rained the whole day- but it was still wonderful. We watched the tides go in and out- a stunning change. Not only can you see the lagoon and the birds and seals and small boats and kayaks, you can also see the Pacific Ocean and the northernmost spit of Stinson Beach. The bedroom is light and comfortable. The kitchen has a view of the living room with its wood burning stove and beamed ceiling and the deck overlooking the Bolinas Lagoon. And best of all, you are steps away from the Bolinas beach where people were fishing, walking their dogs, beachcombing and meditating. Bolinas itself is very small but quirky and charming.
Lynda and Bob were in Mexico but they still communicated with us and helped us with any question we had.
I wish I could live here!
