Check in was smooth. The house was clean, well organized, and nicely appointed. Beautiful property. Hosts were gracious and responsive. We would love to return!
Very quiet and relaxing. No noise at all from the river or the neighbors. The bedrooms and living areas are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is new and has just about everything you need. The only things we missed having were a blender and a set of steak knives. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean. Note that the grill is charcoal rather than gas.The heating/AC are great and the living room has a great tv and a bunch of games we played during out stay. Plenty of firewood for use in the firepit or the woodstove insert. One morning we saw an eagle perched in one of the trees between the house and the river.

The long road leading from the highway to the cottage was delightful for walking. The kitchen was very well stocked. The stairs from the second floor bedrooms to the first floor were a little narrow and not having the banister run all the way to the top caused us to be very cautious when descending. Lighting in the living room was poor but the dining room was a saving grace.
The property was beautiful. It looks as if the owner is doing some renovations on the house. The house was very clean and well stocked with good quality cookware which is important when you are cooking meals. The house had a bit of a musty odor but there was a dehumidifier running in the basement. The dock needed some attention. My grandson wanted to do some fishing but we weren’t sure how stable it was. The view of the River from the house was beautiful. We enjoyed a campfire each evening. The campfire area was very nice and there was wood for us to use. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were a nice size. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond with any questions we had. Overall it is a very nice property and we would certainly go back again if we were in the area. size.
Home was great and as advertised for our family of 6…washer/dryer, fire pit, front porch, and access to water were bonuses. Well located geographically for fresh lobster, pocket beaches, or morning coffee/breakfast in Thomaston. Would rent again!
This cozy home had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving getaway. It's beautifully updated, warm, comfortable, and centrally located to what we wanted to do. It's located in a quiet, riverfront area for a peaceful stay. Only the turkeys, squirrels, and an occasional lobster boat to get your attention. Just perfect.
I highly recommend this property.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed at stay at this wonderful property. The home was perfect for the 5 of us and we enjoyed how well equipped the house was for us to cook a few meals and enjoy some very relaxing mornings and evenings. The view over the water was so relaxing and I enjoyed seeing the sunrises from the porch with my cup of coffee.
Our stay on the banks of the mighty St. George River was wonderful; it was a delight each day. The tides, the birds, the moon, the moss – it was invigorating and relaxing both! Great for clearing the head in a busy world. We loved the open kitchen/living room and dining room area. As others have noted, the kitchen in particular was much better equipped than an average holiday stay. Even the knives were sharp! And the fact that there were well-stocked cupboards meant that we were far more inclined to leave items we had bought for others to use after we had left. The house was comfortable and feels lived in, the books and games are good, the lobsters are within easy reach, the bbq there for grilling, the whole family can hang out by the firepit on the cool lobster-red deck chairs under the lights. It reminded me of what New Yorkers might call a cabin upstate by the lake, except there are lobster boats and spectacular coasts and lighthouses nearby. You feel the sea life. I’d note that while the house is sheltered you are in the nature, so be thinking about -- and prep -- for mosquitoes and gnats before sitting out there. The little jetty could use some fixing up as the river boulders are great but a bit slippery and seaweed-ey for sitting on. Altogether, though we live far away, we’d love to go back.
Our family had a great stay. Cushing is in a great spot for daytrips to Rockland, Camden, Boothbay, Freeport, and more. The is house is a prefect balance of Maine cozy with modern amenities on a very quiet street.
Just enjoy a lovely week at this location. Very well and thoughtfully stocked. Clean and comfortable. Easy check in and responsive owner. This is in a quiet area of Maine with access to lovely trails and peaceful settings, but also has easy access to Rockland and Camden. We enjoyed our stay.
My family of three so enjoyed our stay at Jonathan's cottage nestled in the wood with a lovely view of the St. George River. We hosted lobster dinner (fresh off the boat in Friendship!) for our Maine relatives on the covered porch. The house was so very well stocked with everything we needed to cook and make cocktails. If you want quiet, this is the place! Nothing but the sound of the sea birds and the lobsterman checking their traps. Great location for visiting the Camden area. I recommend the Rockland Cafe, Camden Cone Ice Cream, Antiques at 10 Mechanic and Keag store for crab rolls. Thank you again for our wonderful Maine vacation.
We had the privilege to rent this home for the month of July. It was just the two of us and a perfect spot. This home is equipped with everything you could possibly need and has a fabulous view of the St. George River to the east. We couldn’t take advantage of the cute fire pit due to a lot of rain but we managed to entertain ourselves! The owners were very responsive to questions and the reservation/check-in process was smooth. Loved having a full size washer and dryer. The master bed was real comfy. The bathroom and kitchen are updated. While it did not bother us be aware that this property is on a dirt/gravel road and a bit of a hike into town of Thomaston. Also there is one bath. The master is conveniently on first floor but 2 other bedrooms are upstairs. We have rented on the midcoast for a number of years and this place was a real find. Thanks for a lovely month!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is at the end of a gravel road, right on the River. Very quiet and peaceful, but near everything. We saw eagles flying, lobstermen checking their traps, and lots of stars. The house is very comfortable. I have never seen a better equipped kitchen. The pantry was fully stocked, and we were invited to use what we needed. Good WiFi. There’s a steep bank, and so you can’t approach the river, but the view from the porch is wonderful.
We had a great week and the location was perfect for us. The house is very comfortable. It was so nice to hang out and relax. The fire pit was great and we spent many mornings and evenings sitting on the porch. Would love to return again!
This home in Cushing is beautiful and peacefully located overlooking the river. We loved sitting outside watching the water birds including a bald eagle, as well as the fishing boats. The home is very comfortable and excellently stocked. I would love to come back.
We enjoyed our relaxing stay; very comfortable. The owner was most helpful.. The water view from the house was wonderful ; a lovely start to the day! Enjoyed coffee on the porch overlooking the cove, so peaceful! We looked forward to our evenings spent around the fire pit. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, Overall a very rural and peaceful location, a most pleasant get away!!

Nice property
Nice property, house a little rustic but lots of potential
We had the pleasure of staying at this property for the month of July this summer. It was a perfect location to enjoy many of our favorite Midcoast places as it is convenient to Rockland, Thomaston, Friendship, and more. The water view from the porch is peaceful and lovely, and we enjoyed eating outside for most of our meals. We have three young children who loved roaming the property, playing in the large front yard, riding their bikes on the gravel road, and eating tons of s’mores at the awesome fire pit. (There is a drop off to the water so it does require some monitoring for toddlers on the move).
The house is one of the best stocked homes we have been in and we’ve rented in the area for 5 years. The kitchen is well equipped for those who like cooking and there’s an impressive board game collection. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and responsive throughout our long stay.
This home is a rare find—charming but functional with an off the beaten path but convenient location! We would definitely return!
The location is very remote and quiet. The home has new renovations of the kitchen and bathroom, and the pantry was very thoughtfully stocked. Our hosts were incredibly accessible and kind. Our weather was beautiful, although it was quite warm for sleeping. The fire pit was a big hit with our family. It is located on a tidal river, however there is not water access currently, nor is this a swimming or kayaking location as the water is far from the actual shore for the majority of the time. The neighboring towns of Rockland and Camden were quaint. Camden is one of the most beautiful towns we have ever visited. It is about 2 hours to Acadia and the trip was completely worth it. The park is breathtaking! Lobster festival was quite a tourist event, and lobster is a prevailing theme for the area.
