Our family was in town for a wedding and this was the perfect home for a large group. Location is terrific and very well appointed. We look forward to coming back for our next vacation or family reunion.
The house is large and spacious, with beautiful views of the river. It worked well for our family to gather during my daughter’s wedding. But it has some quirks that affected our visit. For example, the master bedroom downstairs does not have a door, which was very uncomfortable when undressing. An inch-tall defect in the bedroom floor led to constant stumbling, but thankfully no falls. The master bathroom can’t be completely locked, another uncomfortable situation when showering or using the toilet, since it adjoins another bedroom. The main front door can only be locked from the inside, so the last person leaving must use the other front door which is locked with a key. Since we weren’t sure who would return first, the key was hidden outside – we felt forced into this low security situation and hoped the neighbors didn’t see – why not provide guests with the code to the electronic door lock? The stove didn’t work properly, and neither did the icemaker. Lastly, the ad shows an idyllic picture with 5 Adirondack chairs by the river, but only 2 quite dirty chairs were provided. I hate to nitpick such a beautiful house, but these things negatively affected our stay and should be addressed for this wonderful property.
The location was lovely and the house is very spacious and well suited for family gatherings. With that being said while the house was overall clean, there was a dead cockroach laying on the floor inside the front door. There was an ant infestation in the kitchen the first night due to large amounts of rain. The property manager was very responsive and the ants were gone by the next morning. A few turnoffs included old damaged furniture and stained carpet in the upstairs bedroom as well as what appeared to be mold on the window of the upstairs bedroom. Considering these concerns, we would be happy to stay here again.
The Neuse River House was absolutely perfect for our family get-together over New Year's to attend a family wedding in New Bern. House was fully stocked with all amenities and 7 adults and 1 baby had plenty of room inside and out. Setting is beautiful. House is beautiful. Close to grocery stores, airport, and wedding venues. Even comfortably hosted a post-wedding New Year's Day dinner for extended family (14 adults and 3 children), with ample room for cooking, sit-down dinner, play areas, football on TV, etc. Host was very pleasant and easy to work with. Would not change a single thing about this property.
We were so pleased to stay at the Neuse River house for 11 days. Our first VRBO and we were pleasantly surprised. We will be back. Danny, the owner was a sweet southern gentleman.
We decided to have a family reunion and my daughter found this beautiful place. The moment we arrived we became in love with this house. Despite the slight stormy weather during our stay, this was overall one of the best trips we’ve ever had; plus it was in close proximity to stores. I highly recommend watching the sunrise here!
This is a fabulous house and property. All 12 of us had a great time. Plenty of room, kitchen was clean and beds comfortable. Can’t say enough about what a great experience it was . Highly recommend!!
