1880 historic home, fully modernized in historic downtown adjacent to Tryon Palace gardens/shops/cafe. Home is all about comfort, southern charm, modern amenities & has 4 gas fireplaces (living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms) a loft sleeps 3, eat in kitchen, beautifully furnished throughout. HDTV (2), high-speed Internet access included. All restaurants/taverns/cafes easily walkable as is waterfront/marina. Golf is plentiful, boaters have 2 public boat launches within 3/4 mile. There are 2 porches and lovely private fenced, landscaped backyard. Weather gets better & better after Labor Day, perfect for golfing, boating, fishing & biking. Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Cape Lookout Nat’l Seashore, ponies of Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island within 40 minutes drive. Bird watching at Croatan National Forest, NC Aquarium, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum all nearby. Come down, park the car, walk/bike everywhere, relax and be a townie for a week, month, season. Please take special note of pet restrictions. Weekly general cleaning for monthly rental is required and will be charged at time of reservation. Monthly rentals require damage protection by VRBO, this charge will be reflected in your final quote. Reservations that include the third floor loft have a minimal surcharge.

Cozy stay

The Smith House was a very cozy home and the owner was excellent with quick communications. I wish we had more time in the home to enjoy the various amenities like the screened in back porch, fireplaces and firepit. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Perfect Home - Perfect Location

Beautiful home in New Bern's historic district, with plenty of room for family to gather and stay. Accommodations provided above and beyond what we needed. Walking distance to water, Tryon Palace and excellent coffee shop! Only 10 mins by foot to downtown as well. It was perfect.

Charming Weekend

The house is historical and has kept a lot of the old charm. The furniture is very attractive and comfortable. We did not use the kitchen much but seemed modern enough. Plenty of hot water for the two of us. The downstairs gas fireplace worked well. Private back deck and patio. Just around the corner from Tryon Palace. Around a 8-10 minute walk to downtown. A breakfast diner a block away. Wonderful weekend.

Perfect for any size group

This is the perfect rental house. Cozy rooms, yet plenty of spaces. Two people? -perfectly cozy. Larger group? -3 full bathrooms, dining room table that fits 6, 4 awesome beds and 1 deluxe airmattress, 3 floors and multiple outdoor spaces! All beds, even in the upstairs loft, were super comfortable. Upstairs loft is perfect for older kids or adult "kids" in the group (spiral staircase is steep for young kids.) Upstairs loft has low slanted ceiling but is a great space, quiet and comfortable. I love the kitchen and couch/living nook, because everyone always ends up in the kitchen! Screen back porch and front porch and open section of back porch AND a little backyard space. The artwork throughout the house by Kippy is BEAUTIFUL! Host was very kind and accommodating to my group, while in a stressful transition of moving. We couldn't have found a better house. Do read instructions prior to arrival and bring your own paper products. (We figured that one out first morning with 6 adults and zero toilet paper. Ha!)

The house provided the perfect setting for our adult family to come together from around the country/world. The house is as charming as the town and the location was ideal. Comfort, beauty, and well equipped. Quiet street yet walking distance to everything we might want. It was our second stay in the home and hopefully not our last.

Beautiful Stay in New Bern

Beautiful historic home in downtown New Bern. We were surrounded by stunning paintings created by the host. It was the perfect location to enjoy all that the charming town of New Bern has to offer. Our host was very welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend this VRBO!

My husband and I visited New Bern to celebrate our anniversary. The home, location and town was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed being able to explore the town on foot and going for walks with our dog. Having an enclosed back yard and screened in porch met all our needs. Look forward to coming back!

The location of this home was excellent to historic New Bern! The home has so much charming character. Every local we encountered was friendly & helpful. Repeat guests, another great stay!

My husband and I plus our two found children had a wonderful stay at Kristine’s property. The house is in a great location, a short walk to downtown and right next to Tyron place. The house itself is beautifully decorated, including lots of stunning original artwork by the owner herself, we are looking forward to returning!

Perfect Fall Trip

First of all, this house has so much character. From the artwork to the historic ambience, this was such a welcoming and lovely home. We were in town for the Fun in the Sun car show which was held downtown and there was no need to drive anywhere with everything in such close proximity. The host made sure to check in on us after our arrival and made sure that we felt welcome. The neighbors were kind and provided excellent recommendations for first time visitors. This will not be my last trip to this beautiful city!

Emotional Weekend

We were in town for my father’s memorial service. The location was exception- walking distance to downtown, places to eat and drink. The house was extremely comfortable, well appointed and comforting during an emotional weekend. The lovely setting and easy flow of the house allowed us to be together and be a respite for a difficult time. Highly recommend.

Great location and character!

My husband, our 2 little schipperkes and I spent 4 days in this wonderful, charming house in New Bern. The location is easily walkable to downtown New Bern plus a wonderful little breakfast spot as well as a wine bar. Bed was comfortable and everything we needed was there! Thank you!
