Fabulous views

An expensive holiday in an apartment with beautiful views and a useful balcony. Perfect for a rest cure, inasmuch as there's little to do locally except to admire that view (unless you're into cycling, in which case you're in good company).

A good choice

Duingt is ideally located to make the most of Lake Annecy and convenient for visitng Annecy town. Good facilities including SPAR, bike hire , boulangerie/patissierie and restaurants. Supermarkets within short driving distance. Apartment reasonably spacious and well equipped with location really good for views of lake and mountains.

Beautiful view, average location

The property was well-presented and equipped, looking out on the lake and the mountains beyond from the living area. The bedrooms opened out onto the main Albertville to Annecy Road, and so were quite noisy (with the back balcony doors open) from about 6am. Fine in autumn and winter, not so good on a hot summer night, I would suspect. It was a base from which to explore elsewhere: Duingt itself isn't a tremendously lively place, and not very well served by restaurants. Not having a cafe (apart from the excellent Au Bon Wagon) left the place lacking focus. But if you want a quiet break with the occasional side trip (by bus, so easy) to Annecy for shopping or a boat trip around the lake, it's a great place to stay. I would add that getting from the apartment block's parking area to the flats themselves is a bit of a hazard, involving either a dash across a busy road, or a rather tedious walk down and up steps with a tunnel in between with a key-activated gate in the middle - it's a bore, especially when carrying shopping or luggage.

I stayed at this apartment in Duingt with my family of 4. The view of the lake is incredible and the apartment has everything you need with the exception of air conditioning. We were lucky to be there between two major heat waves but the day time temperature was still quite warm (29-30C), so sleeping at night was a challenge. You can get a good breeze coming through the apartment which helps alot, but at night there are no screens so you tend to get some harmless bugs coming into the apartment. Other than that, the place is very nice with a recently renovated bathroom and everything you need in the kitchen. It's a 10-minute drive to supermarkets, boulangeries, restaurants. There is a dock area with boats and you have access to swim in the lake, but it gets deep very quickly. Instead, you can walk about 5-10 minutes to a nice grassy beach area next to the castle and swim there (depth is about 1 meter). I would definitely stay there again as long as it's not too hot!
