Enjoy the freedom and privacy of a villa with exclusive use of a sunny Mediterranean garden.
This traditional Andalusian-style bungalow is situated in one of Estepona's well established and beautifully maintained communities. The perfect place to relax and enjoy your holiday. The beach is only a short 5 minute walk away, so it is easy to just head to the beach first thing in the morning for an invigorating swim before heading off to explore the local area or for a short stroll at sunset. Even during the summer months, the beach is quiet and principally enjoyed by residents of the houses in the vicinity and guests from the Hotel Elba. The centre of Estepona with its bustling port and tranquil beautifully restored old town is 3km away (45 minute walk along the beach).
There are two large supermarkets within a short walk - Aldi (300m) and Mercadona (500m), a Burger King (300m) and the local restaurants (500m) have a very good reputation and offer a range of dishes for all tastes.
GARDEN and TERRACE: The south-west facing terrace with outside dining area and sunbeds is directly accessible from the lounge, and overlooks the private garden which includes a selection of native and tropical plants, as well as fresh herbs and young fruit trees. We recently added a section with some typical plants that are usually found in the surrounding mountains. This is the perfect spot for a BBQ or al-fresco dining or just relaxing and soaking up the sunshine. Or why not head down to the beach with a picnic and a bottle of wine?
LIVING AREA: All rooms are decorated in a traditional Mediterranean style for that Andalusian feeling. A good size living room provides comfortable seating for 5, and satellite TV. There is an additional indoor dining area as well as a fireplace. The villa benefits from high ceilings and is on a single level, making it safe and practical for those with restricted mobility.
Satellite TV reception includes most German channels as well as standard digital terrestrial Spanish channels are also available (TVE, Antena 3, Telecinco etc). There is also a DVD Player and a CD/Radio. Some English language channels such as CNN, Sky News are available as well as some French and Dutch News channels.
BEDROOMS: Bedrooms each have two single beds with firm mattresses and duvet (or sheets with blankets during summer). There is plenty of storage space in large fitted wardrobes and each room has a slow-swirling ceiling fan, air-conditioning and mosquito nets on all windows. Travel cot available on request.
BATHROOM: There is a bathroom with large walk-in shower and WC as well as another WC which is separate from the main house. Hairdryer and Iron/ ironing board are available for your use.
KITCHEN: The fully equipped kitchen includes a vitroceramic cooker, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. All equipment for a self-catering holiday is available with good quality cookware, kettle, coffee machine (percolator), toaster. Some cooking essentials are available i.e. herbs and spices, salt and pepper, sugar, coffee filters. More fresh herbs (Rosemary, Bay Leaves etc) can be found in the garden. There is a table and chairs for four people. High chair for toddler available on request.
UTILITY ROOM: This is separate from the main house and here you will find an additional toilet, washing machine, washing pegs, travel cot, BBQ, beach equipment e.g. sun umbrella, beach mats etc.
PARKING: The shaded carport is well away from any through road and provides off road parking right next to the front door. Ideal for family holiday or for those with restricted mobility (almost no steps). There is no through traffic noise as the villa is located at the end of a cul-de-sac that provides access to only two villas.
This cozy little villa is situated in a residential area consisting of detached houses with large gardens and is perfect for couples or families who want to enjoy the wonderful Spanish climate and the relaxing private garden. The villa is primarily intended for the use of family and friends and is therefore perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need.
ACTIVITIES:
Wth over 320 sunny days, outdoor activities can be enjoyed all year. Estepona is the perfect base for sightseeing in Malaga or Ronda, or driving around the white villages just behind the Sierra Bermeja mountain range. The Atlantic coast near Tarifa is only a short drive away. Other activities include horse riding, kite-surfing, wind-surfing, sightseeing, diving, mountain biking.....
HIKING: Nearby there are numerous hiking areas and nature reserves. We are fortunate to have known this area for over 20 years and can provide advice on hiking routes or information on the natural history of this wonderful region. The Senda de Malaga is a newly inaugurated series of hiking routes through some amazing scenery. Best areas for hiking include the Sierra Bermeja (Estepona), Sierra Blanca (Marbella and Ojen), Sierra de las Nieves (Ronda, Yunquera and Istan), Serrania de Ronda (near Estepona), Sierra Crestellina (Casares), Los Alcornocales Nature Reserve (Cork Oak Forests near Los Barrios), Mediterranean Steps in Gibraltar with views of both Europe and Africa. Grazalema Nature Reserve for lush vegetation and rocky landscapes. El Torcal near Antequera for limestone rock formations. Best times for enjoying the natural beauty of the mountains around Estepona are the beginning of April to the end of June. However, with over 320 sunny days a year it is possible to go walking throughout the year with the exception of the hotter summer months of July and August.
BIRD WATCHING: The area has many sites of interest for bird watching i.e. Guadalhorce Wetlands near Malaga, Wetlands at La Janda near Tarifa, Gibraltar for migratory birds, Casares for vultures and the Lesser Kestrel, Flamingos at La Fuente de Piedra, Raptors in the Sierras, Bee-eaters, Hoopoos etc etc,
WILDFLOWERS: Which time of year for wild flowers? Botanists will enjoy the many orchid species that flower between February and June, Almond blossom in January, while plants at higher altitudes (Sierra de las Nieves) can be enjoyed during June/July. In our opinion, the most beautiful time of year is between April and June. Botanical gardens are at their best during spring and early summer i.e. La Concepcion near Malaga and in the Alcornocales Natural Park near Los Barrios (highly recommended).
GOLF: Estepona boasts numerous golf courses from which to choose. Enjoy the pleasant temperatures and Mediterranean sun while throughout autumn, winter and spring.
CULTURAL SITES: Enjoy the local culture. the Old Town of Estepona has been lovingly restored during the last two years and is now the garden of the Costa. Most of the old town is now pedestrianised and has been decorated with hanging plants and larger container plants. Visit the Pueblos blancos in the valley behind Estepona, including Genalguacil which has open air sculptures. Roman ruins (free entry to EU citizens) just behind Bolonia beach near Tarifa. Caves at Gibraltar (take passport and don't forget to visit the famous Barbary Macaques) and in the Serrania de Ronda just behind Estepona. Museums in Ronda and Malaga. Art Galleries i.e. Picasso museum, Thyssen Museum and Modern Art in Malaga City. Day trip to the Alhambra in Granada (book in advance).
FOOD: Enjoy tapas just about anywhere. Fresh fish - especially in the fishing port of Estepona. Wonderful spanish wines and sherry. Super strong Spanish coffee whilst watching the world go by.

Why they chose this property
We chose 'La Casita' principally for the use of family and friends. The simple Andalusian charm of the house and its private garden which is full of Mediterranean trees and flowers immediately attracted us.
Don Pedro Urbanisation/La Gaspara is one of the oldest residential areas in the Estepona area and is very quiet, well maintained and friendly. Another advantage is that the house is situated very close to the wonderful town of Estepona and even better, it is less than five minutes walk from the beach. From the house, it is easy to pop down to the beach for a quick swim, enjoy the sounds and smells of the Mediterranean and appreciate the beautiful views of Gibraltar and the Estepona coastline.
In the winter there is the warm and sunny climate, the spring is perfect for hiking and enjoying the stunning views, flora and fauna of the surrounding mountains. During the summer we savour the warm evenings and long beach walks and the autumn lends itself for more hiking and visits to the surrounding area such as Malaga, Ronda and various natural parks. And throughout the year, there are numerous local ferias in different villages, each one with its own special character. The area is both cosmopolitan, vibrant and open while at the same time retaining the unique Spanish character which attracts us all to Andalusia.
I have been visiting the Estepona area several times a year for over 20 years and although much has changed, the spirit of the Spanish people and the beauty of the countryside remains untouched.
