About this property

#209 Kings, River View, Deck, Bicentennial Park

General’s Quarters (209) is situated steps from the Ohio River. This renovated 3-level historic (circa 1830) home is a perfect (and spacious) gathering place for families and friends.

We're located near all the festival action (Bicentennial Park) and easy walking distance to Main Street and bars and restaurants. Clifty State Park is a quick drive to the west side of town.

GQ includes 4 bedrooms (2-King Suites, 2-Queen) and Queen sleeper sofa in the living room.

Two king bedrooms are located on the top floor with the washer and dryer and each has its own full bathrooms. The two Queen bedrooms are on the bottom floor with walkout access to the backyard and additional parking (ideal for anyone that doesn't do stairs). These bedrooms share a full bath. All bedrooms include a 43" flatscreen TV.

The living/dining/kitchen areas are located on the middle floor and include all the comforts of home - a 75" TV, access to the back deck, workspace with a standing desk, charging station, Bluetooth speaker, and games for hours of entertainment. The deck is ideal for watching the river and enjoying the fresh air. A full-length glass door to the deck provides river views year-round.

Furnished with a mixture of antiques and modern furniture you’ll find General’s Quarters to be a great home away from home. Enjoy a great family gathering with plenty of room to make memories to last a lifetime

You'll have access to the entire house.

General's Quarters is located right by Bicentennial Park (Center of town) between the river and Main Street. You'll be able to walk out your door to Main Street and all the festival action.

Downtown Madison is a great walking town or if you prefer you can rent a golf cart. Getting around is easy. There is also plenty of parking at General's Quarters - street and in the back (2 reserved spots).

Beautiful renovated property, very clean and well stocked - we rented both units which was perfect for 8 old high school friends to get together for a reunion. Everything is within walking distance from the property although we did drive to Clifty Falls to hike. Highly recommend this property and owner who communicated with us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed - a lovely stay!

Great Location with River Views

This was a great location close to the Ohio River and Downtown Madison. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio watching the boats and barges in the evening, and the rest of the house was just as comfortable.

We had fun exploring Madison, enjoying the good food and hiking at Clifty Falls. Bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with the basics. One suggestion was to add some hooks for clothing in the downstairs bedroom on the river side

Our family (3 couples + 1 toddler) had a great time in Madison and General's Quarters was the perfect place to stay. We enjoyed the history of the beautifully restored house and the location was great for the activities we had planned (Clifty Falls State Park, Ohio River scenery, walk to downtown, kids' playground, relaxing on the deck, etc). Wonderful Retreat!

Beautifully appointed! Great supply of dishes, pots/pans, linens, personal items, EVERYTHING! Heating system in the basement was wonky; couldn't get it out of Hard Lock. Good lighting throughout. Just what we needed!!!!

Fabulous Family Getaway

We had such a wonderful time in Madison! We absolutely loved our stay at the General's Quarters and did not want to leave this beautiful place!! Everything about this Townhome was simply amazing and over the top!! The decor is so beautiful, bedrooms and living areas were so spacious and well laid out. Our host was so easy to communicate with and was so nice to let us have early check in and late check out. She had everything there that you would ever need and more. We loved that she had a Keurig machine and also supplied a large variety of K cups, tea, creamer and sugar. She also leaves a few snacks on the counter for your arrival. The patio area, with a view of the river, was so beautiful and peaceful. This townhome was simply stunning and we can't wait to come back!

Love Madison and love the location of this property within Madison. Just a couple blocks to Madison’s quaint & historic downtown shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed this place! Updated & beautifully decorated. All the comforts of home! Had fun playing cards & kicking back with our friends. Went to the wineries & had great food at area restaurants. Madison is a favorite of mine & we will definitely plan to book this same place in the future.

This place is AMAZING! I am already looking to book again. The pictures depict an accurate description of the layout, the cleanliness was top notch, the location has beautiful views of the river, and the space held 7 adults with no problem at all! The location was perfect to walk downtown, to the river and bicentennial park. Lots of restaurants and bars. Clifty falls a few miles away. The host Kelly was great! Property was clean, had plenty of towels and linens. The kitchen was fully stocked. We loved the coffee bar in the mornings. Definitely would stay there again! Highly recommend

My husband and I fell in love with Madison several years ago. We discovered General's Quarters in 2017. It was a tired 5 apartment building. We knew it needed to return to its original glory so gutted it and brought it back to a 3 story duplex. We love sharing our homes (209 and 207) with our guests and hope they have a great time and want to come back real soon.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1830, we fell in love with it's brick and history. We love the location - south of Main St near the river and central to town.

What makes this property unique

This property was built in 1830 and owned by a Civil War General. He married a local gal. We completely gutted the homes while keeping the historic charm and added modern amenities.
