About this property
Gorgeous Waterfront, Popham Beach, Event Barn, Dock, Mooring, Historical Estate
Stay in our elegant 18th century farmhouse--meticulously restored to preserve its history and lovingly refreshed with a modern farmhouse style--with a renovated 1800s barn. Set on a 4.5 acre private waterfront estate steeped in natural beauty and authentic Maine charm. Simply stunning views.
The house has 8 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms (including a master suite with private porch and entry), open chef's kitchen, breakfast room, formal dining room, formal living room and cozy study.
Experience indoor/outdoor living on the patio with teak dining table, seating area, and bar perfect for meals, cocktail hours or lounging. Kitchen garden. Native plant landscaping and flower gardens.
Enjoy lawn games, cocktail hours, lounging in Adirondack chairs, and picnics on our sweeping lawn.
Steep in the tranquility and natural beauty of the landscape. Wake up to the sunrise over the Kennebec, watch seals playing on the island, eagles swooping overhead. Stargaze around the fire pit while toasting s'mores.
Moore your yacht or just use our deep-water dock on the world-renowned Kennebec River to arrive in style, or head off for a sunset cruise, an excursion to Popham Beach or Sequin island lighthouse. Charter a local pontoon cruise, fishing trip, bird watching adventure, and more. Or just cast a line for stripers, watch a quiet sunrise, or snap some beautiful photos.
Enjoy group dinners around our handmade farm tables in the barn.
Down our road you'll find a beautiful swimming hole and place to launch kayaks, miles of hiking trails, Thistle Dew Alpaca Farm, Center Pond Farm, the Phippsburg Historical Society, Library and Bissons Center Store for provisions.
In Phippsburg you'll find nearby Popham Beach (10 min drive), Bates-Morse Mountain Preserve, golf, tennis, and kayaking at Sebasco Harbor, hidden coves, lobster shacks, restaurants, and farm stands.
Head to charming Bath and Brunswick for restaurants, galleries, Maine Maritime Museum, Bowdoin College; Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (Boothbay), Ried State Park (Georgetown), Sailing (Harpswell); LL Bean and outlets (Freeport) and day trips to Portland.
Here, you’ll feel like you are away from it all--surrounded by natural beauty and small town charm--but you’re only a stone’s throw from anything you could possibly need or desire. Just 15 minutes from Bath, 20 minutes from Brunswick, and 45 minutes from Portland. Popham Beach is 15 minutes down the road.
Host a lobster bake, family reunion, retreat or meeting in the barn. For weddings and events, please inquire about availability, contract and pricing.
(Please note that there are often mosquitos during the summer months in our area, though their presence or absence depends on the weather and fluctuates throughout the season or even the week. We recommend bringing bug spray.)
(Please also note that there is a newly renovated 3 bed apartment ("The Hayloft") with vaulted ceilings and water views above the 19th c barn that is also available for rent.)

About the host
Hosted by Sarah DeVan
This is our home, our dream, our passion-and we'd love to share it with you.
After working as a chef in Michelin star restaurants in NYC, France and Spain, Sarah moved to Phippsburg full-time to chase our dream of transforming the Inn into a destination for getaways, weddings and farm-to-table dining.
Restoring and stewarding a nearly 250 year old property on the National Register of Historic Places is a labor of love--one we're grateful to be able to share with you. There is nothing we love more than creating a beautiful space where families and friends can gather and connect in a beautiful natural setting.
We live next door to the Inn with our dog and two children. We love to garden, forage, fish, hunt and continue exploring this incredible corner of the world. We hope to share with you a sense of discovery and the magic of this extraordinary place.

Why they chose this property
Set in a rural seaside village, steeped in natural beauty, rich maritime history and authentic Maine charm, Phippsburg is something special: a place that is authentic, beautiful, and just enough out of the way.
From the Inn, you can walk in one direction to the Totman Library, Historical Society, Thistle Dew Alpaca farm and Bisson's Center Store (THE town general store). In the other direction, you can walk to a nature preserve with miles of hiking trails and a large pond perfect for swimming, fishing and kayaking.
Here, you're far from the hustle and bustle, but only a stone's throw from anything you may need. Just a 15 minute drive to Popham Beach State Park, 20 minutes to Brunswick, 30 minutes to Wiscasset, 45 minutes to Boothbay and Portland, and 2.5 hours to Boston. It's far from the hustle and bustle, but only a stone’s throw from anything you might need.
