Woodstork Pond Cottage - Seaside Dreams Entire house

Unique, whimsical beach cottage set on a special little pond that we share with exquisite Florida seabirds. You can also choose to rent this fun "Convertible PT Cruiser" to complete your vacation. The cottage is tastefully decorated with a seaside theme to give guests the feel of a true summer beach vacation. It is just a quick 7 min drive to the beach and only 2 mins from Old Englewood’s famous Dearborn Street with its fun shops, bars & dining. Golf courses, jetski/boat rentals, etc. close by.
The space
The pond is actually owned by the beautiful, protected birds who reside there, but they have graciously allowed us to share it with them. There are egrets, blue herons, wood-storks, ibis and plenty of other species that are a truly breathtaking sight to behold. Our birds will come right up to the lanai to share the sunset with you or provide delightful entertainment during your morning coffee. They are harmless, polite, never loud or annoying and they don’t poo everywhere like geese. Your kids or grandkids will love them!

The home has an open floor plan with two bedrooms, both en-suite and at different ends of the property, allowing utmost privacy. The master bedroom has a King bed and leads out to the lanai. The guest room has bunk beds with a Queen at the bottom and a Single on top. The property comfortably sleeps 5 people, but I have blow up beds for extra guests and kids.

The large glass sliding doors pocket away to allow for indoor/outdoor Florida living. The kitchen comes with all the necessary appliances including a Keurig for the coffee connoisseur, an electric kettle for the tea drinker, and a regular old (well actually its new) coffee maker for those who don’t want all the fancy-schmancy stuff. Also, there is a steamer, a slow cooker, a mixer, an Instapot, and lots of other extra kitchen gadgets.

Englewood is a true "Old Florida", charming little coastal town, nestled between Venice and Port Charlotte. “Woodstork Pond Cottage” is located in Piccadilly Estates, a lovely quiet, very safe, private community. There are many beaches close by, plus golf courses, bars, dining, and shopping. The local Farmers Market on Thursdays in “Old Englewood” is always fun, they have jazz nights on Dearborn, a sunset beach drum circle close by, and lots of other activities for your pleasure all just a few minutes away.

A piece of Paradise

Wonderful home that is so adorably decorated and homey! Has everything you need for a peaceful and comfortable stay yet very close to the beaches and all Englewood has to offer. Really great community and neighborhood. Great pond out back where one can sit and enjoy the amazing birds, tortoise’s, and alligators! Love this place and so grateful for the stay.

Woodstork Cottage

We arrived to a beautiful decorated cottage. Each room decorated with different themes. A very warm and cozy place to stay. The glass doors open to a large lanai to enjoy sitting or enjoying your dinner outdoors without bugs, it is screened in. You walk outside to the most amazing birds. Just a wonderful place. I highly recommend this home.

I take hosting seriously and always want my guests to be happy and comfortable in my homes, so it is upsetting when a guest is not pleased. However, this is a 2-bedroom property and has always been a 2-bedroom property with the two bedrooms photographed. The listing says that it can sleep 6 people, not that there are 6 bedrooms. This guest showed up with 6+ guests instead of the 4 on the booking, plus they had 3 dogs! They then tried to say the AC was not working, but I have remote controls on my AC so I can remotely turn the AC up when no guests are staying. I could clearly see that the AC WAS working and was in fact 14% cooler than they were trying to claim. As you can see, Woodstork Pond Cottage had ALL 5-star reviews from 15 total stays.... until this guest. I'm sorry they were unhappy, but there was nothing I could have done to make it right as I cannot magically produce extra bedrooms. This was a disappointing booking as my outcome is always to have my guests be thrilled with their visit to Woodstork Pond Cottage. I'm sorry this happened.

Such a fun property! Exactly like the pictures - spacious with wonderful accommodations. Susie provided so many extras. Just a few minutes to the beautiful Englewood beach. Close to Dearborn St. with restaurants and shops. Susie is the best! Highly recommend.

Rest & Relaxation

We really enjoyed sitting on the Lanai drinking coffee in the morning watching all the different kinds of birds that are unique to Florida. Susie is a very creative decorator and a great host. The house has an eclectic mixture of her own coastal Floridian theme with mermaids, paintings, an array of colors and colorful lights.

Susie’s home was lovely - just as the pictures showed. Susie was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The pond was very entertaining to watch the different birds coming and going and trying to identify them with the help of her guidebook. Great relaxing week on her beautiful lanai.

Woodstork Pond Cottage - Outstanding

This is a wonderful cottage in a very quiet neighborhood close to the beaches, the downtown, and wonderful restaurants. The lanai was our favorite room with its view of the pond complete with lots of birds and, of course, the woodstorks! Susie is a tremendous property owner who made our stay very special and has an eye for the decor you will appreciate when you enjoy this very special rental. My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased. We'll be back!

So peaceful!

We came to stay at Woodstork Pond Cottage because it looked like such a magical place and it definitely did not disappoint. The house is decorated so beautifully, with so much attention to detail. The neighborhood is so nice and quiet and the pond brings so much wildlife to it, it’s really remarkable. We were looking for rest and relaxation and we definitely found the perfect place to relax and reset. The area has an old Florida feel and the beach is really clean and beautiful. The house had everything we needed and Susie really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again ❤️

Woodstork Pond Cottage

Susie was very hospitable - she reached out to me to let me know how her first visitor from England, who was arriving before us, could access the property and we had a very friendly conversation. The cottage itself was comfortable and clean, and also was generously stocked and supplied. It was decorated in pinks, mauves and blues, with solid, good quality furniture and spacious wardrobes. The two bedroom suites made it very easy to share with our grown offspring and there was a comfortable sitting room. The screened-in lanai overlooked the wild pond where we could watch for wildlife. With two large dining tables we were spoiled for choice about where to sit at shared meals. Lovely home, lovely host.

Great Stay in Englewood

For the month of February we left the cold behind and headed to sunny Englewood. The house was as pictured and described. The weather was great. Our dog loved the frequent walks especially to the open field about 200 yards from the house. The neighborhood is quiet except they are building a new house across the street. This house is expected to be completed in May.Woodstork Cottage is an older house and is showing signs of aging. A few minor things broke (small rack inside dishwasher rack and kitchen cabinet door hinge) during our stay and Susie responded promptly. However some items (e.g. one lanai ceiling fan) cannot be fixed until the ceiling is upgraded? And the pond alligator Elton invited a new larger friend to join him in the pond.

Thank you so much for your 5* review! I’m delighted that you, Tracy, and Pixie loved Woodstork Pond Cottage and that you're considering booking again next season—that truly means a lot to me. I’m sorry that the small cup rack in the dishwasher broke during your stay, but I made sure to have it replaced immediately. I’m also glad the technician was able to explain how the pod dispenser works so everything runs smoothly for future visits. Regarding the building opposite, I'm sorry and completely understand unexpected noise can be disruptive. I’ve been assured that all remaining work now is inside, so the peaceful atmosphere of Piccadilly Estates has returned. As for the lanai ceiling, I am repainting it in two weeks during a booking break. It was a minor aesthetic issue caused by the hurricane. While we worked hard to complete all repairs in time for the season to avoid disappointing folks with bookings, some final touch-ups had to wait. Although the current lanai fan works, I have ordered new fans to be installed once the ceiling is freshly painted. Florida’s beautiful natural environment does mean sharing space with wildlife, including alligators. As mentioned in the listing, they are present in almost every body of water in the state. As long as they are left undisturbed and not fed, they maintain a natural and healthy fear of humans. Again, I truly appreciate your feedback and am so pleased you had a wonderful stay. I’d love to welcome you back next year

Woodstork Pond

We enjoyed our stay. We did ask the owner about the bikes she had as an amenity for her property description. She went out of her way to make sure they were in working condition when we arrived. She may want to invest in coaster bikes. Her bikes were hard to ride. Beach chairs were also mentioned in the property description. We, unfortunately, had to purchase new ones because the ones she offered were broken. My recommendation is for the property manager to make sure all items listed on the rental property are in good shape and operating for each renter. All and all it was a nice trip but we would have had enjoyed our stay more if the bikes and beach equipment were in better shape.

I have bikes at Woodstork Pond Cottage FREE for the convenience of my visitors. Because this guest asked about them prior to arrival, I had my handyman perform a maintenance and install new inner tubes in advance of check in. I apologize if the bikes were not to the standard this guest would have liked. However, there are photographs of the bikes in the listing, clearly displaying the type of bikes they are. The beach chairs were new at the beginning of the January season, so I apologize that some of them (there are 6) were broken. Unfortunately, items left for guests to use often get mistreated and it is hard to keep up. However, my cleaning lady informed me that these guests must not have noticed that there were perfectly working beach chairs hanging in their carry bags on the wall above the little Red Beach Buggy (which I also leave for my guest’s convenience along with big beach towels). I have ordered new beach chairs to replace the broken ones, and in the future will have my cleaning lady check this so as not to disappoint future guests. Also for the convenience of my guests, each property has an Alexa so visitors can play music, listen to the news/weather etc., or ask random questions as they arise. This is stated in the Welcome Letter. Halfway through the stay this guest became alarmed by the Alexa and somehow thought they were being spied on. She said she would not report me to VRBO for this if I refunded some money…... I suggested they simply unplug the Alexa, and clearly, I declined to refund. I am really committed to providing whatever I can to make sure my guests have an amazing stay. With this in mind I try to provide as many amenities as I can ……sadly sometimes this backfires. I am truly disappointed this guest had less than a 5 STAR experience as this is ALWAYS my outcome. I will take this review and suggestions to heart and do what I can to improve and provide an even better stay for my future guests. I thank this guest for their input.

Perfect for girls trip

This property is so charming and delightful, filled with positive energy! Centrally located to anything you would need. Susie is a fabulous hostess, she makes herself available for any issue although, we didn't have any! We would definitely return!

Perfect beach getaway

The house is adorable and welcoming. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you could need. Check in was super easy and the host allowed us to check in, in the middle of the night which was really awesome since we left late because of my husbands job. The kids loved the bunk beds and feeding the birds in the backyard. It’s only a couple of minutes to the best beaches! And there was even a happy birthday banner in the front of house for my little girl, which was the sweetest thing ever. We will be back. We absolutely loved it!!

Relaxing Serinity & so comfortable

We had an amazing time at the Woodstorck Pond cottage! Our interaction with Susie were fantastic! She is a very sweet homeowner and very considerate. We loved every aspect of the cottage and there were so many details in design that made it such a whimsical place to stay. We had everything we needed and the place was so clean and comfortable! We wish we could have stayed a week! We would definitely come back if we could! We loved that the beach was nearby and if you want shopping or restaurants they aren't but severalminutes down the road:)
