We had a very quiet stay at the camp and enjoyed ourselves. The lake was somewhat difficult for me to get back and forth from because of a mobility issue.
We really enjoyed staying at the camp. If you are looking to get away from the city this is a perfect place to stay.
Thank you for the amazing experience!
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful, we ventured on the lake, did some fishing, very , very relaxing, we had our dog with us, and he had a great time, he even met some local dogs and was great experience, (he’s a schnoodle) just wanna say it was a great time, definitely come back again
Camp Asulykit was absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway. The house is on a quiet road across from Bass Lake, where we spent time daily either jumping off the floating dock, watching loons, kayaking, or letting our dogs play. The house had everything we needed and is close to some great hiking. We would love to be able to go back someday.
Bass Lake is small but big on beauty and serenity. The waterfront amenities really stood out…a screened gazebo, a swimming dock, canoes and kayaks, a cozy fire pit …and a loon to watch and listen to at night. Hosts very responsive when we had questions…many thanks for the flannel sheets and lots of firewood.
This was our second year vacationing at this cabin, and we absolutely love it! The perfect place to disconnect from reality and enjoy nature. The lake is beautiful, and they offer a variety of boats and floats to enjoy it. Love that our dogs can come along and enjoy it as well. They love it! Looking forward to more visits in the future! Thank you
We enjoyed our stay at the rental. The house was nice and private with views through the trees of Bass Lake. The house was as advertised. The bedrooms had plenty of storage and space. The waterfront was secluded and a great place to spend the day on the lake enjoying the gazebo and fire pit. The kitchen had plenty of pans and the Keurig was great. Only suggestion would be to have more dishes and silverware for mealtime.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. There were plenty of stars to see at night, and the cabin suited are needs well. Check-in and checkout was easy, and we were able to do lots of good hiking near the Lake Placid area. The fireplace was great to come back to in the evenings.
The walls/doors of rooms are pretty thin, so there is not an abundance of privacy. The driveway is gravel up a short, steep road. We got up it in a Toyota Prius fine in the fall, but if there had been snow it would've been harder.
This was our third vacation at Mary's wonderful rustic camp. It has everything we want or need. The water area is extremely nice and very private. We spent most of our days fishing, kayaking, having campfires and relaxing by the water. The camp beds are comfortable and everyone slept very good. Having a washer and dryer is a wonderful plus with small children. The only thing we can suggest is possibly placing some solar lights along the driveway. When we walked back to the cabin at night it was very dark and there are no lights to guide the way. Everything else is just right. We are planning to spend another vacation there next summer.
Thank you for having a place for my family to make memories.
This camp feels like a cozy, warm and inviting place. We love the size of the rooms and the comfort of the beds. The laundry room is fantastic since we have little ones. The kitchen is well stocked so you only need to bring food. The water area is amazing to say the least. We love fishing off the shore, the amount and variety of boats, the dock to swim to, the gazebo, the firepit and the lawn area for the kids to play. We had a fire every afternoon and evening. We are hooked on Mary's camp and we just booked our summer 2024 third camp stay at this lovely cabin and fantastic water area. It is not modern at all and that is what we love about it. We used to rent a modern camp but it did not feel cozy and it was not comfortable. We found this gem that meets our needs for our family camp trip. The check in and check out are so easy! We are all excited to be there again next year.
We had a great time on Bass Lake! Great location close to high peaks. Very secluded and nestled in the woods. Great using the kayaks and seeing some fall foliage!
We had a beautiful stay at the cabin. The leaves were newly turning and it is close to many places for a walk in the woods. We hiked to the loom lake fire tower, kayaked, made marshmallows and enjoyed the outdoors. Also found a large amount of chicken of the woods mushrooms in the woods behind the cabin!
The perfect getaway to relax in nature. We've stayed here 3 times and absolutely love it. Quiet, secluded and has everything you need to enjoy the cabin and the water. The host is wonderful as well, great communication and hospitality. Looking forward to returning in the future!
We had a great stay overall! The view was wonderful, and we really enjoyed how private and peaceful the property was. The screened-in porch was a favorite spot, and having kayaks available was a huge plus—we loved being out on the lake. The fire pit was another highlight for evenings. That said, a few things could be improved. It would have been nice to know ahead of time that the lake access was across the street rather than directly on the property. The lake area itself could use a bit of maintenance. Inside, one of the stove burners wasn’t working, there were no butter knives, and the wooden toilet seat was splintering.Even with those small issues, the host was very responsive and helpful, and we still had a wonderful time.
This is a great place! The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is stocked, the screen room is perfect for coffee in the morning, the fishing (off the shore) is fantastic, the boats are plenty and the memories we make here are priceless! We are return campers year after year! Mary responds quickly to any messages. If you are looking for a rustic get-a-way in a very private setting this place is perfect! We are already planning for next summer.
This was the perfect cozy cabin for our winter vacation. It is perfect if you love a private peaceful scene in the woods. About 30 minutes from towns. Very comfortable, and the Mary is incredibly responsive and helpful. We went to towns, ice fishing on the private lake, had ourselves a day catching so many perch, and relaxed by the fire inside. Highly recommend if you like the quietness of the woods and being outdoors as lots of trails and hikes to do as well!
Ces vacances ont été idylliques merci beaucoup tout a été parfait , on avait tous les produits de première nécessité à disposition et l'accès au lac est juste sublime avec les bateaux canoë et autres, je remercierai jamais assez pour ce séjour merci beaucoup
Everything about this place was perfect my only gripe is it rained 4 days and was cold. Otherwise would have been a perfect vaca
Driveway is a little steep had a little bit of a hard
Time going up it but managed. Wish I knew how far away gas station was could have been in trouble not knowing. Cabin was very clean and rustic. Loved it!!
Great and remote location! Really liked the layout of the cabin, though the outdoor patio and lakeside table were hard to use with the dust. The lake was pretty! It's not swimmable this time of year with the tadpoles.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Whitney
Owners include a busy Registered Nurse and Carpenter who have three grown children, grandkids and a whole family of fur friends. The property was originally acquired for a quiet get away outside of how busy life can get. We've been provided such a relaxing safe harbor for our family, and in turn would like to share it with others.
Why they chose this property
A perfect true get-a-way while still being close to main activity destinations. This cabin can be whatever you like it to be. A home away from home in the fresh crisp mountain air and blustering views. Mountain, Lake Therapy while still remaining modest at its core.
