Coastal Retreat in Selkirk Island, Matagorda, Texas

Coastal Retreat is a peaceful and private getaway from the hustle bustle of home and work. It sits on a large plot of land with a beautiful pond overlooking a peaceful pasture. Bring your binoculars to view the variety of migratory birds and the deer that can be seen on the property. There is a large covered back porch with deck chairs to enjoy the restful Matagorda breezes.
The house is elevated which allows for a nice, breezy covered area underneath for entertaining. A BBQ grill has been provided along with a large picnic table. Nearby is a fire pit with wood furnished to burn while you enjoy the Matagorda sunsets. There is a spacious lawn for children to play games and there is plenty of parking for your boat along with a water hose nearby. The house has two bedrooms. The master has a new king mattress, all new bedding and a 40” smart TV. The guest room has bunk beds which are Full Extra Long over Queen. Mattresses and all bedding are new and the guest room also has a 40” smart TV. The home has a recently updated kitchen with a granite island, a range with convection oven, microwave, toaster and coffee pot. The kitchen is furnished with dishes, utensils and cookware and also has utensils for BBQ grill. Coastal Retreat is a short drive to nearby Matagorda Harbor where there is a boat ramp. Matagorda Beach is a favorite destination for fishing, swimming, beach combing and bird watching.

Beautiful Retreat!

We were Susan and Terry's first renters and we loved it! We'd never been to Matagorda Beach but it was awesome. Less touristy. Drive right on the beach for $10/yr. (Make sure you bring your 4x4 though...the sand is soft! Lots of folks were getting stuck.) There's a parking lot within walking distance if you don't have an off road vehicle. But the beach itself was clean (for the gulf) and fun! The only downside is that this retreat is an escape so there's nothing "close by." You're a good 30 minutes from dinner, shopping, etc. But the home is comfy with all the amenities and the view! It's spectacular.

This is exactly what me and my partner needed. We loved staying in Susan house it was so peaceful and had everything we needed. Loved the country and loved the beach so beautiful. And the nice little restaurants around the area are wonderful with kind people. My partner loved it and he said we definitely should come back. Susan was a great host and very kind !! Great stay!

Don't stay unless you enjoy being bothered by owner.

Owner hovered and came to property twice in 12 hrs. I've stayed at many vrbo properties and never dealt with owner/ manager popping in unannounced. She won't get many repeat customers and that's guaranteed. No where does the rules say you can't have a guest during daytime hours. Complaining of having 5 instead of 4 daytime visitors (not overnight guests) made an uncomfortable stay. Would not recommend this property unless you enjoy being watched and confronted.
