About this property

“The Summit Cabin” <br>An Off the Grid Hideaway

The Summit Cabin was originally built as a high altitude logging and nature and hunting retreat. While completely “Off the Grid” it is accessible by a moderate+ hike of about 15 +/- minutes from the main road at the Sawmill. Up to two cars can be parked there in privacy and safety.
The lower main room has a full size futon, a living/dining/kitchen area. The bathroom with shower, sink and composting toilet are in an adjoining room. A small solar system provides 12V DC and limited 110V AC power.
Outside is a grill, a fire pit and camp area.
The entire space is available to select nature and outdoor enthusiasts.
Again to point out this space is totally off the grid. While it has everything to be comfortable it is on a rugged mountain out in the woods.
Guests have access to vast mountain area. There is a private trail leading into the Pisgah National Forrest. The plateau where the cabin is located is very flat and cleared, about 1/2 ace in size. Ideal build a campfire, watch a variety of wildlife and do some incredible star gazing at night.
Pets are allowed - just make sure they don’t get lost - it is a huge, untouched area. Phone service is excellent up there and internet can be made available. Once you decide on that space I will give you personalized guidance for safety and comfort.
Other things to note
Parking will be at the main road by the Sawmill. The moderate hike up will take about 15 +/- minutes. Solid hiking boots, walking stick’s are a highly recommended. The trails are not marked.
My self and “Betsy” my Honda UTV (which made it possible to build this place) will bring your supplies up at the beginning of your stay, and back down at the end of your stay (weather permitting).
One should be in decent shape to get safely up and down this hill side.

Wunder schon
As said, off grid, total privacy, nature all around. The hike to the cabin is not something you want to do more than twice a day at 65 yrs old however the 7 year old grandsons ran up.

Cabin Experience
It was definitely a unique experience of the outdoors, hospitality was great, and had a great view of the nearby moutains and woodlands. The hike to the cabin was 10-15 and pretty steep at some parts, so definitely save some energy to hike back. All in all was great, not too far from asheville or the places i wanted to hike.
