Welcome to Cairn Cottage. This beautiful, entirely tasteful and comfortable Lake Superior home sits right on the shore of Lake Superior. Quiet, private and easy to get to the water's edge and enjoy what you came for...the sounds and sight of the water and waves. We can't say enough about how well-appointed this home is and our guests can't say enough about it either! The two spacious bedrooms both have lake views, cozy & comfortable beds/bedding and they each have a 3/4 bath right next to them. One main floor bedroom and one upper level bedroom plus the loft. The upper level loft accommodates two guests comfortably on the plush twin beds. Did I mention that there are Lake Superior views from practically everywhere inside this gorgeous place!?

Absolutely beautiful cabin and setting. Great decks, nice fire pit by the water, easy access to the beach. Close to Grand Marais and Lutsen. Could it ask for anything better. Gorgeous sunrises right from the deck or front room.

Great Stay! Great View!

Cottage Cairn is one of the best cabins on the North Shore. Solidly built. Well appointed. Comfortable beds. And the best view of Lake Superior anywhere. We really enjoyed our stay.

Red Cabin on the Lake

This is a picturesque perfect place right on the lake. I love that you can see Superior right from the windows. I love the firepit on the side of the cabin. I think the cabin feel inside is un matched, yet the modern appliances and kitchen are really nice. Over all the place is worth the money and a great place to stay. Do not hesitate. The location was top notch as well!

Great Location

We were a group of two families, both with 1 child each. The cabin is well designed and furnished, and was a great location for us as a group of both Alpine and Nordic skiers. The loft twin day beds and lack of a private third bedroom are not ideal for adults, but worked for our 18 yr olds and would be similarly good for children. The location right on Lake Superior was wonderful. I would definitely rent this cabin again.

Cairn’s

Best stay in 46 years. No rain over 7 days. The lake was calm and peaceful for the first 4 days. Do clear you could see the bottom. We never experienced this in the 46 years we’ve been going to the North Shore.

Superior! Lake Superior Cottage

Beautiful property right on the shore of Lake Superior. Very clean. Perfect for 4. Great fire ring for bonfires just above the long, walkable cobblestone beach. Property manager and maintenance people were very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately the gas fireplace was not working properly & couldn’t be fixed during our visit. We were disappointed that we couldn’t enjoy fires during the blustery weather of our stay. No one’s fault; just a big disappointment.

The Cairn Cottage is absolutely lovely - a real gem! Well-appointed, clean, comfy. More than that, there is an overall feeling of peace and relaxation as well as hygge. The host left clear instructions about the property, and communication was excellent.

Gorgeous Cottage right on the lake! It's even more beautiful in person. Waking up to the sunrise every morning was a gift, as was falling asleep to the waves of Superior.

peaceful stay

Very much enjoyed our stay at Carin Cottage. It was a chilly 4th of July (55 in AM and water 44 degrees). Enjoyed walking along the shoreline, having a campfire and exploring parks and shops to the North. Close to parks and shops with privacy at the adorable and pristine cottage. Wonderful views of the lake from every window.

Outstanding views on the lake

Well appointed, very clean cottage! This is our 2nd time staying and it just keeps getting better. Comfortable beds and furniture. The BEST views, right on the lake. Listen to the waves crashing and when it’s calm watch boats go by. Many outdoor spaces to relax, visit, and have a cup of coffee. I cannot wait to come back.

Ski vacation

5 people, 4 skiers and one who loves some alone time. Close to the ski hill, the short drive to Lutsen is worth the amazing view, hearing the waves all night, and comfy living. Great communication and loved the gift of pancake mix and syrup! Perfect for 2 couples and one teen. Only bad thing was the book and game selection was so good I didn't get to any of the projects I brought along!

Always lovely

This is our third time staying at this cabin. We always enjoy the proximity of the lake and the short drive to Lutsen. The cabin is always clean and cozy. Only issue is the fireplace that wouldn’t stay on for more than 10-15 mins and then wouldn’t turn back on for hours, which was a bummer after a chilly day on the hill.
