Welcome to Tofte Cove! With its large flat lot, beautifully updated home and amazing views, our property is ideal for groups of all ages. It’s conveniently located near some of the North Shore’s most popular hiking, skiing, biking and dining spots. Enjoy amazing views from two expansive decks, private lake access to relax by the water, or a cozy bonfire overlooking the lake.

Inside, you’ll find an inviting, upscale home recently remodeled with new appliances and all the amenities. The main level has two bedrooms (1 king; 1 double/1 twin), full bath with rain shower and separate soaking tub, gourmet kitchen with large dining area, and spacious living room with vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. The lower level includes a 3/4 bath and family room featuring a smart TV for movie nights and sofa sleeper for extra guests. Large windows and decks on both levels showcase nature in all seasons. Outside there’s a gas grill, adirondack chairs, fire pit and ample parking.
From Tofte Cove, it’s 2 minutes to Tofte, 15 minutes to Lutsen Mountain and 45 minutes to Grand Marais by car. Or, walk or bike the paved Gitchee-Gummi trail for miles—there’s an access point at the end of our driveway. Cross-country ski lovers can join the Sugarbush Trail System just across Highway 61. Nearby attractions include Superior National Golf Course, Lutsen Ski Resort and Temperance River State Park.

We throughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and as depicted. It would be helpful to have a lit up marker or even reflectors where you turn in off the highway at night. Lovely view and so very convenient spot on the North Shore.

Excellent property. The house was clean and convenient for our group. The property itself is spectacular with excellent views. The downstairs pull out couch worked out perfectly as a “third” bedroom/ sleeping space. I’d highly recommend this accommodation.

The house was lovely for a ladies weekend! Kitchen extremely well stocked - we cooked often and had everything we needed. Swam, biked, played games on deck. Very nice that we had access to garage to store our bikes. We would definitely rent it again one of our favorite stays!

Superior - in so many ways!

This accommodation offered a much-needed getaway for a busy family of four. We ate most meals here and the kitchen was very well-stocked with quality cooking items that were easy to locate and easy to use. The home was very, very clean and cozy and whilst we enjoyed exploring local sights and hiking during the day, we also looked forward to coming back 'home' and settling in on the patio overlooking Lake Superior, cuddling under a blanket with a good book, hanging out in the cove area, and also having s'mores over a campfire.We would highly recommend this location and accommodation for its location, the communication before/during/after our stay, and of course the beautiful views overlooking Lake Superior. Fabulous accommodation!

Gorgeous Views and Peaceful Stay

We spent a week here and loved every minute. The property had everything we needed along with several personal touches. Right on the lake, but up a bit from shore. There is a short path down to the cove which is walkable for anyone who does not have mobility issues. Newly renovated throughout. Would definitely recommend and likely will stay again!!

Tofte Cove - central location North Shore

I spent a week at Tofte Cove with my college friends. We wanted to explore Superior's north shore and Tofte was a great central location for our expeditions. The place was located off MN-61, but was not noisy despite the well-travelled road. It was a beautiful setting, clean, fully-stocked kitchen (I brought things in case, and didn't need them). I would highly recommend this for a vacation stay.

Excellent stay

We had a wonderful week. The house was exceptionally clean (comfort in this COVID period). The kitchen was very well stocked, right down to having a peeler! Beds were comfortable. Lots of DVDs for movie nights. And the biggest plus was being right on the bike trail. Third time on the North Shore and this by far was our favorite rental. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing views, great location to optimal hiking

What a week we had! We love to hike and have been to North Shore several times. This house was gorgeous. Everything you need to cook, rest, bike, sit by a campfire, read, walk, and enjoy sit on the deck and take in the views. Totally remodelled so everything was like brand new! Just an hour and a half or so we were able to pop over to Canada and see the huge falls there and on the same day hiked to the Middle Falls at Grand Portage. What an idle situation for a lovely, fun, and romantic experience. Thank you to our wonderful host. She was terrific!

Purely serene

This place is nearly perfect and the owners take pride in this property. They provide so many amenities down to the toilet paper. One thing to take note is that the cove is completely private and you are the only one that can access it from the property. Be aware this is a strenuous walk down to thr cove and back up will give you a workout. Totally worth it though. The rocks get slippery with algae so tread carefully. One improvement I would recommend is put A/C in the house even though it’s not hot weather here often we had 80’s and 90’s for a few days and the house was uncomfortable. We were expecting cooler weather but it was warmer than usual this year. Aside from that this is by far the best Vrbo we have rented and would recommend to anyone. Thank you to the host for your care in providing us the opportunity to stay in your amazing lake house.

Perfect location!

We didn't take our senior dog to the North Shore this year so that opened up other options for places to stay. Tofte Cove was perfect for us. We used the grill every night and ate dinner on the deck overlooking the lake. We love going biking and bought our bikes up this year. It is only about a 6 mile ride to the winery on the Gitchi gami trail (house is right on the trail). Close to the grocery store, Coho cafe and Sawbill outfitters (for canoe rental etc.) The owner had suggestions for hikes and places to eat. It was just my husband and myself but the home has plenty of room for more people. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The smaller bedroom has a double bed and a single. You would share the main floor bath with the primary bedroom. Perfect for a family. The downstairs room has a sleeper sofa and a view of the lake along with a small bathroom with a shower. If coming with a second couple, you could have separate spaces/bathrooms. Our only trouble was knowing where to turn left when driving back from Grand Marais. We missed it every time. GPS was slightly off. Having a decorative flag would be helpful near the mailbox. Highly recommend staying here! Perfect stay!

3rd time and will keep coming back. For us, the house is amazing as other reviewers have mentioned. We stay in a lot of VRBOs and nothing matches this one. It's also close to all of our favorite North Shore hiking - only 2 miles from the Temperance River and another one - Oberg Mountain. The managers of this property are kind, attentive, accommodating, and responsive. If you love the Ninja Ice Cream maker we bought one and left it there for others to have their protein desserts that taste just like real ice cream. We love this place and the people who own and manage it!

Tofte Cove

Tofte Cove was the perfect place for my family to stay. The grandchildren loved the open grounds for running and the cove for rock throwing and climbing. The cabin was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to return for another fun family get away.
