Our family had a great time at this dog-friendly property in Lutsen. It was comfortable and homey. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 pups to stretch out. Easy access to a variety of state parks, Grand Marais and an EV superfast charger in Tofte. The owner is kind and communicative. We spent a lot of time staring at the lake from the hammock and reading in the sun.

Peaceful and Secluded

The storm had knocked over two trees. But home had a pretty shoreline, and you can see the other property's shore access, but the homes are pretty tucked in. We enjoyed a fire the final night, but it was kind of a drippy, cool weekend. Home is comfortable, and we loved the little kitchen and dining area.

Beautiful views!

Loved the location! Very comfortable, beautiful, scenic location. Always love staying on the north shore. Only slight complaint is low water pressure, but that was not a big deal. Would book again :)

Spectacular View

Wonderfully relaxing stay on a beautifully, well kept property! Owners were easy to work with and responsive to any questions. The only draw back I have is that now others will want to stay making it more difficult for me to book in the future 😀.

the best

we have stayed at Twin Cedars for the past 5 years. We have always had the best experiences to share. Twin Cedars has always been exceptionally clean and well kept, Becky and Jim have been easy to communicate with and extremely accommodating. The location is excellent for access to Lutsen (I prefer to ski, my wife and Rex lodge it). Happy lodgers. We will return often.

Colors galore

Our stay at this property was awesome. It’s in a perfect location for exploring the area and seeing lots of fall colors. The house is quite comfortable, with plenty of space for the three of us. The kitchen is very well stocked with necessities and there are tons of games, puzzles, movies and books to enjoy when you’re not out exploring.

Phenomenal find!

A wonderful cabin nestled in the woods on Superior. Excellent games/puzzles/books & DVDs. Fully stocked kitchen with anything you might need (including tons of spices). The gated deck is a huge plus as we could sit outside with the dogs. Super pet friendly & a perfect location near great hikes.

Stay on lake superior

This place is amazing! I can't emphasis enough how unique and beatiful the outdoor space is at this property. We were here in late June. There's been a fair ammount of rain lately, and the creek/waterfall that runs thourgh the yard was in full swing. I did cold plunges in lake superior every morning. We hit the alpine slide at lutsen, and did a few hikes in the area. What a great trip!

Gorgeous shoreline and natural gardens

This property has it all. Beautiful Lake Superior shoreline with lots of ways to enjoy it (fire ring, picnic area, strategically placed seating and hammock), little trails, natural landscape, profuse wildflowers, wrap around deck with birdfeeders, tasteful interior with great room and separate livingroom/TV area. Master bedroom very comfortable. It is set back from the road and feels very private. We loved it.

Pefect for weekend at Lutsen Mountains

This property worked out great for our group and 2 dogs. It is close to the ski hill (about a 5-8 minute drive) and has a beautiful view of the lake. It slept all of us comfortably. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, utensils and appliances, so we were able to bring up all of our meals and cook full breakfasts and dinners. There's even a playstation 3 (which can also play blu-rays, of course) to game on or watch movies. There is no internet or TV subscription, but we didn't mind. We'd not hesitate to rent this property again for next year!

winter get-away

Becky and Jim are excellent hosts. We were taken care of immediately for little items. We thoroughly enjoyed the shores of Gitchi-Goomie from the warm comforts of Twin Cedars (and a Spruce). Although lacking a hot tub, the accomodations are exceptional, a home in the woods away from home. I enjoy the proximity to Lutsen, Constance enjoys access to Hallmark and spending time with Rex. We enjoy stopping to shop and visit Hans at edgewater trading co in Tofte, and the live music at Cascade lodge. We are regulars and will continue to be thanks to the warm hospitality of Becky and Jim.

A wonderful retreat

My husband and my daughters and son-in law spent a long weekend at Twin Cedars( except one is a Spruce) and had such a great time, the place was clean, comfortable cozy and felt like home, very welcoming. We just loved the outdoor space. it showed so much respect for the natural world and it felt lush and magical. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and pots and pans. We cooked all of our meals and had two wonderful fires at night, we would have had more but rain didn't allow. Becky and Jim were so easy to work with and gracious, we will be back with another entry in the guest book. MY dog Maddie loved walking thew rocky shore line and exploring the paths. I would highly recommend it.

One of our favorites

This is one of our favorite spots. My wife and I rented the cabin 2 years ago. We didn’t visit last year because she was pregnant and not feeling well, but we couldn’t wait to make it this year and bring our 7 month old son. I’m a huge fan of the place. It’s big enough that you don’t feel trapped if it’s raining, but is still quaint and has the up north cabin feel. The location is awesome... wooded lot on Lake Superior (we love sitting by the water and walking on the rocks), only 20-25 minutes to Grand Marais, and less than 5 minutes to Lutsen. We had a couple minor issues, but not worth listing or changing my review. Becky was great to communicate with. We plan in being back again!

Great size A Frame!

We really enjoyed our stay at this great A frame house/cabin. Just enough space for everyone to sleep and be comfortable as well and together to enjoy each other. Also enough space and locations in the cabin where those teens and seek refuge and be alone when needed. Great bonfire area right next to the lake; as well as exploring on the large Superior rocks! Which were so much fun for the kids and dog. Really loved that the bed linens and bathroom towels were included, well stocked kitchen for baking brownies and cooking. Loved the kitchen dining area with the full wall seating. You know everyone always wants to be in the kitchen and this was a great space for that with family and kids playing games and others who wanted to be there and watch but not play! Living room area was fantastic as well on those nights where the mosquitoes just wounds allow a fire to gather and watch movies! Great back deck for those mornings with coffee the dog and watching the birds and listening to the water. Close to all the great Mnt Biking locations; as well as Grand Marias! Definitely would come back again!

Both Jim and I grew up in the Chicago area and live in the City now.
My husband Jim has been traveling to the North Shore since he was boy and has great memories of his family vacations there.
My first trip to the North Shore was just after we were married 15 years ago. I fell in love with area immediately and never wanted our vacations to come to an end.

Why they chose this property

We have been looking for the perfect house and piece of property ever since our first trip up together. Finally our dream came true this past year.
Growing up in, and living in Chicago now, we love the fact, that when at Twin Cedars we can't see our neighbors. That was very important to us.
We try to get to Twin Cedars every chance we get but in the mean time want to share this beautiful piece of the North Shore with you.

What makes this property unique

I remember vividly my first glimpse of Lake Superior right from the driveway. As I walked down the gentle sloping path into the yard for the first time, I saw a cute little footbridge crossing over a seasonal creek. Not only did I have a beautiful, walkable, ledge rock shore stretching out in front of me but a babbling brook as well.
As I strolled up the small creek bed lined with stones and wild roses I realized we had a small Springtime waterfall located just off the deck. This is one of my husbands favorite things to enjoy while grilling.
Inside the house is all 'Knotty pine' that gives you that true 'Up North' feeling.
This is a 1960's custom built house with lots of fun interesting features. With the updated track lighting you can either do some fine needle work and reading or have a cozy family movie night.
Both the Family room and A-Frame have fantastic views of the lake. Just off the A-Fame are a few bird feeders rigged to attract a variety of species and with windows all around being from floor to ceiling the bird watching can be exceptional. It sometimes feels like you are in your own tree house.
The Family room has a huge picture window that looks out over the deck and Lake Superior. You can see all the way to the Horizon here.
