I visited with my three boys (ages 9, 11, and 13) in June. It really is perfect for kids who like either indoor OR outdoor fun. The boys played basketball, fished, kayaked, and used the crab trap. We found bait at a 7-eleven, and a Food Lion nearby. Sunset down on the dock is really pretty so take pics. The owner made sure to bring down the floating mats for the boys and even helped them de-hook a fish. Inside the house they enjoyed the large TV, and arcade games. We visited Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. The drive was maybe 30-40 minutes but went by quick. It is important to note that the entrances for top and bottom floor are separate and the rooms are not connected interiorly. This didnt cause any issues for us, but it is good to note. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

Perfect for our visit. This was one of the very few places without steps. Was great for my elderly mother. Property is beautifully located on the river. Made for some great quiet time. Nice for teenagers and kids to have their own space below and a nice retreat above for the adults. Would be nice to come back in the summer!

Fantastic place for a weekend getaway

My family and I loved staying here. Was such a great place and my teenagers loved having access to the pool table, air hockey and arcade games in the room they were sleeping in! Was only 30 minutes from Busch Gardens too!

Excellent riverfront property!

My family and I had a great time kayaking on the river! The property was also convenient for visiting Williamsburg area sites. The property owner was friendly and helpful. Property was clean and accurate to the listing.

Wonderful river retreat!

We loved our stay. Rode our bikes from Richmond and it was a great place to relax. Beautiful views of the river and so peaceful. The host could not have been more accommodating, he was super nice! We took the boat taxi to Blue Heron restaurant both nights and it was lovely. We hope to return soon.

Quiet retreat close to Colonial historical triangle

River House - Charles City, VA

Absolutely beautiful place on the river - We only stayed in the area two days and had other obligations and didn’t get to enjoy all the offered amenities. But will definitely keep this location as a favorite and we hope to return soon.

Quiet, good scenery, lots to do.

My 6 year old loves all the games downstairs. My wife and I enjoyed the quietness and the scenery. Close to Williamsburg. A fun experience all around.

Amazing sunsets

This place provided the peace and refreshment that we needed. Fishing fun on the dock (biggest fish caught was almost 8 pounds!), a great place to kayak, and endless indoor entertainment for the rainy days (pool, air hockey, video games, giant Jenga). Despite the rain, we had a great time. The sunsets were amazing! James Divine answered all my questions and was a delightful host.
