Edith was a great host and was quick to check in to make sure everything was up to expectations. The house was clean and in a great location for our outings at Acadia and Bar Harbor. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay! The home was spotless, spacious, and incredibly quiet, a great place to unwind after a day exploring Acadia. Check-in was seamless, and the location was perfect, bordering Acadia National Park and just a 15-minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor.Edie was great to work with and made everything easy. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
The house was clean but is very old and there is no AC. The only bedroom downstairs only had a twin bed. I had wanted to have my in-laws in a downstairs bedroom but they had to be upstairs. There was no AC so it was very hot and sleeping was a bit challenging. It is pretty isolated from stores and restaurants but close to Acadia. Very expensive for 3 days.

Jen, I am sorry you were warm at night. Air conditioning is very uncommon in Seal Harbor because nighttime temperatures average around 55 F. Every bedroom has fans to bring the cool air in. If any guest has an issue with being too warm at night I would gladly give a discount, but that has not happened. I’m sorry you thought there would be a queen in the downstairs bedroom—I do not show a queen in my photos or descriptions. But I have ordered a queen bed for that room and it arrives in a week.
Best, Edie
This house was perfect for our family of 7. Well stocked, very clean, and communication with our host was fantastic!
Would stay here again if back in the area again.
Nice stay close from the National Park and Bar Harbor
We liked our stay at Edie's place. We were a large group of 8 and were easily accommodated in the house. The house is quiet and well equipped for a large group and is conveniently located from the National park and Bar Harbor. I would definitely recommend the place.
Perfect for a trip with a group of friends, would definitely stay here again! The house was perfect for our group (3 couples + 2 siblings), great location for any outings across the island, and plenty of space for us to hang out or eat in without feeling on top of each other. Owner was very helpful and friendly
This is a very well kept old house, full of New England charm, well stocked, with very comfortable beds. It's super convenient to Acadia and Bar Harbor without being in the middle of the hubbub. We had a lovely time!
Edie’s place was perfect for our family getaway! Great location - 15 minutes to Acadia hikes (Cadillac & Beehive) and easy stroll (.5 miles) to Seal Harbor beach. Restaurants of Bar Harbor are a short drive which makes this rental a great choice.
The house it self is huge and well stocked with everything you need for a group trip. Great value for the stay!
This house is located in a tidy, quiet neighborhood with walking access to Acadia carriage roads and a charming small beach. It has a vintage look and feel but is very clean and well equipped with mostly newer appliances and good bed linens and towels, and a very well equipped kitchen. It has a very large back deck. Communication with the owner was outstanding.
The house was perfect for our stay. A great location for Acadia National Park, just minutes away. The home is older and we loved that! Communication with the owners was very quick whenever we had questions.
The home is perfect for visiting Acadia National Park. It has plenty of room for the family. The location to the park is great. The area is quiet and has a diner and coffee shop a short walk away. You could also walk to the pick up for the Island explorer if needed. We would definitely stay again.
The house was clean, spacious, and in a beautiful location. The beach and village green are a quick walk away, and Bar Harbor and restaurantsj a 15 minute drive. Clean linens and plenty of towels and hot water. I look forward to coming back with my family this summer!
This property was clean, charming and in a great location with easy access to the carriage trail in Acadia. The house was well stocked with all that was needed and the host was easy to communicate with.
What a unique place! The house was spacious, clean and very close to the Seal Harbor beach, a quiet and serene alternative to Bar Harbor. Beautiful scenery all around. Edie was quick to respond to our questions. We had everything we needed and would definitely stay again!
My 3 friends and I took a road trip to Maine from Virginia. This house was the perfect location for Acadia National Park and Bar Harbour. The house was clean and enough room for all of us. It was great.

This home is quite comfortable with well equipped kitchen and many other amenities.
The host was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. The location is perfect for accessing the carriage roads and the many trails from Jordan Pond, as well as the popovers!
Perfect location - quiet, friendly and close to hiking and biking. Good nearby restaurant and great bike rental/store - but not crowded like Bar Harbor. Edie was very flexible with us and super-fast to answer questions and give great suggestions. House was well-stocked. We are already planning our next visit!

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay—hope to see you next year!
Traveling with a group of cyclists and this house was just perfect. Just outside the park and not too far from Bar Harbor. Host was great and the garage with sofas was a sweet place to land after a day riding the park and Cadillac Mtn.
Lots of space in a great location, away from the traffic of Bar Harbor and close to the truly lovely Seal Cove area. Outdoor deck looks over a forest. Easy to get to Park entrance and use their buses. Owner was very helpful. Second bathroom on second floor is quite tiny, but not a problem.

About the host
Hosted by Edith Dunham
My family has spent summers in Seal Harbor for 5 generations. My daughters and I have spent many winters here as well, enjoying Mount Desert Island in all weather. I love to share the beauty and magic of Seal Harbor, and I hope you have a great experience!
Why they chose this property
After selling the house I grew up in here, I bought this house from my cousins who were moving into assisted living. I love the feeling of the woods off of the deck and the quiet street. I am improving the house constantly, trying to upgrade the furniture, upholstery, and rugs. I have bought all new mattresses for the beds, new couches, a dining room table as well as the deck furniture.
What makes this property unique
Every direction you walk in from my house brings you somewhere beautiful. You can walk to the beach and the village green any time of day, or walk up the hill towards the Jordan Pond house and the carriage roads, or walk up Mackenzie Rd. to the Dunham School and the small playground.
