Quiet oasis across the street from Acadia and just steps from the harbor
Relax with the whole family at this quiet, peaceful place in the center of Seal Harbor village. Acadia is literally across the street and the best carriage roads in the park are a short walk down the street in one direction, with Seal Harbor Beach a short walk in the other. Pemetic, Penobscot, Cadillac, and Day mountains are all accessible without even getting into the car. It is a short walk out the front door to Jordan Pond House, Wildwood Stables, and Seal Harbor Beach.
In classic Maine fashion, this handsome cottage was originally built in 1890 as a workshop for a local carpenter. It has since been lovingly restored and converted to a summer home in the best spot on the island for easy access to carriage roads, central peaks, and sailing in the Great Harbor.
A one-floor living space featuring an open concept kitchen, dining, and living space. The space is incredibly bright, with windows covering the entire western end of the building and plenty of southern exposure.
There is a large pullout couch and an oversized chair and ottoman in the main living room and a dining table that seats six.
The kitchen is clean, efficient, and outfitted with all of the necessary tools. All of the artwork featured throughout the house is by local artisans.
There are two bedrooms, both with oversized windows for plenty of light. The master has a queen bed with double closet. The second bedroom has a double and a twin bed with double closet.
Outdoors is a seating area with cedar Adirondack chairs made by a local craftsman and a Weber propane grill for your use.
There is plenty of parking for up to three vehicles. A full size washer and dryer are free to use as needed.

Our third stay here! This cottage is very conveniently located in Seal Harbor with quick access to Acadia on foot or by car. The sandy beach is a short walk down the street and is such a bonus. Very quiet location. Clean and comfortable with a nice floorplan for families. We'll be back next year!
When reviewing the guests books you can see many families spend season after season here and it’s easy to understand why! You immediately feel at home and peace when you walk in. The location is perfect to hit so many hikes and things to do around Acadia, it was easy to pop in and out as needed throughout the day and not waste a lot of time. Not to mention the place was SPOTLESS! The washer and dryer were also very helpful. It’s the perfect place.
The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. After hiking or biking all day it was the perfect place to retreat.
Cozy home conveniently located close to Acadia National Park
The property was well maintained and clean, the owner was very responsive throughout the booking process and was very helpful in finding nearby activities to keep my fiance and I occupied during our visit.
Perfect location for exploring Acadia. Away from the business of bar harbor but quick and easy drive to restaurants and shops. Within walking distance of e bike rentals which was a great way to explore the park. House was in a quiet area and very clean. Would definitely recommend/stay there again for my next Acadia trip. Michael was quick to respond to any questions.

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
The house was quiet and the location excellent. I thought it was overpriced and it irritated me that there was a fee for my kids when the house is intended for 4 people.
This cosy, charming place tucked away in a neighborhood was a perfect base for us to explore the park by bike, on foot and so convenient to the other small towns of Mt Desert Island. It was a very memorable visit and we were delighted with its sunny and comfortable location.

This place was so cute and made getting in to Acadia easy. My only complaint was it was listed for up to 6 people but there was an extra charge for more than 4 guests which wasn’t obvious until checkout. However we had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay!

The place was a perfect place to stay for a visit to Acadia. Within walking distance to the carriage roads and a very short drive to the entrance to the park. About the host
Hosted by Michael
We are a local, year-round family who moved to the island for all of the same reasons you are looking to vacation here.
We spend time in the park every day, whether it is a walk on the carriage roads, a hike up nearby Pemetic, Penobscot, or Cadillac, or a morning run up those same mountains. In the summer, we also spend as much time as possible kayaking, sailing and fishing in the Great Harbor or swimming in nearby favorite swimming holes.
We live nearby and will be available to help with anything needed during your stay. We may even be willing to share some insider tips on hidden gems around the island … maybe ;-)
Why they chose this property
Enjoy Acadia the way it was meant to be enjoyed - the way the Rockefellers and Rusticators enjoyed it - in the peace and quiet of Seal Harbor. Acadia is literally across the street and carriage road entry is a short walk down the road, with easy access to Cadillac, Pemetic, Penobscot, Sargent, and Day mountains and all of the area surrounding Jordan Pond. No need to get in the car to enjoy the Park! Seal Harbor Beach and the lovely Great Harbor area are a short walk down the hill.
