About this property

Quiet oasis across the street from Acadia and just steps from the harbor

Relax with the whole family at this quiet, peaceful place in the center of Seal Harbor village. Acadia is literally across the street and the best carriage roads in the park are a short walk down the street in one direction, with Seal Harbor Beach a short walk in the other. Pemetic, Penobscot, Cadillac, and Day mountains are all accessible without even getting into the car. It is a short walk out the front door to Jordan Pond House, Wildwood Stables, and Seal Harbor Beach.

In classic Maine fashion, this handsome cottage was originally built in 1890 as a workshop for a local carpenter. It has since been lovingly restored and converted to a summer home in the best spot on the island for easy access to carriage roads, central peaks, and sailing in the Great Harbor.

A one-floor living space featuring an open concept kitchen, dining, and living space. The space is incredibly bright, with windows covering the entire western end of the building and plenty of southern exposure.

There is a large pullout couch and an oversized chair and ottoman in the main living room and a dining table that seats six.

The kitchen is clean, efficient, and outfitted with all of the necessary tools. All of the artwork featured throughout the house is by local artisans.

There are two bedrooms, both with oversized windows for plenty of light. The master has a queen bed with double closet. The second bedroom has a double and a twin bed with double closet.

Outdoors is a seating area with cedar Adirondack chairs made by a local craftsman and a Weber propane grill for your use.

There is plenty of parking for up to three vehicles. A full size washer and dryer are free to use as needed.

Just a few minutes from Acsdia

This place was so cute and made getting in to Acadia easy. My only complaint was it was listed for up to 6 people but there was an extra charge for more than 4 guests which wasn’t obvious until checkout. However we had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay!

Acadia Summer Triip

My husband & I have been to Acadia several times and stayed in this location previously. We love the area and the cottage and have found it to be a great place for the things we love to do in Acadia. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We look forward to staying again in the future.

Great Cottage for exploring Mt Desert Isle

We spent a week at Hidden Place. We were looking for something close to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. Hidden Place met that criteria and more! The place was very clean and well furnished. Everything we needed and more! The owner was very professional from beginning to end. He was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and in making sure our rental needs were met. Looking forward to our next stay at Hidden Place. Sherry & Jim House Muldrow, Okla.

Perfect Location to Acadia

Loved this property. It was just my mom and I. We were not looking for anything special other than being close to Acadia. We also were not looking to be surrounded by people or to stay in a hotel. The location was spot on and literally right in the middle of Acadia. We rented a car so we did not need to utilize the park bus but we also were not there during a peak time. If we needed to use the bus the closest pick up location definitely would be walkable. I would say about a mile to Jordan Pond House (and you could even walk the carriage roads most of the way. Michael was a great host. He answered my questions quickly and was more than happy to give me a few dining suggestions. The house was perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend it and would most definitely stay there again if I went back to Acadia.

This home was fully equipped, kitchen and bathroom.Bring your own Keureg cups. Clean but outdated home fairly close to Acadia, Jordan Pond house entrance. Highly recommend an E bike tour through the park on carriage roads. Quiet safe neighborhood. 10 minutes to Bar Harbor. We arrived Friday night and the toilet clogged that evening. We tried everything and multiple times to unclog the toilet. We notified the owner on Saturday morning before we headed out. It was not resolved until Monday afternoon.

The house was clean and in great quiet location. We arrived late , but The host gave good direction and everything was ready. Adequately cooled and heated. We had to use both. There are not shops near by we picked up groceries on the way from Bangor at a Walmart . Stopped at the grocery store in Bar Harbor few days later. The store had what we needed, -prices were reasonable. You may need to bring some Foil, if your cooking and some storage bags to store your leftovers. We were there for a week. We saw the major sites…. Loved the Beauty of Acadia !

Perfect location for exploring Acadia. Away from the business of bar harbor but quick and easy drive to restaurants and shops. Within walking distance of e bike rentals which was a great way to explore the park. House was in a quiet area and very clean. Would definitely recommend/stay there again for my next Acadia trip. Michael was quick to respond to any questions.

The cottage is nice and clean in a quiet location. Very close to the Acadia national park and seal harbor beach. Easy communication with the owner. We love the kitchen, provided all things we need. We cooked one simple meal. We're very satisfied with everything at the cottage. The nearby restaurants at Northeast Harbor are limited, one was closed at dinner time during our visit, the other was not very good. For other days, we drove further to Bar Harbor where more good restaurants are located. Overall, we're very happy with our stay.

Lovely Spot for a Visit to Acadia

We had a lovely stay at this peaceful and well-kept property near Acadia. The space was quiet, clean, and comfortable: the perfect spot to return to after a day of exploring. The kitchen was well stocked, which made it easy to prepare meals for our adventures. While the listing says it’s "across the street from Acadia," it’s worth noting that the actual park entrance is about a 7-mile drive away. Not a big deal at all, but something to keep in mind. Overall, a great home base for enjoying the area!

We are a local, year-round family who moved to the island for all of the same reasons you are looking to vacation here. We spend time in the park every day, whether it is a walk on the carriage roads, a hike up nearby Pemetic, Penobscot, or Cadillac, or a morning run up those same mountains. In the summer, we also spend as much time as possible kayaking, sailing and fishing in the Great Harbor or swimming in nearby favorite swimming holes. We live nearby and will be available to help with anything needed during your stay. We may even be willing to share some insider tips on hidden gems around the island … maybe ;-)

Why they chose this property

Enjoy Acadia the way it was meant to be enjoyed - the way the Rockefellers and Rusticators enjoyed it - in the peace and quiet of Seal Harbor. Acadia is literally across the street and carriage road entry is a short walk down the road, with easy access to Cadillac, Pemetic, Penobscot, Sargent, and Day mountains and all of the area surrounding Jordan Pond. No need to get in the car to enjoy the Park! Seal Harbor Beach and the lovely Great Harbor area are a short walk down the hill.
