About this property

Quiet oasis across the street from Acadia and just steps from the harbor

Relax with the whole family at this quiet, peaceful place in the center of Seal Harbor village. Acadia is literally across the street and the best carriage roads in the park are a short walk down the street in one direction, with Seal Harbor Beach a short walk in the other. Pemetic, Penobscot, Cadillac, and Day mountains are all accessible without even getting into the car. It is a short walk out the front door to Jordan Pond House, Wildwood Stables, and Seal Harbor Beach.

In classic Maine fashion, this handsome cottage was originally built in 1890 as a workshop for a local carpenter. It has since been lovingly restored and converted to a summer home in the best spot on the island for easy access to carriage roads, central peaks, and sailing in the Great Harbor.

A one-floor living space featuring an open concept kitchen, dining, and living space. The space is incredibly bright, with windows covering the entire western end of the building and plenty of southern exposure.

There is a large pullout couch and an oversized chair and ottoman in the main living room and a dining table that seats six.

The kitchen is clean, efficient, and outfitted with all of the necessary tools. All of the artwork featured throughout the house is by local artisans.

There are two bedrooms, both with oversized windows for plenty of light. The master has a queen bed with double closet. The second bedroom has a double and a twin bed with double closet.

Outdoors is a seating area with cedar Adirondack chairs made by a local craftsman and a Weber propane grill for your use.

There is plenty of parking for up to three vehicles. A full size washer and dryer are free to use as needed.

Note: This property is available to book only from Saturday to Saturday

Fall Hiking in Acadia
If you're looking for a warm shower, space to un wind, and a comfortable bed after a long day of traipsing through the wilderness, this is the place. We were only there two nights, but it was a great place to recharge and crash. Its got a kuerig and a drip coffee maker (the most important appliances in my opion), and all the other important kitchen stuff. We only cooked pizzas in the oven. The beach is about a mile down the road, and there's a nice hiking trail about a half mile up the road. Check in was as easy as it can be, and check out was pretty standard. We had a great time.

Peaceful hideaway
The perfect home base to explore Acadia National Park and surrounding areas. Everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable, we found in the cottage. We loved how quiet the neighborhood around the property was and proximity to the beach. Our host Michael was very helpful and responsive. We really appreciate the recommendations he provided, which helped us make the most of our time there. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

We are a local, year-round family who moved to the island for all of the same reasons you are looking to vacation here. We spend time in the park every day, whether it is a walk on the carriage roads, a hike up nearby Pemetic, Penobscot, or Cadillac, or a morning run up those same mountains. In the summer, we also spend as much time as possible kayaking, sailing and fishing in the Great Harbor or swimming in nearby favorite swimming holes. We live nearby and will be available to help with anything needed during your stay. We may even be willing to share some insider tips on hidden gems around the island … maybe ;-)

Why they chose this property

Enjoy Acadia the way it was meant to be enjoyed - the way the Rockefellers and Rusticators enjoyed it - in the peace and quiet of Seal Harbor. Acadia is literally across the street and carriage road entry is a short walk down the road, with easy access to Cadillac, Pemetic, Penobscot, Sargent, and Day mountains and all of the area surrounding Jordan Pond. No need to get in the car to enjoy the Park! Seal Harbor Beach and the lovely Great Harbor area are a short walk down the hill.
