About this property
Menehune Shores "Eagle Nest" Oceanfront Penthouse
UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AND EXTENSIVELY REMODELED. Menehune Shores 627 - oceanfront penthouse with breathtaking ocean views from both the living room and master bedroom. One of only two unique penthouses at the end of the building, it has 2 feet higher ceilings and 4 extra windows. You can see Haleakala from both bedrooms and both showers. Nobody walks past our door and the second bedroom window! Split AC system with an AC in every room.
AUGUST 30, 2023 UPDATE Maui South Shore, where our condo is located wasn't affected by the recent fires. All services in the condo are working, the beaches, restaurants and stores are open. Don't plan to go to the West Shore, but the whole South Shore is open as well as north and east Maui. The week of September 15-22 is deeply discounted, because our pool will be on maintemance Sep 15-18. Our beach is like a shallow pool, protected from waves and with resident turtles.
OUR CONDO – INSPIRATION We fell in love with this condo at the first sight. It’s a corner penthouse with Haleakala on one side looking into its 4 extra windows. Being this high with 270 degree views, we called this condo “Eagle Nest”, because it just felt this way to us. The corner of the railings outside of the front door reminds us of the famous movie scene with Jack and Rose on the bow of Titanic. But please don’t try to reenact that scene!
If you are curious to learn about Menehune, find “menehune hawaiian leprechauns” to read a fun and well-illustrated article.
OUR CONDO – DETAILS This condo is located on the sixth floor of the South side of the building, it’s the corner unit and is the closest to the road. It looks towards the open ocean, the island of Kahoolawe and Molokini crater. It’s in the quieter wing, away from the pool and restaurant. The condo has high ceilings, lots of light and air.
The two bedrooms – Master and Guest - are symmetrically situated. Each has its small entry alcove with doors to the bedroom and the bathroom. Both bedroom closets have custom shelving system and mirrored doors.
Master bedroom has a Cal King bed – a firm Serta mattress with memory foam top. Master bathroom has a shower over a bathtub.
Guest bedroom has two extra-long Twin beds with Nectar mattresses. By default, the two beds are made separately, but they can be connected into one King bed. If you want to have one King bed during your stay in the guest bedroom, let us know after you book, and the housekeeping will prepare it for you: the two beds will be connected by a special bridge so there is no gap, and you would still have two separate twin duvets on the bed. Guest bathroom has a shower with a low curb, no bathtub.
In the living room, we have a new Queen sofa sleeper with a foam mattress. Clean bedding and linens for it will be prepared in the linen closet near Master bedroom – mattress protector, duvet, sheets (fitted and flat), 4 pillows. You will need to make the bed yourself. Always put everything back to the linen closet when you close the sofa bed – the sheets left inside the mattress can break the mechanism.

Property was very clean and well stocked. The listing says 3 bedroom, but it is not. It does state down in the description but picture shows 3 bedroom. Some highway noise, which did not bother us at all, no noise at all from other guests.

I can't find and pictures that show the 3rd bedroom. The condo only has two. This is the first time ever that someone got confused. The noise is not from the highway, but from South Kihei Road.
19 family members rented at Meneheune Shores. The “eagles nest” was the unit my group used. It’s stocked with everything you need for a fun week. We did not have the house keeper come but in hindsight wish we would have. Having their contact info in the literature would be helpful. Check the spice cabinet above the kitchen sink before shopping. There are now 4 bottles of syrup. The boogie boards are not in great shape so we rented some from a shop down the road. The wagon was very useful.

We do provide the phone number for our housekeeper in the condo information as well as our phone mumber and we encourage our guests to contact us with any issues right away. We could have easily replaced the boogie boards. Timely communication is always appreciated!
About the host
Hosted by Igor & Elena Kounitski
My husband and I owned and rented condos in Maui since 2002. In 2021, we sold out two condos in Kamaole Sands and bought two condos - a two-bedroom in Menehune Sgores (this listing) and a large and private one-bedroom in The Palms at Wailea. We stay in our condos for 2-3 months each year and keep them fresh and updated. We also love to rent direct.
Why they chose this property
It's simply unique. It's one of only two penthouses at the end of the building. Another penthouse like this lookes towards Maalaea harbor, while ours looks toward the open ocean, Wailea and Molokini crater. We believe our view is better, plus our lanai is much better protected from trade winds than the other side of the building.
What makes this property unique
It’s a corner penthouse with Haleakala on one side looking into its 4 extra windows. Being this high with 270 degree views, we called this condo “Eagle Nest”, because it just felt this way to us. The corner of the railings outside of the front door reminds us of the famous movie scene with Jack and Rose on the bow of Titanic. But please don’t try to reenact that scene!
