This house was perfect for what we wanted to do. We wanted to stay on a lake, while being close enough to Atlanta so we could spend a couple of days in the city. Btw-the aquarium is amazing. The cove was perfect for kayaking and fishing without having to cross paths with some of the bigger boats and the jet skis in the larger part of the lake. The house had everything we needed to make meals at the house. The covered part of the porch was a great place to read or eat outside without getting too much sun. We grilled some nights and sat out by the fire pit most nights while my son fished from the dock after being in the kayak all day fishing. The host was very quick to respond to all of my questions.
I was a little worried about the size - 1200 sq ft - for 6 people, but it was really open and provided plenty space. The house was located convenient to get to grocery store and restaurants; but we cooked in and used the grill for the most part. The dock was great for our rental boat and the lake is wonderful. It is furnished as a rental - everything is very basic / low-end. The bedding was sparse - if you like thicker blankets or quality sheets, you'll want to bring. And there are no extras. One blanket per bed. The outside really needs some upkeep - the bushes are overgrown and block the steps to the house; the house is covered with mildew and needs a good pressure wash. Some minor upkeep and upgrades and this place would be amazing.
Overall 5 stars! Host was responsive to our questions and was very easy to work with. The interior of the home was spotless. Best way to wrap up the review is to say that we are looking forward to returning again next fall!
Very nice visit. Interior very clean. Excellent layout with master bedroom downstairs. Need to correct shower door in master, stabilize bannister, pressure wash exterior.

Liked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
The host was kind and communicated well. The marina is extremely close—you can see it from the deck—which was very convenient. We also enjoyed the kayaks, and the master bed was comfortable. However, the property needs cleaning and maintenance. The exterior had a lot of algae, mold, or both on the siding and deck, making the deck slippery. Some of the railing also appeared rotten. Inside, the vaulted ceiling was noticeably dusty, and much of the furniture was worn. The nearest grocery store is more than 20 minutes away, which would have been helpful to know beforehand. Most importantly, I wish the host had provided boating safety information for Lake Oconee. We were visiting from out of town and did not know the lake contains extensive areas of submerged timber. We only learned this after seeing a sign at the marina and asking people at the boat slip. We were told to stay far from the buoys, but unfortunately stayed far away on the wrong side and hit an underwater tree, causing major damage to our boat. There is an online map showing hazardous areas, but it takes some effort to find. For a rental with a dock, a link to that map and clear warnings should be included in the check-in information.Guests are also asked not to flush toilet paper, which we found awkward and unpleasant. Overall, the location and lake access were great, but the property needs maintenance and clearer information for guests bringing boats.
The house was perfect! We were a group of girls needing a lake weekend. We had everything we needed. The host was very communicative and helpful when we needed it. Would recommend!
Nice property. My gps didn’t take me to the right house but my husbands did. House was clean, well stocked, quiet and amazing access to the lake. We enjoyed the dock and fire pit as well. Grass was super long but they sent landscaping on our last day. Great neighbors as well.
Overall a very nice house. Be careful around the dock as I fell in a hole but the kayaks are a nice touch and we went out several times! House has everything you need - be aware depending on carrier cell phone coverage is spotty.
Lay out on the dock and take in the stars on a clear night- the heavens open up. I haven't seen the night sky so large with the stars shiny in such vibrancy in a long while- very refreshing. The house was very comfortable and the oversized master bed even more so.

With very low light and noise pollution, a place where you can find solace with Mother Nature. The picturesque fall foliage in this part of lake is a local’s favorite. Visit us again.
We wanted a comfortable place to stay in the Madison area for a family wedding. It was 1,000% better than staying in a hotel and made traveling with three littles enjoyable. Love the free Netflix access, easy wifi password, and many other touches that make it easy and pleasant to stay.
Life vests are hiding under the bar if you're wondering :)
Next time we visit family in the area, I can't see why we would risk staying anywhere else
We had our staff gathering for our small business (3-4 employees only) in this property for the weekend. It was the perfect place! We gathered around the fire pit to share stories at night and grilled bbq during the day. Access to the lake came in handy. We rented out a pontoon. This property is very clean. All necessities were provided. It was also very close to grocery stores and shops. Host responded within a few minutes and even checked in on us by text when we arrived. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property for families and friends.
This home was fine. The following comments relate to the Oconee properties in general.Due to the size of this lake, and the long side roads, don't count on your rental, anywhere on Oconee, to be at all convenient or easy to reach from a good road, or near any conveniences. It can be a real issue if your flight or other travel arrangements mean that you could be looking for street signs, addresses and door locks for a long, frustrating time, especially if a particular house does not have good outside lighting. So have a flashlight handy. Once you are inside, you will breathe a big sigh of relief.
