About this property

JUST 30 STEPS TO THE OCEAN FRONT


The former home of a writer and educator, this 1920's historic bungalow has been completely restored to provide a very comfortable stay at America's finest beach. Just steps from the boardwalk and beach (three houses from the boardwalk) and near Belmont Park and the Roller Coaster, the house comes equipped with all you will need for the perfect vacation. Kayak, beach chairs, sand toys, garage parking and an extra outdoor shower.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and flat screen TV. The second bedroom has bunk beds with a single and double. The comfortable futon in the living room makes into a double, where there is another flat screen TV. We also have a Pack N Play for your toddler.

The shelves are lined with over 300 quality books of all varieties. I keep the prices very affordable compared to any other stand alone house in Mission Beach, so it books out very well. Many people really like this historic-style cottage feel rather than 'all-the-same' condos that line much of the beach, and for good reason. The hard-wood floors and Dutch-door in the front provide a nostalgic step back in time, while enjoying the upgrades to the cottage over the years.

When our kids are grown we're moving back in!! So come enjoy the Mission Beach Cottage while you can. :)

World famous Sea World is five minutes away and the San Diego Zoo is ten minutes. World class dining can be enjoyed in downtown's Gaslamp Quarter, a ten minute drive. Mission Beach offers nightly sunsets, biking, sailing, rollerblading, surfing, boating, a roller coaster and the country's most entertaining people-watching.

We enjoyed our stay in Mission Beach. The house was the perfect location, and had everything we needed. The host was awesome, and the description was accurate.The house os old and charming but with that, felt dirty and needed a little more tlc if renting. I would have loved updated bedding, towels, and kitchen ware.charming

Wonderful Stay

The location was fantastic—couldn't have asked for a better spot for the price! The owner was incredibly responsive, even through VRBO messaging, which made the entire experience seamless. The cottage itself was a real gem. Growing up in Michigan, it reminded me of the older homes there, bringing back great memories. I would definitely stay here again. Me and 4 kids. Enough room and close to Belmont, has a washer and dryer so no trips to the laundromat, and 2 parking spaces. Whenever I had a question, Dave was quick to answer, great host.

Not what I expected

Very outdated and unkept. No entrance through the front door. Ants were abundant in the living area. All of the fans were filthy and or rusty. Location was nice..but otherwise would not recommend

Awesome location

This house is all about location! Steps to the beach and a short walk to Belmont park. The perfect place to stay with kids. Love that they had lots of boogie boards and beach chairs to use. My daughters had a blast. Also, it has a garage which is a bonus! My family loved staying here.

Perfect Beach Getaway in Mission Beach!

I recently stayed at a Vrbo property in Mission Beach and had an amazing experience! The location was perfect, just steps away from the beach, which made it incredibly convenient for daily beach outings. The property itself was cute and exactly as described in the listing. Great price for the location!

The beach is a minute or less walk, the store is just a few miles, bike and board rentals are walking distance. Good food and shopping nearby! Quick drive to little Italy.

Great location!!

This house was in a great spot..very close to the beach and Belmont park ..house is cute and pretty well stocked ..only has charcoal grill though and unfortunately all the beds are not comfortable at all!..would love to go again every year if beds improve :)

Love the Blue House!

If your all about location location location, then this is the place for you! Cute little cottage in great location!! You are so close to the beach which is great when taking sand toys and things to the beach. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. My family loved our stay.....would definitely recommend. Favorite Place in Mission

We’d been able to stay at The Blue House a few times now. It is my family’s favorite place to vacation. Such a cute cottage and the location is perfect. We hope to be able to vacation there for a long time. David is wonderful to work with. See ya next year!

I first moved to San Diego to go to San Diego State University and landed in Mission Beach, thinking 'why would I ever want to leave here'. My wife and I lived in the house for many years and we will always keep it as it is instead of building condos on the property. We will return to the house at some point, but for now we enjoy having others enjoy the beach life.

Why they chose this property

One thing that attracted me to buy this house is its location so close to the beach and boardwalk. And it is a single family home with no attached homes, on its own lot. We also loved the historic value in an era when so many others are building new condos.

What makes this property unique

Having a single-family house on its own lot is a huge benefit. There are no common walls and you aren't sharing the yard with anyone. The proximity to the boardwalk and sand is a big plus, too, for a fraction of the price of the oceanfront properties which have very little privacy.
