Walk to Durango's downtown along the River Walk or hike Animas Mountain
Monthly (or longer) and Vacation (not commercial) Rentals Only: This Tierra Group LLC home was completed in the summer of 2007 in the Tierra Artisan Court Community and it's been our vacation home ever since. Modern design with an open floor plan and access to a shaded patio off the kitchen/dining room.
You will enjoy walking and biking right from the house to Durango's restaurants, public library, and Rec Center. Take the bike path along the Animas river to downtown Durango or the trolley. (We like to walk to dinner and take the trolley back.) The Durango Rec Center is a 10 minute walk, and Animas Mountain Park, with hiking to 8,000' and views up the Animas Valley to Engineer Peak, a few hundred yards from the house.
The ground floor has an floor plan with hardwood floors and includes a kitchen with granite countertops and a center island, a dining room which seats 6 comfortably, and a living room. Enjoy your family vacation as we do sitting around the gas fireplace in the living room with a sofa, loveseat, and recliner and a large flat screen TV. The living room includes a built-in desk so you can check in with work without ever leaving the living room. Also on the first floor is a conveniently located 1/2 bath, just off the kitchen and access to the 1 car garage.
You can easily access the back yard and patio with propane grill and outdoor dining furniture from the kitchen. This is a great place for your morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day !
The second floor features 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, and washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a king size bed and private bathroom as well as a walk-in closet. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms share a full bathroom located between them. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds and while the 3rd has a queen bed, desk, and office chair. Both also offer nicely sized closets.
The yard is big enough to enjoy the green and fun with the kids but safely fenced on 3 sides - the only access to the street is the cul de sac at the front of the house.
The location is ideal, on a quiet cul de sac far enough from Durango's lively downtown for quiet evenings on the patio and cool summer breezes with the bedroom windows left open, yet only a short walk from Durango's Recreation Center and River Walk. Durango's trolley can zip you to Durango's downtown with shopping and restaurants or you can bike, walk, or enjoy a short drive. You can run, hike, or mountain bike right from the house up Animas Mountain. Climb to a beautiful view looking north up the Animas River valley or head out to Dalla Mountain Park or the Colorado Trail - 2 miles or so from the house - for mountain biking or hiking.
Please know that we're the real deal - this is our family's vacation home and we're looking to rent it to others visiting or vacationing (or combing vacation with telework) who share our appreciation for Durango and Southwest Colorado. Our purpose in renting is to offset the costs of owning a vacation home, not to supplement our income with rental property. I will do my best to respond to your needs - see our reviews for the experiences of some of our renters.
If you would like to be able to call someone local should you have questions or needs, or just want to transact your rental of our home through a commercial enterprise, we can run your rental through our property manager at an increased monthly rate (30%) to cover those costs.
(Please note: This is why we do not do commercial rentals - to people needing a place to stay in Durango while conducting work for business - we're simply not set-up to provide the responsiveness those working in and around Durango expect and deserve.)
Given the pandemic and post-pandemic era of Durango's hyper-competitive vacation rental market, we re-evaluate our rates each August for the following summer/high-season. It's our intent to rent the house via month/month+ rentals through the high season (June-October) so we can afford to enjoy the house the rest of the year and thus endeavor to offer our monthly rental at market competitive rates. If you have thoughts or information on how to improve our efforts, please send them along :)
Lastly, in this era of "internet of things," and concerns about privacy, please know that we have but two things continuously connected the the internet - an Ecobee Lite 3 thermostat and the Roku stick in the TV that you can use to access your Netflix account - no Ring video doorbells, no remote garage door monitors or openers for delivery of Amazon packages, or anything else.

This is a beautiful home in a perfect location. The home is extremely well cared for, the host is wonderful to work with, the kitchen is well stocked, and there is a cozy fireplace and lots of games and puzzles to enjoy in front of it.
I stayed here for a month and worked remotely with two friends. The house is beautiful, neighborhood is charming, is a quick 5 min drive to downtown and overall was a great stay. Grant was very communicative and helpful. Would stay here again easily.

We loved having a central location to explore southwestern Colorado. The house was as advertised. Everything we needed to feel comfortable. We will definitely plan on returning to Durango in the future.

Susie was a wonderful renter and we'd happily rent to her again !
Grant's house was perfect for our extended stay in Durango! It was very clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable! We would definitely stay there again if we needed a place to temporarily live in Durango. Communication with Grant was also very easy and he provided clear instructions for our usage of his home.

Thank-you for your stay in our home and your review. I appreciated the extra effort you made to check in as you discovered things about the house that an owner would want to know. Renters like you make it easier to keep the house in top shape from one rental to the next. Let me know when you're ready to return !

Excellent summer stay!
We spent a fantastic month in Durango in 2011 and are headed back for 2012. The house is new, extremely clean, comfortable, and well located. You will be staying in a residential area, a short drive to all that Durango has to offer - restaurants, brew houses, fishing, hiking, the rec center, grocery stores, etc. That means the area is quiet, safe, and accessible. The photos, while good, can't show you how comfortable and open the house is.
We stayed here for one month in June. The house had everything we needed. We had been in contact with the owner prior to our arrival. They answered all our questions ahead of time. Neighbors were friendly.
The location suited us perfectly. Close to a lot of things that appealed to us. Hiking trails, tennis courts at the high school, the Recreation center, a golf course, local restaurants, a small farmers market and supermarket. The historic area just a few miles south.

Durango Comfort
Having only seen the inside from photos on the website, we thought this home looked like our kind of place....and it was, and even more. The interior finishes are very nice, and we were very comfortable during our months stay. But as an added bonus, this rental comes complete with the most wonderful friendly neighbors, and the peace and quiet only a small cul-de-sac can provide. We give this home a Two Thumbs Up rating!
There are many options to stay in Durango, however, none like this property. From the homeowner to the home to the location to the neighbors the entire experience was perfect. Grant, was incredible with communication, answering my questions, and is a remarkably thoughtful person.
My husband and I live locally and were having our house remodeled. We had to completely move out of our home during this process and put everything in storage. The stress was high and the logistics many. I point this out because upon arrival at their home I felt like I could take a deep breath and relax. It was perfect from the supplies to the bed to the location.
Thank you for offering a jewel in the heart of Durango! We will certainly rent this for family when they come to town!

A PERFECT summer in Durango
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this home just north of downtown Durango. Our stay was for two months and we loved it. The house was perfect and had nice finish throughout with granite counters, hardwood floors, comfortable beds and everything you would need for a month long stay. I appreciated that the owners did not 'over accessorize' with a lot of decor. It was really nice, clean and simply decorated. NOT fussy! The kitchen was great, w/ a LARGE island that you could either work from or pull up a stool to sit and eat dinner. Spacious bedrooms all upstairs. There is not an air conditioner and I was a bit apprehensive about that, but the window fans were adequate for the evenings in drawing in the cool air.
Outside we used the grill and a picnic table in the private backyard space.
The home is situated nicely as far as proximity to town (about 2 miles), to the rodeo grounds, library, rec center, River Walk (about .5 to 1 mile). We hiked every day/evening to trails that were within a few miles to a short 15 minute drive away. You will also be within a short drive to Mesa Verde, Silverton, Telluride and Pagosa Springs.
I think that this house is the BEST deal you will find also for a month stay.
The owner was easily contacted via email. We really did not have any issues, so did not need to call him for any reason. If you are considering Durango for a month vacation, I can't think of a better spot!

About the host
Hosted by Walk the River Walk to Downtown
We enjoy pretty much any and all outdoor activities: hiking, camping and backpacking, biking, skiing (XC and downhill), and canoeing and swimming. We live near Albuquerque, NM.
Why they chose this property
Like many, we were attracted to Durango summers with the many outdoor opportunities and events for families and active/outdoor people. We love spending our vacations in a small Colorado mountain town where you can bike to great restaurants, hike or run on cool mountain trails, or ride the Durango-Silverton train.
What makes this property unique
The house is on quiet, conveniently located cul de sac, and cooled by summer breezes descending from the La Plata mountains. The location near the North end of Durango which means very easy access to the Colorado Trail and the Animas Valley - including Durango Mountain Resort (downhill skiing) and the beautiful San Juan Mountains beyond. We particularly enjoy our proximity to Animas Mountain Park with it's trails to 8500' and fabulous views while still being able to walk to the Recreation Center or the River Walk.
