This was such a cute place. It was the perfect place to stay during the last leg of our move! The water pressure in the shower was amazing and the room was very cutely decorated. I would definitely stay here again when I need to go to Madison next.
It was a pleasant and peaceful setting in the country. We enjoyed the coffee station and were able to find a fabulous restaurant for dinner. Parking was right in front of our rental.
Could have been better. Room had cobwebs everywhere. Pool was green, and surrounding area was not well kept. Nice quiet area.

Bryan, Thank you for your stay and your review. I'm sorry you found cobwebs in the room. We strive to keep it very clean and will make sure to check for these. We don't offer the pool as an amenity to our guests. I am sorry the stay wasn't 5-stars for you. We do our best and are remiss when we don't get it exactly right. Best to you. ~Marca, host
- advertised with amenities that were missing/not included as advertised: hot tea not supplied, “cooking ware” a single 8” frying pan… no mention of where to find these items, only after turning the entire place upside down looking for amenities that were supposedly provided, still no hot tea. and a single frying pan is not “cooking ware” - nothing more than dining utensils, no actual prep gear- advertised as “entirely private” and “peaceful”, and dogs mentioned are “friendly and curious” - but upon arriving was greeted with a chorus of unruly dogs snapping and barking from within the main house, as well as several people peeking through the windows watching us unload the car, made us very uncomfortable immediately - a small unsupervised child is in the room adjacent to us ???????? - not disclosed that “private entryway” is shared with a minor - minimal parking available, 6 or 7 cars parked outside in the driveway with very little wiggle room, save for the “guest parking” that is nearly imperceivable and easily missed, not easily identifiable - no smoke alarm in room. - unwelcome energy around checkout time, homeowner is rigid with monitoring your departure and again avoided any pleasantries or exiting questions that may have made us feel more attended to/considered

Jonathan, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear of your experience and would like to respond to your remarks. First off, so sorry we hadn’t restocked the tea. We would have provided it in a heartbeat had you reached out. As for the cookware, can you tell us what you were missing as far as “prep gear”? We take every opportunity to improve our amenities for our future guests. We will make signage to indicate where things are stored. That’s a great idea. Our dogs are sometimes reactive to our guest dogs. I’m sorry that created an unwelcome experience for you. We are looking into replacing the existing door that separates our main house from the guest suite with an exterior door to allow for better noise reduction and privacy. I’m not sure who was peeking through the windows when you arrived but we do our best to give our guests a feeling of privacy and have put up privacy screen on our windows that face the guest parking to make them more comfortable. Our toddler does play in the room adjacent to the guest suite. We try and consider the hours when she is there so as not to potentially wake anyone or keep anyone up. Our guests' parking space is always left open for our guests. We have it explicitly marked guest parking so I’m not sure where the confusion arose there. We apologize nonetheless for any difficulty. We do have a smoke detector in the bathroom of the suite as well as a separate carbon monoxide detector. We also have a fire extinguisher and first aid supplies available in the room as a courtesy to our guests. I spoke with our cleaner - who is my daughter - regarding the “rigid monitoring of departure” and she said you didn’t check out until after 11am which is the checkout deadline. She is on a very tight schedule with work and school and patiently waits to clean the room. She was simply checking to see if you had vacated since it was past 11. It’s a fine line to walk to give guests space/make them feel attended to/allow dogs when they may upset ours/provide cooking supplies to risk it not being enough.
The room was very clean. Exactly as listed, and perfect for our short stay visiting family. Room was very comfortable, and well stocked with all the essentials. We appreciated easy communication with the host, Marca. She also provided a pack & play and bag of toys for our 17 month old, which he loved. Would definitely recommend & stay again!
Lovely relaxing place to stay outside the bustle of Madison. We appreciated having real cups and glasses available as well as bottled water and a few snacks too. The screened in gazebo is a treasure. It was great to be able to park right outside our door too.

This property was perfect for our little getaway to check out UW-Madison and the surrounding areas for just a couple days. The place had so many extra amenities that were available, and Marca was welcoming and kind if we needed anything. Perfect for a couple’s trip!
Great property outside of Madison in a secluded area. Everything was as described, we felt comfortable and had a great time. I would definitely go back!
We had a great time. The room is small but it was clean and had everything we needed. The owners are very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed the pool very much and the property is beautiful. We will be coming back next year.

About the host
Hosted by Marca
We have been hosting guests for 6-years. Our studio is attached to our house w/ a private entrance. We have three daughters and two dogs. We also have an apartment attached to our home w/ a full time tenant and her daughter. I grew up in the home since the 80's and know a lot about the area and all it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Hilltop sunrises and sunsets are a joy to witness! The serene area we reside in is tucked between Madison, Middleton, Verona and Mount Horeb- convenient to everything but far enough removed for peace of mind. Vistas of pines, oak savannah, big skies, neighboring alpacas, and rolling hillsides are good for the soul!
What makes this property unique
The home was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was constructed in the 80's. My parents added on the studio and apartment. The area is in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin known for its signature rolling hillsides w/ peaks and valleys. The Sugar River runs through the lower section of our 8-acres. About halfway down the hill sits an Amish built cabin constructed in the 2000's as a writer's shed. We have a large screened in gazebo around the back of the home that we welcome our guests to enjoy.
