About this property
Smokey Mountain couple's retreat
Our place is nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains on top of a mountain in a small gated community. A perfect place for lover's to get a way and forget life for awhile. The chalet is above a oversized detached garage. 1200 square ft. It has a spacious living room with a 3D TV and a nice size kitchen with custom cabinets and granite counter tops. If you like to cook like we do, there's pretty much everything you need.
The house features a master bedroom with queen sized bed. The living room has a couch with a pull out sofa sleeper. The house is totally updated with granite counter tops, high end appliances and hard wood floors.
From the rear deck, it has a spectacular 165° view East to West. Seeing over 3 states (GA, NC, TN) is just the beginning. Sunrises and sunsets are totally amazing. Inside is a bit rustic yet has elegant touches. It's not heaven, but you can see it from here.
Downtown Murphy is 12 minutes away. Harrah's Cherokee Valley casino and John C Campbell folk school is about 15 or so minutes. If you're into the outdoors look no further. There's plenty of hiking/biking trails to choose from. Fly fishing, is also a favorite amongst locals here. If you're water people, there are lakes and boat rentals available spring through fall months. Tubing is very popular at the Nantahala gorge. If you're into adventure this is a must do.

Stayed 2 nights in May 2026. Everything was super clean and the view from the deck was amazing since it was at the top of the ridge. The bed was comfortable. Easy check in and check out. We'd come back!

Thanks Pete for the great rating. We're glad you had a great stay.
The place was very tastefully and completely furnished. I suspect that Pat might have had a lot to do with that :) The drive to the property involved a lot of switchbacks but that is part of being on a mountain top in the applications. We were returning North from FL and that will be an annual stop. Love the area and the mountains. Gary was there to greet us and to say goodbye other wise we were on our own. Perfect place!

Wow! Great place where you will be treated to the most beautiful view of the mountains around Murphy! The cabin is spotless, organized, labeled, with attention to every detail imaginable! It’s an adventure going up the mountain! Absolutely perfect place to stay! Thanks.
The home was very comfortable to stay in .The views from the deck were unbeliveable. The home was actually perfect. It had everything I needed. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
What a beautiful piece of property! We spent 2 nights here for a friend's birthday/girls get away weekend and it was PERFECT. The views are breathtaking and it could not have been more perfect. Gary and Pat were very accommodating and responded to anything we needed right away.
This place was fantastic! Cleanliness was superb, as was the setting with beautiful mountain views. Gary was attentive and willing to help with any situation, though we really didn’t need him for anything because the place was so well organized. Everything was thoughtfully placed and the bed was super comfortable. The kitchen was up to date and had everything we needed to cook. The bathroom was spotless. Loved our stay! Hopefully will be back some day!
Communication with property manager was great. The home was beautiful way beyond expectation. The view was so beautiful loved watching the sunrise and sunset.

Thank you Melissa for the kind review. We're happy that you and your husband enjoyed your stay and a pleasure having you as our guest.
I am semi retired. Born/raised in Florida. Worked for the local newspaper for 33 years. I am now a volunteer fire fighter for our community. My wife is in medical billing and works from home. On our off time we hike, bike and boat. We also love to cook and do a lot of get togethers with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
During my childhood, my grandparents owned a vacation cabin deep in the woods of Franklin NC. We (me, my parents and my brothers) would travel to vacation for 2 weeks a year. There we would hike, snow ski and just explore the great outdoors that we didn't get in the big city.
What makes this property unique
This place is unique in the sense of its extreme views. Rural yet close to many parks, lakes, bars and restaurants. And being on top of a mountain has its advantages and disadvantages. With extreme views comes with extreme weather. Any time of the year is absolutely beautiful. Yet, when it rains it pours. The drive up to the chalet for some people, can be a li'l scary. Especially for those who are used to flat, straight roads. Keep in mind the roads are well paved and safe. Once you are here you'll soon forget about the drive up.
