For being such a nice home, it was pretty dirty. Furniture and bedding was worn out and old. Host was helpful and answered questions quickly.

nothing worked, everything was broken, beds, chairs, tv's, nice house but the furniture is its after life. The range has no vents so steaks, burguers, prepare to open all windows as it smokes the entire place.
The house was awesome! So beautiful and plenty of space for a big group. We were a little worried because of the recent reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised when we got there! The house was clean, and the toilet paper was even stamped! We did have to wipe the counters and sweep a little in the kitchen but other than that it was very clean. The host was very responsive, I was never waiting for an answer from them during our stay. It's also a short drive to town and the mountains for snow play. We'd absolutely stay here again!! Don't let the bad reviews deter you!
Great experience! We found the perfect property for future stays in Big Bear.
Stayed for a few days beginning of 2023 for skiing holiday with my big family. House had loads of space to spread out in the house. Great amenities in the house - heating was super efficient (Its winter!). Everything in working condition, no problems with any electrical appliances. Pool table kept us entertained. Fireplace kept the house cozy.
The house was very convenient for skiing areas as well as Big Bear play for the little ones. loved the views, Loved the house. Felt / looked after in all respects. We highly recommend this lovely home.
There were a few things that needed attention!
The dryer did not work properly! The family room bathroom flooded the seal underneath the toilet leaked had to shut valve off to stop leaking! Could not use bathroom afterwards! The dump site for garbage was closed Thanksgiving weekend! Had to use an another dump site further away. The heater worked, but would heat some rooms too hot and others not enough! The shopping stores were great all the mom and pop stores were excellent!
Overall our stay was great will do it again next year, but stay by big bear lake!

In need of some serious TLC
This is a beautiful home that needs a lot of love on top of not being very clean at all there was mold in the bathrooms. The floors encounters were filthy. I was told there was a propane barbecue there so we bought all kinds of stuff to barbecue. The barbecue is horrible. You can’t even get it to light. Half of the TVs don’t work. There was no dish soap to even wash dishes or dish towels. I’ll have to say I was very disappointed with this stay for what they charge you to stay there and the cleaning fee at least the place could be clean when you get there.

Very Disappointed
While this house is in a great neighborhood, it is in DESPERATE need of maintenance and deep cleaning. The house is very dirty and unkempt. There were mouse droppings on the counters. In the kitchen, there are no dish towels,1 trash bag, 1 dishwasher cube and 1/2 roll of paper towels. Never stayed at a VRBO home where these items weren't provided. Don't plan on having a big family dinner unless you bring your own glasses. There were 2 wine glasses, 2 rocks glasses, 1 martini glass and 2 water glasses. Out of 5 bedrooms, 3 of the rooms bedding had not been changed. First night we were washing sheets etc. While the washer worked ok, the dryer vent hose was not connected and inside the actual vent there was so much lint nothing would dry, and the house filled up with steam. Not to mention that it is a fire hazard. The add is misleading in the statement that it has a "Hot Tub" It doesn't. There is a jacuzzi tub in one bathroom. One of the downstairs showers was clogged and the property manager told us that he couldn't get a plumber out until after our stay ended. One bedroom upstairs had sharpie writing on the wall and the bathroom across from that bedroom had toothpaste smeared on the vanity cabinets. were many light bulbs out and nothing to replace them with. We had counted on using the BBQ but it was filthy and broken down. No need to clean it, they need to replace it! Every closet filled with old broken games ETC. Never found more than 6 bath towels. Renter Beware.

Big house but filthy
Pros:The place was ring and spacious. It could have easily fit 14 people comfortably.
Cons: when we got to the house, we had no way of entering because whole staircase were COMPLETELY covered in thick inches of ice. It was so dangerous. We were slipping and sliding and holding on to dear life trying to bring our young boys inside the house. We informed the property manager how dangerous the stairs were. We asked if they could have someone clear it out tomorrow morning since we had more families with young babies who were coming the next day. Well, no one cleared it out. Instead, the housekeeper left salt in front of our door so we had to clear it out ourselves.
We opened the coffee maker and there was left over grinds and mold. I felt so disgusted. It was obvious that the cleaners haven’t cleaned the coffee maker in months.
The dishwasher when we got there was disgustingly filthy and had black stuff inside.
The fridge was completely shut off. We had to call the property manager because and he told us that they turn off the fridge to save energy.
There were missing knobs in the kitchen, sticky and filthy cabinet drawers. Really dirty plates and utensils.
The bedding were very outdated. It felt cheap, very scratchy and uncomfortable to sleep in.
This place has so much potential but it is very obvious that they need to hire a new cleaning crew + a maintenance crew.

More like "Beverly Hills Adjacent"
Let me start with the positives, very nice home from the outside and location is perfect for families with kids that just want to hang our and sled outside. Stepping inside you still think you scored a nice rental property, until you realize: half the lights don't work, couches, which double as pull out beds are completely broken and when you sit it feels like you are sinking to the floor, extremely uncomfortable. Moving on to the kitchen, dishwasher never worked, and all the pots, pans, and cooking utensils were insufficient. Heater never worked properly and would always jump up to 82 regardless of desired temperature.
As the person responsible for the rental, I was embarrassed since 3 other families were staying with us and for what we paid per night, I would have expected MUCH more. I was in communication with the property manager throughout and requested a discount for our inconveniences. Here is the response via email. " The problems that you are mentioning are not verifiable and we have been more than faithful in believing that your party is not responsible for any of the said issues. It appears that we need to have a person from our staff to come verify as none of these problems existed before your stay. If you are expecting any discount, you and your party should vacate the property immediately. As our Rental Agreement states, we do not take responsibility for any amenities that are broken or in non-working order and do not refund money for this purpose. We handle broken or non-working amenities or uncleanliness by sending our cleaners to solve the issues. We do not solve issues by giving out refunds. You stated that you do not want the cleaners, so we are lead to believe that your issues are minimalist and your intent is only to get a discount.
Please let us know."
Not the response you want to hear when traveling with 4 families, 16 people on New Year's eve.
To the owners of the property, you have nice home that needs a significant upgrade to the furniture, kitchenware, and amenities. You should also work with a management company that doesn't have a take it or leave it attitude. We were only there 3 nights so you cant "Solve" broken coaches, dishwasher, furniture, etc. without a significant disruption to our stay. Thank you.

Response from VrboOwner on 21 March 2020
It is unfortunate that the guest did not have a pleasant experience. Although, as even the guest quoted us saying, the renter did not want or desire for our staff to go to the property and verify all that he said was wrong with the estate. He did not allow us access to the home, therefore making his claims sound fishy and unreliable. He demanded a discount/refund immediately without stating much of any issues. We do not understand how pots, pans, and utensils can be labeled "insufficient". After we told him this, he started fabricating a list of grievances (upon inspection, sofa beds were intact, lights were working, thermostat working properly etc) . We tried to accommodate him as much as we can but he was not willing to accept anything but money back.
After his check out, a member of his party left something behind. We went above and beyond to make sure that they receive it back that day, even though it was a holiday. He was still unsatisfied and we feel that nothing could have made this guest have a pleasant experience.
Everything was amazing, I only had 1 issue and that was the refrigerator was not getting cold, other than that me and my family really love the cabin home and would definitely love to rent again.
Had a blast but only few things I didn’t like . Refrigerator wasn’t working and we told property manager and he suppose to send someone but never showed up. I need to buy coolers with ice to put my frozen food in and refrigerator food. Didn’t have a broom to clean and had to buy one. Wifi went on and off couldn’t use the tv . It’s a nice house but needs improvements .

Good but not so good
The property was huge and grand, perfect for our group of 5 families. The kids loved the place and so we did enjoy. However there were a couple of not so good things.
1. We stayed for the long weekend recently. When we checked in there was a notice at the door that the owner missed water payment and so got disconnected. We didnt have water for a great 4 hrs. The owner got to the property to fix the issue and luckily by almost midnight water was back. He gave us a crate of sparkling water to as an apology for the inconvenience. But upon checking the cans were expired. 😩 good thing no one drank it.
2. Internet was very bad. Like we didnt connect bec it was very lowtech and slow.
3. Coffeemaker, there was a load of groundcoffee in the pot that was full of molds! It was bad. :( we threw it out and just cleaned everything with vinegar and hot water.
4. Blender, the spout was not cleaned well that when we opened it there were a lot of green leafy stuff in it. :( good thing no one suffered diarrhea after that.
Other than that, our experience there was good. It was the only placed who accepted a big group around the area. The rooms were spacious and had enough linen and pillows and towels for everyone. We cleaned everything before we left so I bet the cleaning person wont have to clean as much.
Thank you! Hope this is helpful.

Huge house
The house it’s big and with a lot of space huge kitchen we were 24 people perfect for big groups.
The bad: slow internet, the bbq it’s old with missing knobs and it was dirty, some of the furniture had dust and some broke/loose, the pool table had the sticks broken I couldn’t play I had to go to big5 and buy some sticks to be able to play, foosball table had some handles and some players broken, the blender in the kitchen wasn’t working not enough trash bags, not enough toilet paper, mattress in master bedroom was deep, big jacuzzi in the upstairs bedroom doesn’t work, some tvs didn’t work.
Very spacious, my family and I loved it. Not good wifi service, bit dirty (dusty)

Weekend getaway
Plenty of room, big kitchen, nice tv room. Nice size bedrooms. Game room ok fooseball broken no coffee pot no paper towels no trash bags only one pool stick others broken stereo system could not get to work house was 40 degrees and took 8 hrs to warm up not enough towels dishwasher broken no wine glasses one bed in master down stairs is so bad it should be dumped in trash door knobs fell off on a few doors kitchen windows need a good cleaning chairs are starting to break loose. Table is worn out I think you get the picture
This place was so awesome and so big there was so much room for everyone to have there own space. kitchen had all cooking utensils fridge was kinda small but we had food for 4 days worth of meals. Plenty of restrooms and pool table and foos ball table had all pieces nothing broken or missing like reviews previously stated. Will definitely be back next year!!!! Thank you for sharing this cabin with us
The property is good for a big group, we had 18 people. The bed distribution could be better so no one has to sleep in a staircase landing or a common area. The house needs a bit of TLC, the coffee machine was cracked, who doesn't need coffee??? The extra pillows and blankets should be washed thoroughly or tossed if stains can't be cleaned. Unlike other properties we've stayed at they did not have board games, they do have a nice pool table and foosball table but if bring your own games if you want more than that. The house as a whole is gorgeous, with nice views, a nice lot, huge island/peninsula in the kitchen which makes feeding a big group perfect.
I booked this property before reading any reviews. When the event was the following week, I happened to read the reviews and was a little worried. The bad reviews were ridiculous and nit picky. The property was clean. The stove worked, the were pool sticks that were not broken. The curtains were not falling off the rods etc! The property was cozy and warm and had all the proper equipment supplied including lots of soap. I had purchased all these thing s before going and found that I did not need any items I brought along. There were plenty of pots and pans in good condition and all the amenities needed for cooking. The teens went snow boarding and had a blast!! It also had a very peaceful atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful time!!
The house is beautiful & spacious, however It was very disappointing, my family & I felt very disrespected & upset by the fact that the house was very dirty,Owner fees for cleaning are high, & doesn’t reflect on the condition we found the house. Some examples: microwave was dirty w/crumbs inside, stove was dirty & had built up stuff on bottom door up most kitchen pots & pans should be thrown away they are really bad! Trash can was dirty & only 1 trash bag available Grill has broken knobs & so old it doesn’t cook food evenly
1 bedroom had a dirty towel & Covid mask left on the floor,1 bedroom had hole on the wall & broken blinds, leaving room had end tables with dust like nobody had clean in a while,& dingy curtains 1 bedroom had broken bed leg. Beds had dirty blankets. 2 bedrooms had Closets with piles of blankets on the ground! We had to disinfect everything we could to feel safe
We had to drive 20 min to take our trash per owner’s contract.
Contract is too strict for renters, I was expecting high quality family time instead it turned to be a disappointment!!
The pool table Q sticks had broken tips couldn’t even play. 1 bar stool had the top cushion seat unattached
It blows my mind how this can be okay with owner or does the owner even know the condition in which the house is being rented ?
Air conditioning didn’t work thermostat is so old we couldn’t make it work even after googling the model
I called owner & had to leave message, he never call me back . I wanted to give him the feed back on the phone, if he is paying some one for cleaning or upkeep it isn’t happening & he should inspect. We paid too much money to had spent our time in this neglected home.

Big and beautiful but needs work.
The location is beautiful and the space in the house is great but there are too many small details that are overlooked either by the owner and or the cleaning service that add up. The review posted before about certain items needing repair are still the same, just wish they would have been taken care of before the next renter which was probably our group.
This beautiful property was located in a magnificent area of Big Bear and was perfect for our huge gathering of family.

Expectations were a let down
After entering the property. I noticed holes in the walls. When I pulled the comforter back in the upstairs Master. There was a big black spider in the bed. The TV didn't work. The jacuzzi tub didn't work. A total disappointment for the cost.
Family had a great time. Good size cabin for large group. Heaters worked well upstairs and downstairs. Could use a little TLC. But our family had a great time.

Why they chose this property
This property began with a dream of building a custom luxury estate cabin in a exquisite location; the Meadowbrook Estates was such the place for our dream to be fulfilled. The Meadowbrook Estates was, and is, to be one of two most luxurious areas in all of Big Bear. We were drawn to the possibility of owning a million dollar residence in an area that offers remarkable views of the Big Bear Mountains and the Cleveland National Forest, but also offers unparalleled privacy and comfort while at the same time close to all the action. We built this custom home according to what would be aesthetically beautifully in a mountain setting. Therefore, we employed the building materials found in the local area, such as wood and rock slab. Consequently, this home is adorned throughout with hard wood floors, wood panels and beams, and a complimentary portion of rock slab. We spared no detail in creating a dream home that can be enjoyed by all generations. Our wish is that all will enjoy our mountain retreat and will visit us year after year.
What makes this property unique
The Meadowbrook Estates is an unique location where you can start a hike right from your very front door. The area borders on the Cleveland National Forest, and as such, one can readily enjoy a scenic mountain hike amongst the forest cover. The views are beautiful and majestic. The Meadowbrook Estates is at a higher elevation and therefore, guests will be able sled and have snowball fights in our backyard while the lower elevation homes are out of snow. The Meadowbrook Estates is a wonderful place to candidly see wildlife in its natural setting.
