The property was very clean and modern. There was also plenty of room. We enjoyed our stay very much. The welcome book was very helpful and the host was very quick to get back to us when we did have any questions.
We had a wonderful time!Lots to do enjoyed the beach swimming, played games and shopped. Enjoyed a meal out with our children and grandson. The week was perfect.
The cottage was clean, the host was very responsive. Cottage rules were very reasonable, the kitchen and main areas were large for socializing. We had a lovely extended girls’ weekend getaway.
We had a wonderful stay at this lakefront cottage! The sauna was a great bonus, and we loved relaxing with board games in the evenings. The nearby market was super convenient, and the host was friendly and very responsive. Would definitely return!
Had a great stay at this lovely cottage over family day weekend 2025. So much snow! Well stocked cottage with anything you need. Quite the trek up to the top in the snow!
We had a lovely time at the cottage! Myself and 6 friends visited for a summer weekend and really made the most of the dock as well as the provided paddle boards and canoes. The walk down from the cottage to the lake was manageable for us but we did end up driving around more often. The cottage was very spacious and had everything we needed. Lots of room and lots of fun.
We had such a great time here! It was so beautiful and clean. They have 2 canoes and 2 paddle boards. We used both. The sauna is heated by fire. Hopefully we can come again.
A lovely cottage with everything you need for a weekend away! Our time there was a bit rainy so we took full advantage of the sauna to keep us busy. There were also board games and cards to play as well! We did run out of toilet paper and dishwasher tabs but Jacqueline was quick to respond and open to feedback! The only thing that would make this cottage better is if the water was closer, although being up on the hill makes for a great view!

Overall, a good stay. The space was clean, well-organized, and the host was responsive. We really enjoyed using the paddle boards. As another review mentioned, the doors are quite noisy and the floors are also creaky - any walking tended to wake others up. The living room doesn't comfortably sit eight people. While the listing described the water as weed-free, we found the it quite weedy as you entered the water. Still, a pleasant stay overall.
We had a fantastic week at the Haliburton highlands retreat cottage! We had a family group ages 7 months old to 65 and teens and adults in between and everyone enjoyed themselves and were comfortable. Bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. Central air was great on a couple of scorching days. Big kitchen/living room where everyone hung out. We enjoyed the bbq on the deck with the fantastic view. Swimming was amazing, water so nice. Definitely only the teens did the trek up and down the hill but it was a short car trip for the rest of us. Had a great week, thank you!
The cottage was nice. Found the doors very noisy to open and close. The whole house awakened every time anyone got up.
One of the boats leaks very badly and is not safe to use. Only part of the family could enjoy the lake.
We had a wonderful stay! The rooms are much more spacious than the photos depict; there was plenty of room for the 8 of us. The girls had their own space away from the grown ups, and we could enjoy some quiet time too. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean. The location was perfect for us, easy to find and less than 5 minutes to the ski hill. The Eagle Lake store had everything we needed when we ran out. Such a wonderful, well-equipped home. The owner was lovely to deal with as well, always prompt at responding to my questions. I highly recommend checking this space out for a winter getaway.
Our group had an amazing time at this comfy cottage. We pretty much had everything we needed for our stay. Made maximum use of the BBQ grill, outdoor bonfire, and sauna, played badminton, and cricket in the outdoor garden space, and used the canoes and paddleboards, etc (one canoe had a small hole so some of us could not use it but for the ones who had a lighter body weight were able to use that as well). We had plenty of kitchen equipment, towels, and games to play at the cottage! The lake was absolutely beautiful (wish it was closer to the cottage), The Water wasn't too cold during our stay so we were able to dip in it and have some fun. Make sure to take bug spray because there were some. The neighbors near the lake were very nice as well and they allowed us to park our car on their property since we only had space for one car. Would highly recommend it for a group and would like to come again during the fall
The cottage was clean and spacious. Each bedroom was quite large with comfortable beds. The pillows were a little flat, but no big deal. The kitchen was very well stocked. It had everything we needed! Lots of deck space to enjoy and the fire pit area was wonderful. I would not say that the water is accessible from the cottage for most people. We were a group of 5 adults ranging in age from 25-82 and none of us felt comfortable using the path down to the water. This is described in the listing and the host did explain about access to the water when we asked about it, though. However it is a very short drive to the water with a great dock as well as access to canoes which we enjoyed! I will say it was a bit of a hassle driving 20 minutes to the Haliburton dump to dispose of our garbage and recycling which we had to sort. We had one vehicle for 5 adults so it meant a separate trip to the landfill before packing up the car for the trip home. All in all, a beautiful and comfortable cottage with all the amenities and a responsive and helpful host!

The inside of the cottage is as pictured. It does have a very cozy cottage like feeling and is decorated as such. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was relatively well equipped with all the things you need (maybe do with some measuring cups). While the surfaces were all clean, the inside of the cupboards, fridge and a few other areas are in need of some attention. For the most part, we definitely enjoyed the cottage and its deck space. Some areas of the property were a little worn down or in need of attention. The dock being the biggest thing that comes to mind. The second being the weed situation. So many large weeds covering the grounds. There were many 4-5’ weeds on the property, and some of them were blocking the path down to the fire pit. The fire pit itself is great! You can easily fit 8 chairs around it. The proximity to the lake in the description is very deceiving. It is NOT a short walk down a stepped hill. It is a long and relatively treacherous, steep decent on uneven ground, wood or rock stairs and other surfaces. Not ideal for young kids whatsoever. And not ideal if you’re looking to take a cooler or any type of awkward item. We ended up needing to drive to the lake a couple of times a day and making multiple trips each time as there is only one small slopped parking spot. We were a group of 7. If you’re looking for somewhere to play an outdoor game, neither the cottage grounds themselves or the small area at the lake are going to work.
Me and friends enjoyed our stay, place is great has all one would want for a cottage getaway, abit of a walk to dock area due to landscape otherwise good
My family and I had a fantastic time at this cottage. The cottage itself is very spacious and clean. The firepit and sauna are in a great location and the lake is nice for swimming and fishing. It is a bit of a trek down a hill to get to the waterfront. It's a short drive, so if you don't plan on going back and forth to the lake 15 times a day, then it shouldn't be an issue.
The property is as in photos. It is very clean and well appointed. The host was very responsive. We stayed for one week. The Eagle Lake market being close by is very helpful. We enjoyed nearby golf, the Wolf Centre and Eagle Lake Beach with the little ones. We had to bring all the gear for the baby. Lots of games and books are available at the cottage and well as beach towels . There is a laundry room.
The beachfront and dock is nice with a canoe and paddleboards to enjoy. The only issue is the hike down the hill to the water from the cottage is not for anyone with mobility issues. It includes steep narow stairs and rock steps. We were able to load up our truck and take all the gear down as needed. We did find the local Eagle Lake Beach ( a 4 minute drive ) easier to navigate with the children. All in all a great family week. We think the property would be great in the winter as well.
A forested setting set high on the hill overlooking Eagle Lake.
The property was true to the advertised listing on VRBO. Very private. A large property with amenities required for a vacation., seating areas on two decks, BBQ, fire pit, dock on a Sandy beach with chairs, games, Satellite TV….The home was very well equipped, clean with four bedrooms that were nicely decorated. Supplies were provided for the bathrooms and kitchen as well as the laundry facilities. Jacqueline was very responsive and helpful. A lovely spot!
We loved our weekend getaway. Jacqueline was a great host! The cottage looked just like the pictures. Spacious and very clean. Stocked with so many things to make packing lighter like towels, bedding, bathroom toiletries and more. I would highly recommend — just note for those that may have mobility challenges the walk down to the lake is fairly long and steep in places. There are rock steps to help but it might be easier to drive down if you have a lot to carry.
