The loft was very thoughtfully put together. Comfortable beds and a nice bath. The owners were terrific and very helpful regarding things to do in the area. I highly recommend the Jailhouse Loft!
I really can’t say enough great things about our stay ! The bnb is located right in town, the hosts live on site and were so incredibly accommodating, kind and helpful! They even had fresh homemade cookies waiting for us when we arrived! We came here to go to the gem mine which is conveniently about 30 minutes away. We will absolutely be back again next year!
Great little loft with eclectic decor. Clean and comfortable. Great artwork hanging and a little gallery. Perfect place to stay for skiing, hiking, or exploring the area.
Very quaint and cozy loft with great hosts. Bob is very friendly and a wealth of information on local events and happenings. Galley art work is displayed in the loft. Getting to the loft is a bit of a challenge but would definitely stay again.
Cozy, quiet, & private. Bob was extremely helpful with my flat tire. P-burg is a good little town. Friendly people. Will definitely stay again next time through.
We had so much fun on our weekend stay. It was such a cute place and VERY clean. Beds were a bit small for 2 people, but they did have an air mattress. Would for sure recommend!
My bestie and I decided to come to Philipsburg to find sapphires and found this PERFECT loft!! Bob provided us with homemade cookies that were the perfect addition to this quaint studio! Make sure to check out the art studio below! As an artist this was such a great surprise! Make sure and feed the chickens too!!! Love this place!
We stayed in the host's home, because the demand for rentals the weekend we were there, were greater than rentals available. Karen was kind enough to offer her home and we enjoyed our stay. So nice to walk everywhere and have a comfy bed when we needed rest. Thank you.
close to everything. bottle of was so nice? thank you! fans were a plus.
from start to finish was great for this vrbo newbie. loved that host responded back to questions I had. my family stopped by and we ate sushi shack food in the yard and had a wonderful visit. so thank you again for a lovely time
Property address is not accurate, should be listed 321A so you know that it is on the back of the primary home. Brick steps to backyard were not cemented on and some were crumbling. The yard had different piles of debris, possibly to be used in art projects. There is a chicken coop with 6 or 7 chickens. One of the chickens got loose & our dog killed it. All in all it was a traumatic event and we did not stay the 2nd night. John & Kathryn are very nice hosts but we would have not stayed with our 9 year old dog had we known there was a chicken coop on the premise.
Lovely property, beautiful art, great location! Perfect spot for a getaway and to enjoy the town of Philipsburg. Everything you need for a pleasant stay and experience!
We had just a quick overnight stay in this charming little studio. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the little town more. Very quiet and clean and even cool enough despite not having air conditioning.
Had a little problem with the code getting in the door on the second night. I’m not sure why the code changed but when I had to knock on the door at 1:00 Am to find out why We couldn’t get in the door, the host yelled out a new code and that was it. The new code worked but we have no idea why it changed. Also getting to the loft is a little awkward down makeshift brick path and avoiding obstacles. If you have troubles walking, it might be difficult walking to the loft with luggage or cooler.
This eclectic studio loft is perfect for a couple of people on a weekend getaway to historic Philipsburg or skiing. Pack light and plan to eat dinner in one of the excellent restaurants in town.
Nice and convenient place to stay as we explored Philipsburg. Thanks for the hospitality!

About the host
Hosted by Bob Hansen
My husband Bob and I bought our property in Oct 2021 while we were on our honeymoon and we love it. We still live part time in MN if we aren't here when you come. We love Philipsburg!
Why they chose this property
We loved the fact that our home was a miner's cabin and moved to this location after the mines closed at Granite City in 1900. We have decorated the interior of our home as a Swedish Cottage. The Jailhouse is decorated in western style.
What makes this property unique
Both Bob and I are artists and we have turned our garage below the Loft into a gallery for my paintings and Bob's lamps and furniture that he crafts out of vintage items. Take a tour through the gallery when you are staying with us.
