Fun at the Farmette!

We stayed two nights with our family while enjoying activities around the area. The owners were very nice and easy to work with! Everything was very clean and fresh, appliances were new yet the place had a delightful old fashioned charm to it! We would definitely go back!!

Great place but completely unsafe and unresponsive to concerns about safety and security.

Property was exactly as advertised, lovely and quiet. But all doors did not lock, property is in residential area, and when we contacted property manager we were told "Let me reach out to the owner; he doesn't lock any of his properties and doesn't understand most people want to." Direct quote. Needless to say the problem was not fixed. We locked an aging screen door the best we could and wedged a chair in place to assist. Also upon our arrival there was no check-in procedure offered, other than our texting the listing manager to say we had arrived. And finally there were no instructions, rules, procedures or any other information available to us. The manager's response was "We don't have a book of rules. We want people to enjoy the house not feel prisoner to it." We were not asking for a textbook of rules. We wanted to know where to find firewood for fire pit and where to dump garbage when we left. Completely unsatisfactory from that perspective, which was a shame since as we said it was a lovely property. We left the place nearly spotless (pics available if the manager claims otherwise), but with "no rules", I am not sure why we bothered.

Thank you for explaining the house is lovely we appreciate that very much as we worked very hard to get it to that point. I apologize for the lack of locks and as I stated the owner doesn’t lock any of his properties and stand behind that. That should have made you feel extremely safe however you did choose to spin it like we didn’t care. Also when I advised you there was no list of rules and we didn’t want you to be prisoner to the house that is exactly what we meant. That is why exclusively rent to adults we would hope you would treat our home like your own. You paid a cleaning fee when you booked and therefore we take care of all the cleaning, the garbage etc. You did leave the house spotless and I thank you for that. It’s unfortunate that you have us a 2 rating since all our other properties are 5 stars. I hope you find the perfect place next time you visit the UP. It sure isn’t like Illinois up here.

Nice quiet location in a rustic house

Liked the location and the house worked out for the most part. I would suggest the following changes. The beds are hard and very uncomfortable. We added as much padding as we could to get by. It's an old house nicely updated but has a foul/musty odor that begs to be aired out and perhaps needs an air purifier. Living room sitting accomodations are adequate but could be improved for sure. TV is somewhat lame and needs to be described in listing as is. No channels, streaming only with renters accounts. Freebie pluto tv was added later. Biggest issue is bed quality. People are mainly looking for a quiet safe place to sleep. The provided beds will disappoint almost everyone.

OK for a short stay

We had just 2 nights in Sault Ste. Marie. The property is looks dated from outside but fully renovated inside and comfortably accommodated 4 of us plus the dog. A few things: a) The house needs a dehumidifier in summers b) Only bathroom needs some kind of exhaust - even if it is a window fan AND a face wash (not just body wash!) c) Bed sheets did not exactly looked crisp (of course, we took our own sheets and towels; so that didn't bother us) and looked like those have been slept in d) Living room furniture could use newer stuff e) Instructions talk about dishwasher but there's none at this property. f) The deck had lot of dirt / sand. I would have expected that it is cleaned before the next family came in

Nice location and nice property. Bdrms & beds are a bit small & pull out could use extra padding.

Very nice. Looks to be recently updated. Very close to local attractions.
