We had a one month stay at this condo. We travelled with our two daughters, ages 7 and 9. From the moment we had this condo booked to the last minute of checkout, everything was smooth. Frankie and his family are such great hosts and very reaponsive. The condo was clean, everything was available. The location was the best part. We had the option of walking to one of the best beaches in Kihei (according to locals), or go to the pool. We woke up to beautiful sunrise views and gorgeous sunset views everyday. As a family, we agreed whenever we come back to Maui, this will be our spot to book. Frankie made it so effortless and made our vacation more relaxed by being the best host. Thank you Frankie and family :)

What a lovely property. Well stocked with kitchen supplies. Comfortable beds and couch. Large table on veranda to share with friends to enjoy view of the ocean and mountain where we could watch the sunrise every morning. The Surfside property offers great access to nature - a turtle cove off the walking path where 300 lb turtles were resting, snorkeling off the beach, wild birds. It is a bit of heaven. TVs are older and glitchy which was the only downside. We had an excellent stay.

What a fantastic host and perfect view. We love this beautiful vacation stay spot. And Frankie made it just an absolute joy. You can trust that every last detail has been taken care of and you’ll be comfortable and happy. We enjoyed our time at Frankie, Jonas and Leonie home. They have done a great job in creating a welcoming space, and it showed. The views were unforgettable and beautiful. The common space was cozy and entertaining. Overall it was a 5-star experience. We hope to be back! Would recommend. Mahalo

Overall, we had a good stay. The owners kindly allowed us to check in early, which was a huge help with a sick infant. They provided two clean Pack 'n Plays, and the complex staff (especially Koni) was wonderful with luggage and beach gear. The unit is well-equipped with AC, fans, plenty of towels, and beach supplies.However, several maintenance and cleanliness issues need attention:* Bathroom: Shower pan was crusted and needs a deep scrub. Shower head drips, leaks, and has heavy mineral buildup, and the slider bar is loose. Found a cockroach in the bathroom and had to wash a dirty bath mat.* Kitchen & Appliances: No standard stove—only a microwave-style unit. Instant Pot missing its inner liner. Washer had wet sheets left inside causing a strong mildew smell and needs a deep clean. Vacuum was completely full, broken, smelly, and doesn't pick up well.* Cleanliness: Rug and drawers were dirty (found leftover nail clippers in living room).* Comfort & Amenities: Bed in the secondary room (two singles pushed together) is excessively soft and gave us back pain; I had to sleep on the couch. Dining chairs are uncomfortable, balcony furniture is oversized, a few lights flicker, and Wi-Fi was unreliable despite contacting the office.These issues didn't ruin our trip, but for the price, we expected better upkeep and accurate amenity descriptions.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with this rental. It was advertised as a 10, but in our opinion with everything we had to navigate it was a 7 at best. I will layout where our experiences where they differed from the VRBO description. The bathrooms are small and in need of being touched up, they didn’t meet the standard of a 10 rating. The condo amenities state that there is an oven, coffee maker, toaster, Smart TV, DVD player, and excellent WiFi. The coffee maker didn’t work and no traditional oven and toaster (it is a very old toaster oven). The WiFi system is very inconsistent resulting in a very frustrating time with lost signals on the phone and TV. The TV did not work when we arrived as we found that the Spectrum service box was not connected and the remote did not work because the batteries in it were corroded and the cover was missing. What was frustrating through it all was there were no instructions on how to operate the appliances such as TV setup with Spectrum and the washer/dryer. You cannot directly see the sunset from the lanai. The condo is on the third floor and is the furthest from the ocean so when standing on the deck you cannot see the sunset and you overlook a lawn area that is also a public dog park. At the end or side of the lanai is a staging area for construction work, trash, and deliveries.After reading over the reviews when I returned home I came upon one that was posted from Sept. 2026. I completely agree with their summary.

Perfect Place to Stay!

The Surf Side is a great location. This two bedroom condo was very well stocked and very comfortable. The hosts were very responsive and responded to our inquiries right away. We highly recommend this property! Great spot to view sunsets as well and close proximity to amenities.

Kihei Surfside Paradise

Beautiful updated comfortable condo, breathtaking views and perfect location with sunsets, pool and steps to the beach. Gracious hosts with all the amenities you need for the perfect stay and immaculate. We can’t wait to book our next trip back to this spectacular island! Mahalo!!

Beautiful location

This property couldn’t have a better location. Close to Kihea and Wailea. The grass park in front of the condo offered breath taking views all day but sunset was especially special. The condo was well kept and provided all we needed. We loved it!

Nice location!

Great location! It was nice being close to Kehei but not in the middle of town. It was very quiet with a great beach and a nice pool. We were able to BBQ most dinners and we ate at the tables on the lawn. The condo was well stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards and beach towels. The lanai was roomy with great patio furniture. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay at this apartment in Maui! The place was spotless, modern, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Each room had its own A/C, which was a big plus, and the kitchen was spacious and fully stocked—perfect for cooking meals at home. The views were stunning, and the beach just a 2-minute walk away was one of the best swimming spots we found on the island. Truly paradise. The hosts were amazing—super responsive and helpful, with excellent communication throughout. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay in an unbeatable location!

Amazing Place & Host

We loved staying at Frankie John's condo at the Kihei Surfside. The condo has great views and is very nicely appointed. We loved making breakfast in the kitchen and listening to the sound of the ocean. It felt like a home and not just a vacation rental. Frankie John is a very considerate and gracious host. Coulnd't ask for better and we look forwarding to stay again!

The place was very clean upon our arrival. The management office checked in with us, asked if we had any questions, left us a nice bottle of wine, and snacks. Check-in was at 4 pm, but I asked if we could check in earlier because we were meeting friends for a Luau. We were granted access. Thank you so much. Everything we needed was in the kitchen. The view was amazing, and the unit was large enough that you didn't feel like you were on top of one another. The on-suite bathroom shower door is a bit stiff, but it closed just fine. The main bathroom shower is a lot more powerful. There were hair dryers in each bathroom, so you do not need to go back and forth. The furniture was comfortable for sitting and watching TV (the TV had not many channels to choose from). I know we're in Hawaii, but why are we watching TV? We had a 5-month-old baby with us, so there were a lot of early nights. We had a wonderful time and would go back again. The beds were comfortable for a good night's sleep. Frankie is such a great host!!!

This was such a great property!! The view from the balcony was amazing! We even saw whales one morning from there. The beach was so close it wasn’t a big deal to send the kids back to the room to get something is they forgot it. Frankie was so responsive and friendly, it was so reassuring to know she was available, actually available, to assist with any requests!

So many locals thanked us for coming despite the news stories on the mainland. Without tourism in the unaffected areas the devastation would be worse. Many are fearful of the upcoming months that reservations were canceled. Please come to Maui, the people are depending on us. Mahalo

A dream come true

Our recent vacation to Maui was nothing short of incredible, and I can confidently say that this was one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever taken!! From the breathtaking landscapes of the condo to the warm hospitality, everything about this trip exceeded our expectations. While there was a minor hiccup with our door code at the beginning, the way the hosts went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable and truly showcased the spirit of aloha that Maui is so well-known for. They were incredibly apologetic for the inconvenience and their willingness to make things right, combined with the stunning location and unforgettable experiences, made this one of the best vacations we’ve ever had.When it came time to leave, we were sad to say goodbye to both the beautiful island, location and the amazing hosts who had made our stay so memorable.If you ever come across this piece of heaven, I would highly recommend you book! Great place and an unbeatable location right by Keawakapu beach! We really enjoyed our stay. We loved that they provided beach gear, though a few items like the boogie board are ready for a replacement. The kitchen was very well-stocked (heads up: no oven, but plenty of other appliances!). Even though the living room AC was down while we were there, the two bedroom units worked flawlessly and kept us perfectly cool. While we noticed some general cleanliness issues, overall we had a great stay.
