Enjoy our lovely retreat located within 20 minutes of the majestic red rocks of Sedona and their famous hiking trails, over a dozen wineries, the free flowing Verde River, amazing restaurants, music, the Verde Canyon Railroad, museums and wildlife. Join a ghost tour in Jerome on the side of the mountain and savor a mouth watering burger at the Haunter Hamburger! Visit the funky shops and be sure to see all the amazing kaleidoscopes at Nellie Blys. Spend a day in Old Town Cottonwood in the wine tasting rooms, fabulous eateries, and one of a kind stores. There are five state parks: Slide Rock, Red Rock, Fort Verde, Dead Horse, and Jerome. If you have the time, a day trip to the Grand Canyon shouldn't be missed!
For those interested in heritage sites and ruins, the following are available: Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, Paltatka Heitage Site, Honanki Heritage Site, V Bar V Heritage Site (well preserved petroglyphs), and Clemenceau Heritage Museum. The Sinagua, Hohokam and Pueblo people inhabited the area between 1100 and 1425 AD. You will find well informed park rangers and guides to help you learn about them.
Since this is a dark sky community, the stars will be visible in an amazing array every night. There are no streetlights to mask it. We are fortunate to have it all!
The space:
Guests will enjoy complete privacy in a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom unit with an open floor plan. There is an electric fireplace for that added ambiance. The bedroom has a new queen size bed and original Mid-century modern furniture with blackout curtains for sleeping in. A new sleeper sofa in the living area also promises a good night’s rest. We hope you like the signed/numbered cowboy print in our redecorated bathroom. The backyard has a canopied swing to keep off the sun on a hot day, but also adjusts into a bed for a relaxing nap, or climb in the hammock for two. A fire pit/table does double duty for outdoor dining and evening fun. There is room to play corn hole by the lower retaining wall and low lights for after dark. Just outside the door is a restful patio with chairs and a table for morning coffee and an excellent place to watch a sunrise. There are two TV’s, a 55” in the living area and a 46” in the bedroom. Streaming only. Our WiFi is a 28/10 fiber optic system that easily handles Zoom. We have provided books and a variety of games for down time. Also provided is information on wine tours, sightseeing, restaurant recommendations and hopefully enough activities here to keep you occupied and rested during your stay.
We use solar panels for electricity, are avid recyclers, and you will have no need to bring bottled water since we have a private well with no impurities. We utilize a non-salt water softener.
Guest access:
All the space is accessible to the guests.
Other things to note
There are no stairs, steps or other barriers. The driveway is wide and can accommodate handicapped vehicles. Just be aware the driveway is gravel. Pull up to the gate where the sidewalk begins. Floodlights come on after dark as soon as motion is detected. The gate needs to be kept closed due to wildlife in the area. The entry door measures 35” wide. It is wide enough for a wheelchair, however the interior doors are not.
Some photos may be different depending on the season as we change bedding and outdoor foliage will differ, among other things. We are located in the county, just outside the Cottonwood city limits. This means a savings of more than 3% as the sales tax is lower. Please note that any bookings of 28+ days must also have a long term tenant agreement per Arizona law. No sale taxes are required for these bookings.
A government ID is required from those who book. A background check is run on everyone who books the property!
