Calicaribe is a modern, fully air-conditioned vacation rental home located on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. The villa is situated on a hilltop with amazing views of the Caribbean Sea, St. Thomas, and multiple smaller islands.

The western views offer beautiful sunsets each evening and the sparkling lights of St. Thomas at night. The large pool deck, with custom glass tile pool, and the covered veranda and spacious observation deck, allow guests to enjoy the magnificent weather, while also admiring some of the very best water views on St. John!

The views overlook the famous Pillsbury Sound and feature sailing vessels, mega yachts, tall ships, and boats as they navigate some of the finest boating waters in the world.

The home is located on a large, one acre lot with full tropical landscaping and natural vegetation, which provide total privacy. Calicaribe is just outside Cruz Bay, minutes from great dining and shopping and a short drive to the fabulous North Shore beaches, all on paved roadways.

Calicaribe is furnished with beautiful mahogany furniture, and original art. The modern kitchen is ideal for cooking meals at the villa. The home is fully stocked with towels, linens, bath products, cookware, and all the items needed to make your stay a pleasure.

The home features three custom, limestone baths with beautiful mahogany cabinets, and full central air conditioning is throughout the villa. The property also incorporates hand crafted mahogany windows and doors, which provide scenic views of Pillsbury sound , St Thomas, and the outer cays.

The expansive pool deck surrounds a unique glass tile swimming pool, and the observation deck offers some of the most impressive views on St John.

Calicaribe is nicely appointed , with comfortable mahogany furniture and beds. The house features original art from respected Caribbean artists. The large , custom mahogany sliders, provide exceptional views of the Caribbean Sea , while also securing the home . It's location, just outside of Cruz Bay, is ideal for easy trips to town and the North Shore beaches.

Calicaribe's design is the classic Caribbean 'pod' style construction which consists of three separate buildings on the property. The main house includes a living room, kitchen, laundry, office area, and master bedroom & bath .

A second bedroom and bath are located across the pool deck. The third bedroom is situated below the pool deck, and this unit includes a bedroom, living area, kitchen, and bath. These separate units provide maximum privacy for our guests.

Amazing vacation

It was our first time back to St John in a few years and our space was perfect. Close to Cruz Bay for nice dinners but far enough away to still see plenty of local wildlife. Highly recommend.

This is my fourth trip to St. john. This home was easily the best home I have rented, yet. Fantastic location, great quality, clean and has every amenity you need while on the island. I cannot recommend this villa enough. A/C was plentiful and zoned for comfort, the master bathroom was a treat and the view from the pool was unforgettable (the listing pics arent done very well IMO). We will def be back to this home. Hosts were great but not needed.

Wonderful Stay

This was our favorite home so far on St. John. Not too far from town, but up in the hills with a beautiful view. We had a family group switch out mid stay with some friends and they even came and cleaned for us! The property manager was easy to work with as we had some quesitons while we were there. The house is beautiful, I highly recommend. It was well equiped and beautifully decorated.

Stunning Stay in St. John

Superb location overlooking the sound and quite possibly the best view on the island. Shannon the property manager met us in town immediately after arriving and was the consummate host - if we ever needed anything during our stay, she immediately responded. The property was gorgeous and fit the needs of my family perfectly over the Thanksgiving holiday - the owners were happy to give us recommendations for restaurants and on provisioning alike. The home was in an ideal location for not only the stunning views, but was in close proximity to the supermarket, beaches and other prime locations in Cruz Bay. A must stay when vacationing to St. John.

Beautiful property with incredible views! Also had all the amenities that we needed - cook ware, beach chairs, plenty of towels. The only three things, 2 of which can be easily addressed: the main bedroom bed was horribly sagging - as soon as we walked in the room you could see the heavy indents. The other thing is the main shower hot water heater was not working properly - the water never really got hot. The third thing - even though we kept all the doors closed during our stay, the house was filled with mosquitos, we got eaten alive the first few nights - we always expect mosquitos in st john, but this was more than usual. Not sure if this can be remedied? Otherwise, it was an incredible property, and we had another amazing trip to this beautiful island!

Perfect Vacation home

We spent a week there with 2 teenage girls. They loved having their own space from us. The home is perfect. The pictures of very accurate. The location is great. It is secluded but not too far to go into Cruz Bay to get supplies. It was very quiet and we felt very safe. This was the best stocked home we have every stayed in. We supplies that we did not need because they had them. The manager was excellent and answered all of our questions. We are already trying to plan a way to come back and stay there just next time without the kids. It is a perfect home for a couples get away.

Love City Hideaway

My wife and I have been relocating for our summers and Christmas holidays for over ten years now: this is by far the best place we have stayed in. Calicaribe is beautifully situated, designed, and decorated, and it’s extremely comfortable. The villa is located on a hillside in such a way that you have both tree-shaded privacy and expansive views of Pillsbury Sound with its many islands as well as the hillsides of Cruz Bay. Choose to sit with your coffee on the shaded veranda or read by the sun-splashed pool gazing out over the water. The house itself is very nicely designed. The living spaces are centered around the pool and the terrace. The three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are well situated to provided maximum privacy, and each has it’s unique charms and views. The open plan living room and kitchen are bright, cheerful, and comfortably well-furnished. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare basic meals. The villa is about a minute from either the Starfish Market or the Dolphin Market. Both have anything you could want or need in terms of snacks and groceries, and an amazing collection of alcohol and wines at any price point. Walking into town is a fairly easy ten-minute stroll. The walk back is a challenge when you hit the final hills headed up to the villa. We’re both runners and we found the town forbidding because of the steep hills and lack of shoulder space on the roads. However, we were surprised by how much we enjoyed the pool. We used it every day.

Absolute Perfection

This was the best VRBO experience I think we've had. The house was beyond beautiful. SPOTLESS! Someone was there the minute we arrived, followed us up to the house, & showed us around, explained things, etc. Then promptly left us in paradise. We were there for a celebration of life, the rest of our party was staying right around the corner in two different houses. Location was perfect. Town is not far, just a quick zip down the hill. The market is also conveniently located very close by. Both our friend staying with us & us had a jeep. Both fit perfectly in the driveway. My husband & I stayed in the main house, very large bathroom, walk-in shower & lots of closet/drawer space. Our guests stayed in the two casitas that are on property just across the pool from the main house. Also very nicely done, spotless, king beds, ensuite bathrooms & one even has a kitchenette. Both very private, comfortable, clean & quiet. Each has their own outdoor patio space as well. The pool was so refreshing. It was very hot & to get in the pool after a day at the beach or on the boats was the best. Lots of pool towels & noodles were available as well as beach chairs to take to the beach. There is also an outdoor shower by the pool which was very refreshing as well, & was nice to get the sand off. I can't say enough about this house. It's perfect for a family, for 3 couples, or for a friends trip. It is a quiet area, so I wouldn't say its the best choice for a loud group, but we had a great time.

Well appointed and beautiful property with a spectacular view. Property manager was easily accessible and very helpful upon check-in, but we had no issues with the home so didn’t really need her services beyond that. Comfortable beds and linens, well stocked with all that you need to enjoy your time on the island, and a lovely pool and deck area with a great view of the sun setting over the island of St Thomas. There isn’t much seating in the main house, as noted by my wife, but there is plenty outside both covered and uncovered. I honestly didn’t notice this until she remarked on it, and we both agreed that spending time inside in a place as stunningly beautiful as St John was pretty much losing the plot. Would definitely stay there again.

I don’t think our group could have any better of a time staying at Calicaribe. It is a beautiful location that feels away from it all, but still close to town with amazing views. Also, the house has EVERYTHING that you need from beach chairs to coolers to beach towels. The house is absolutely gorgeous with so much attention to detail. We had a group of friends go and each of us had our own bedroom, bathroom and space. I would say the best part was the private pool and the beautiful master shower! We all want to come back as soon as we can!

St. John's Finest

We have just returned from the most wonderful vacation on St. John. Calicaribe was the most gracious home and we were privileged to be guests. The amenities were the finest with beautiful linens, a kitchen with everything you need to prepare a beautiful meal and rooms filled with lovely furnishings. It is hard to explain exactly how beautiful the doors and windows are in this home. It is a strange thing to notice, but they are hard to miss. The beautifully appointed master bath was dreamy and the view from the master bed itself was of the water and palm trees, all framed by triple windows! The glass tiled pool was lovely as was the decking connecting the space. We marveled at how quickly a morning shower could pass, followed by daily rainbows - sometimes double rainbows! Let's not forget the beautiful covered porch (or is it called a veranda?) that allows you to sit outside during the morning rain shower or to enjoy dinner together outside. Calicaribe's location was the best of all. Just minutes from town, yet so utterly private and secluded. The views go on for miles to include too many islands to mention and a sunset each evening just as a reminder of your good fortune. Thank you for your hospitality. This vacation will remain with us for a long, long time. All we need to do is close our eyes and recall Calibcaribe. Ahhhh!

We had the best time at Calicaribe! The house is beautifully designed and decorated with comfortable beds, luxury furnishings, and high-end linens. Relaxing around the pool watching the sunset was something we'll never forget. We loved being so close to Cruz Bay and Starfish Market. The owner Chuck, House Manager Shannon and Carlito were so easy to work with, super friendly and answered any questions we had right away. We have stayed in many vacation home rentals; Calicaribe is our new favorite and we hope to visit again soon.

My husband & I just stayed at Villa CaliCaribe on St John. The house is wonderfully laid out with gorgeous western views from everywhere. Fantastic outdoor space as well for sun bathing, reading, swimming & dining. The pool, although small, was great. Terrific location too. Close to Starfish Market & all the shops & restaurants, plus the beautiful beaches. The villa is very private with secure parking next to the house. We spent 12 relaxing days there & hated to see our vacation come to an end.

Lovely home close to town but completely private

This is our second time staying in Calicaribe and we were a little concerned after the hurricane but it still looks beautiful. The home has less bedrooms than some other homes we've stayed in but perfect for 1 or 2 couples. There is a lower level with a small kitchen and queen bed but we didn't need it. The path to the lower level has been improved since our last stay. Would be a nice space for another family now that the path is easier to navigate. The pool is still our favorite spot after a day at the beaches and morning coffee. Stunning views and with it being right off the living areas it was where we hung out the most. No stairs to the pool! It is completely private, with sunset views and twinkling lights from St. Thomas every night. We cooked in several nights, there is a grill, a nice open kitchen layout and all the amenities you need. The Master bath is gorgeous! The wi-fi seemed to be upgraded since our last visit and they added a generator, although luckily we never needed that! Our contact was always very attentive to us if we had any questions and was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived. We have been coming to St. John for 15 + years and have stayed in lots of villas but we find Calicaribe to fit our needs perfectly.

An Incredible and Unforgettable Getaway

Calicaribe was absolutely amazing to say the least! Chuck and Traci were incredible hosts! They were an email away from any questions that we had for our stay (post hurricane Irma and Maria.) The views were absolutely breathtaking and was so wonderful to wake up and enjoy the beautiful scenery! Calicaribe is a short drive away from downtown Cruz Bay shops, restaurants, the gas station, markets, and beaches. We didn't know what to expect being that St. John experienced major devastation. You would never know that two hurricanes came through at Calicaribe. It sure did not fail to deliver in every aspect! The master bathroom and bedroom in the main house was beautiful and so spacious! We grilled one night and every evening enjoyed some swimming in the outdoor pool after spending the day at the beaches. We were sad to leave but can't wait to come back one day in the hopefully very near future!

Mr. and Mrs. Ross also produce one of Florida's largest musical events - The legendary Tampa Bay Blues Festival. They have traveled extensively throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean islands and believe that St. John is the ultimate Caribbean gem!

Why they chose this property

Charles and Traci first visited St John in 1997 and were married in the Lutheran Church in Cruz Bay in 1999. For years, they explored the beaches, parks and communities of St John. In 2005, Charles and Traci purchased Calicaribe as their personal vacation home because of the villa's location just minutes from Cruz Bay and the North Shore beaches. After years of searching, they believe they finally found the perfect island vacation home.
