Really enjoyed this Orleans home for our week long stay in June. House was clean, organized, and well stocked. Loved being walking distance to the beach.
This was our second year staying at Dennis and Lisa's lovely house. It provides us with everything that is important to us for a great week at the Cape. We are a three-generation group with young children, and the combination of walkability to a great beach, incredible griddle/grill for preparing all breakfasts and dinners, four bedrooms, and the recent addition of some window unit air conditioners checks all the boxes. There are many other positive details, but those are the ones that stand out for our crew. Thanks Lisa and Dennis!
We had a great stay! The home was perfect for our family (6 adults, 4 children, 1 dog). All the beds were comfortable, and the window A/C units paired with fans throughout allowed us to stay cool when we wanted/needed. The screened-in porch was lovely and the perfect place to have our meals. Although we didn’t use much (we overpacked), the items in the shed were a nice touch, especially for anyone who forgot or didn’t want to pack various beach items. The location was great and felt very central to everywhere we wanted to go on the Cape. The walk to nearby Skaket beach was easy- the distance we walked out into the bay at low tide was farther in comparison! Communication with the owner was prompt and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
This was the 3rd year our family stayed at the Skaket Beach house. It suits us perfectly for our Thanksgiving visit with near -by family. The Schultz family
We had a wonderful stay! The kitchen is well-stocked, loads of towels, comfy beds, kids' toys, beach chairs, bikes. Everything we needed! Very cozy and homey!
We enjoyed our stay! The house was nice and roomy and we appreciated the beach chairs and the bikes. There was one night when we wouldn't have minded having some A/C, but that was pretty minor. Overall, great stay at a great house.
We spent two memorable weeks at this lovely home within a 10 minute walk to Skaket Beach over the 4th of July. I have to say we have never had a more thoughtfully furnished rental. With 4 large bedrooms, multiple comfortable beds in each, plenty of extra pillows and linens we were very comfortable. The home is indeed vintage but charming and was exceptionally clean. The hosts have provided everything you could possibly need or want when you are away from home from a well stocked kitchen, a shed full of beach items, a basement with bikes and helmets, pack n plays, booster seats, toys, books, games even a front closet with rain gear, fleeces and beach shoes just in case. They thought of everything and everything was labeled and in its place. The hosts were gracious and easy to communicate with. They were prompt with replies when contacted and offered an early check in as the house was available earlier in the day. We are so appreciative that they shared their home with us. It really felt like home.
My family of 5 plus my parents had a wonderful weekend in Orleans. The house was perfect and the walk to the beach was enjoyable for our dogs. Would definitely look to rent again!
My family has stayed here for several years at Thanksgiving. The location is perfect for us as it is a very short walk to my sisters home. It is clean and spacious and works for our family of children, parents and grand parents.
We had a very comfortable long weekend near Skaket Beach. The property was well equipped and comfortable. The kids loved the table games, board games, and vintage books!
Great house, great location and really great hosts! The house was stocked up so far beyond my expectations, with very thoughtful items. And comfortable beds! We had so much fun taking our dog out onto the flats at Skaket beach!
Our family and a handful of late teens had a great week! The house had everything we needed and the vintage stove worked perfectly. Very close to Skaket Beach and a short drive to Nauset. Love that sheets and an assortment of towels were included.
This is our second time at this property. We brought our extended family for a beach vacation over the busy holiday week. This property has something for everyone - a short walk to the beach, space/items for children and infants, and a great fire pit. The beds were comfortable and there was enough hot water for us all to have a warm shower!
We highly recommend this property and had a blast!
You can't beat the location (it's a short walk from the beach). The house itself was in great condition. The back porch needs a little bit of work, but it's complete usable and was a great time, even in the winter. We stayed with another couple and our dog. It had a great yard and was a very spacious.

Thanks so much for your feedback, it's appreciated. I'm glad that you enjoyed our home. Yes, the back porch is definitely in need of repair! It had suffered some damage back in October and we are now working to get it repaired. Before warmer weather arrives, we plan on re-screening the entire porch, getting a new screen door, painting the entire area and purchasing new patio furniture. We look forward to posting updated pictures of this and other projects we are currently undertaking.
My family and I had a wonderful stay. The house was clean and organized. The kitchen was stocked with everything for your cooking needs. Plenty of beach supplies and even bikes to ride to Skaket Beach! At night our family had plenty of games, puzzles, and ping pong to keep us entertained. We would highly recccomend!
Lisa and Dennis were great hosts, accurately describing their property and responding quickly and generously the few times we needed help or their attention. The house easily accommodated six adults and two infants, and we prepared big breakfasts and dinners every morning and evening on the large outdoor skillet/grill. With a license from the city, clamming for steamers right on Skaket Beach was fun and easy. We can't wait to return.
Our family of 6 adults and 4 kids had a great stay! There was plenty of room for all of us to get together to eat and play games as well as to have enough space for our belongings and have a minute to yourself. We enjoyed the firepit and the screened in porch! The house had everything we needed! We loved the location! We were able to walk to Skaket and it's only a 10 minute drive to Nauset Beach where we went over-sanding all week! The hosts were very easy to work with and responded right away! I would highly recommend this house for large families!
Our 3-gen family loved our week at the Walk to Skaket Beach house. The house was filled with wonderful games and toys for the kids. It even had extra bicycles and a ping-pong table. We could tell this house has been treasured by a family similar to ours for generations. The price was right for a home with older appliances air conditioning. And we loved the short walk to Skaket beach.
This was our second year at this house. Both times parents, grandparents and children were really able to relax and enjoy ourselves. The location is super convenient; easy walk to a great beach and short drive to the town and shopping.
(The only thing missing is a dishwasher.)
Excellent location. Home is roomy and very well appointed. Nice yard, quiet neighborhood. Only drawback was no air conditioning, a couple of nights were brutal especially upstairs but there are plenty of fans available to use. We had absolutely no issues so didn’t need to contact property management. Had a great vacation and would definitely recommend for large families Thank you for letting us borrow your home for the week!!!!
Great home in a great location. The home had everything you need. Loved having breakfast on the screened-in porch each morning. My son loved the outdoor shower. The teens could go to the beach on their own with just a 10 min walk. We had easy access to many great places on the Cape. Bike trail nearby. Great value. Very comfortable stay.
We booked this for two families plus my older father to celebrate his 80th birthday. It was large enough for us all to spend time together inside or have space outside to spread out. Not fancy, but everything was to a good standard. Outdoor shower is always nice to have.
The main feature is location, a short walk to Skaket beach or the rail trail. House is on a quiet private street that feels secluded, but a very short drive to stores, restaurants and the Firebirds baseball field. Nauset Beach also close if you want an ocean side beach. We were happy with it and would stay there again
We had a lovely long weekend on Skaket beach. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. The house is incredibly well stocked with games, puzzles, kitchen items. We had everything we could have needed. The beach chairs, beach towels, linens, and bikes were all so appreciated. We barely needed to bring anything. The house is well set up for large groups or small. The attention to detail and needs of guests is quite nice. There are even extra toothbrushes, shampoos, and razors for the forgetful. We loved the outdoor shower. I would absolutely rent again. We really loved this house and Skaket beach. The flats at low tide were amazing and we loved watching the sunset on the beach with many others from the neighborhood. Highly recommend!!

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Desmarais
We've cherished this home ever since our daughters were toddlers, with years filled with meaningful moments and shared adventures. From hiking scenic trails and walking the frozen tidal flats at Skaket Beach in winter to riding bikes along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, this house has been the backdrop for countless family memories. We hope that every guest who stays here feels that same sense of comfort, joy, and connection and leaves with their own treasured memories to hold onto for years to come.
Why they chose this property
Our family has owned this home ever since it was built in the late 1960's. There's nothing like breathing in the fresh salty ocean air and listening to the birds while relaxing on our back porch. I love how we can walk to the beach, walk to the bike path, and also walk into town if we choose. And the quiet location of our small dead end street is perfect for privacy!
What makes this property unique
What makes our home truly unique is the feeling it gives you the moment you walk in: carefree, welcoming, and lived-in with love. The Formica kitchen countertops are a nostalgic nod to childhood, where countless ice cream sundaes were created, and the vintage stove still turns out home-cooked meals. Every room invites you to settle in, unwind, and simply enjoy. This is a well-used, well-loved home made for connection, perfectly suited for families and friends of all ages. It’s thoughtfully cared for, clean, and stocked with an array of amenities you might not expect, but will be so glad to have.
