About this property

Family Farmhouse

Welcome to this special home on 2.5 private acres with an enchanting redwood grove, and fruit trees.

The house is located 1.5 miles up from Soquel Village, offering options for coffee shops, amazing restaurants, wineries, antique stores.

Capitola village and beach, and New Brighton beach are a short 3 miles drive. World class surfing at Pleasure Point is 4.8 miles, and the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is just 7 miles away.

Land of Medicine Buddha, located minutes away, is a destination for well being and restorative hiking.

Monterey and Pebble Beach are 40 miles away for visits to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the famous 17 Mile Drive.

French doors extend the spacious floorplan to the wrap around porch where you will soak in the afternoon sun, spending quiet time with nature. Bring your watercolors and yoga mat. Or liven it up playing darts. Create a memorable evening under the stars in the redwood grove.

The well appointed kitchen, with zinc countertops and a Wedgewood stove, is the classic, central gathering place of the home. A mudroom off the kitchen is a well-used catch all area for laundry, shoes, groceries, beach gear.

Three bedrooms and a full bath are upstairs. The master suite is on the main level. All provide privacy from the common area.

The "school room" is a separate office area...and a foosball table.

The driveway and parking area is dirt, so dust kicks up when driving. The grounds and land are kept natural and changes with the season (i.e. green in January, brown in July). Fruit trees are ready to harvest July-January, depending on the fruit. A few storage outbuildings exist on the property, and are not recommended/available for guest use.

About the host

Host profile image
I absolutely love being a host and making this home available for families and groups to create lasting memories. I was born and raised in Boulder, CO and have lived in California for 30+ years. The Santa Cruz area has been home since 1997. I am an avid collector of found treasures and making art is a hobby. I love the beach, the forest, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

Why they chose this property

There is something incredible about being able to step outside the door and into the enchanting grove of hundreds+ year old towering redwood trees. Looking up into the canopy's filtered light, and enjoying the cool shade of the fairy ring never gets old.

The original home was built in 1852 and was used as a bunk house for loggers. When I renovated the home in 2010, I kept the original redwood subfloor as the main floor. Even walking on those floors is special, knowing it was likely milled from the property.

The location of the home is referred to as "close in country", meaning you're close to everything, including the ocean, and you have the space and tranquility of a country setting.

What makes this property unique

The wrap around porch is truly a unique benefit to this home. It extends the indoor/outdoor living space so there is ample room for people to find privacy or gather in a group. Star gazing from the steps is the perfect way to end the day.
