This home was absolutely perfect! We all loved the decor as well as the location of the property. It has a beautiful view of the surrounding river and tree lines. Very close to so many beautiful locations as well as shopping and wonderful restaurants. We were very happy with this home and the hosts. They are very responsive and answer messages quickly. If I am ever back in Iceland, I would not hesitate to book this fantastic home.
Our party of 7 including 3 small kids stayed here for 5 days and did day trips to Golden Circle, South Coast and Reykjavík. Perfect location from everything. We also swam at the Selfoss city pool which the kids loved. We shopped at the local Bonus for groceries and fixed all our meals to save time and money. We loved the hot tub at the house! Highly recommend. Host was very responsive!
This home has everything needed for the perfect Iceland vacation. Clean, spacious, and stocked. Close to lots of things to do and a doable drive to even more. Don't miss all the amazing things to do right in Hveragerdi.
We had the best time at Kristin's home in Hveragerði! The home was absolutely beautiful- the views from the kitchen/living room were absolutely stunning. We traveled with my parents who are in the late 70s/early 80s and the house was perfectly laid out both in terms of giving us separate spaces, and also for my mother who has a disability. So much ease of access to all rooms, to the beautiful patio, and also to the shower! The location couldn't be more perfect- we were able to see all of the south of Iceland, easily with in a 30 minute to 1.5 hour drive, depending on our destination. We loved being close to Reykjavik (it took about 40 minutes to get there), but really loved our little town more. So much to do in all directions, and so much peace at the end of the day. It could not have been a better stay. Kristin is also a very easily accessible, helpful host. Thank you so much!
This place was amazing! We had 7 adults and everyone had plenty of room (it could easily accommodate more). I loved the open floor concept so the people cooking could still watch TV and interact with the group. We saw the northern lights twice, both from the hot tub in the middle of the night. The rest of the time the weather didn’t cooperate. The host was amazing and even let us check in a little early. I definitely recommend this place!
Lovely, spacious and comfortable home with a beautiful view and nice hot tub!
Kristin was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The home itself had anything and everything needed including a nice size washer and dryer with detergent provided which was really nice on our long trip. The view was stunning and the home was very spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about this property. It has a wonderful location. We were close enough to town to enjoy restaurants and grocery stores, but remote enough to go hiking from the yard and enjoy nature. It was clean, well-appointed, and Kristin the owner, was wonderful. The drive to the national park and the crater wasn’t long at all. We experienced a lot of rain during our stay which made the sights difficult, however it was great to come home to a warm home at the end of the day. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it.

Perfect home for exploring South Iceland
We loved staying in this beautiful home! It was clean, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The location was perfect - close to town, but private with beautiful surroundings. We loved all the trails that were easily accessible from the house. We were a family of six - five adult siblings traveling with our eighty-eight year old mom, and found that we had plenty of room for all of us. Mom enjoyed resting at home, reading books and watching the river while we hiked to Reykjadalur and soaked in the bathing river. We highly recommend this beautiful home and the area in which it resides.

Amazing House in the country!
We had 4 adults and two kids and we love, love loved this place. The house was spacious and very well appointed and decorated. The main "great room" was perfect for the kids and adults to hang out and unwind, and since the house was large no one ever felt on top of each other.
The location was great. Right down the street from the community thermal pool. We bought a 10 pass ticket and ended each day with a swim and dip in the hot tub.
Overall, A++++ all around.

A fantastic Family holiday!
Approached the house with excitement and it was just beautiful. The scenery from the house and the surroundings were lovely. The rooms were done up well and with taste. We felt home to home immediately. Cannot fault anything. there was a lot of information for local visits, well equipped kitchen (well impressed!) and games/books you name it. After a lousy previous experience with VRBO house this place has really restored our faith back! Highly recommend this place...

Thank you very much I am glad you enjoyed our house and the surroundings.
Our 9-person family had a wonderful stay in Kristin's beautiful riverside home. It was well furnished with everything we needed. The location -- on a quiet street just north of Hvergerdi town and adjacent to several outstanding walking trails -- and beautiful views of the river were highlights. We also used the hot tub several times at the end of our day trips around Iceland.
Hvergerdi is an ideal location to base yourself for day trips across the amazing sights in Southwest Iceland. For example: 1 hr drive to Geysir / Thingvellir, 40 min to Reykjavik, 2 hours to South Coast sights, 3 hours to Snaefellsness, 4 hours to Glacier Lagoon / Diamond Beach.
Kristin was readily available to help with our questions and needs. An outstanding property and outstanding host!

This house is all that its very friendly and helpful owner, Kristín, promises—and more! We (four adults and four kids) stayed there for a week in late October, and we couldn’t have had a better time. The house is a lot more spacious than it looks from the outside; the through-the-floor heating keeps it nice and warm; the many large windows are well insulated; the kitchen and bathrooms are state-of-the-art; and enough extra mattresses, comforters, pillows, and sheets are available to adjust sleeping arrangements as needed. There are plenty of guidebooks and other books, magazines, games, and toys to keep everyone happy during a long fall (or winter) evening, and the terrace, which wraps around the house, is ideal for the summer. Kristín gave us helpful travel tips and spot-on driving directions prior to our arrival, and as soon as we got there, she offered even more advice. The house is beautifully and very conveniently located. An Olympic-size geothermal pool is just down the road, and the major sights of southwestern Iceland (Þingvellir and Lake Þingvallavatn, Laugarvatn, Geysir, Gullfoss, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, the Mýrdalsjökull and Sólheimajökull glaciers, the black beach of Vík í Mýrdal) are all just a couple of hours’ drive away. You can be in downtown Reykjavík in forty-five minutes. Hveragerði itself is quite lovely and has everything we needed—a Bónus supermarket, a bakery, a gas station, a Vínbúð. A larger supermarket is one town over, in Selfoss. We couldn’t recommend this vacation rental more!

Iceland Heaven
Our family of 4 spent 9 amazing days in Iceland. The house was in a great location for exploring this beautiful country. The house was just wonderful. It was warm, comfortable, spacious, and fully stocked. Kristin, the owner, was very helpful. There was a Bonus grocery store less than 5 minutes away. The town of Hveragerdi is so cute. It is nestled in a geothermal area, so there is a pool you can swim in, and a great hike up to a hot spring you can soak in. There are even boardwalks and changing areas up at the hot spring. Varma is a great place to have dinner. We spent a fun night at the Blue Lagoon which is about 90 minutes away. We did the Golden Circle Tour. Gullfoss is a unique and powerful waterfall. We drove to Vik which is about 2 hours away. There are waterfalls everywhere along the way. The ones not to be missed are Seljalandsfoss, which you can walk behind, Gljufurarbui which is a few hundred yards away, and the grand Skogafoss. Vik has black sand beaches, and nearby there are the basalt columns, and puffins. We took the ferry another day to Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands.) There is an incredible museum on Heimaey that tells the story of the volcanic eruption in 1973. We also hiked the rim of the volcanic crater. You can still feel the heat. We drove 4 hours to Glacier Lagoon. Unfortunately, it was a very cloudy rainy day, but despite that, the Lagoon is surreal. The next day we did a glacier hike at Skaftafell. This was a definite highlight of our trip. The black and white of the glacier like being in another world. For a different adventure, take a flight up to Grimsey Island. You will be rewarded with a certificate stating you crossed the Arctic Circle! I don't know of another country where you can see waterfalls, green mountains, glaciers, volcanos, beaches and lava fields all in one day. The unspoiled natural beauty if Iceland is something that must be preserved, respected, and cherished. There is so much more we would love to see, and we hope to return again in the future. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!!
Host was very communicative, and flexible on check-in / check out. Everything was as promised and the place was even nicer than the photos led us to expect.
We chose this house for the size and proximity to specific sites we wanted to visit. The house had many extras that made it feel like home. The location of the home was perfect. It was central to the area we wanted to visit, from Vik to Reykjavik to the Fagradalsfjall Volcano to the Gulfoss Waterfall. There's also a grocery store in town to grab snacks for the drive or purchase food to fix at the house. Don't forget about the bakery. It opens early and is a nice treat, as well.
Iceland was stunning and the cabin really topped off our experience. We could have stayed for sooo much longer, and will definitely return to the cabin in the future.
I wanted to find a house for the week for my family to explore Iceland outside of Reykjavik. Hveragerdi was the perfect location as it is only 30 to 40 minutes from Reykjavik, and right in the middle of the golden circle. It was also just under a 2-hour drive to Vik and all that little town has to offer. The house met all of our expectations, was comfortable, and extremely private. Hveragerdi is also a nice little town with plenty of restaurants and the new "Greenhouse" that has shops, food, and drinks.
Kristin was an excellent host and was quick to respond to any questions.
This property was amazing - photos don’t do it justice - it felt much larger than the photos. It was the perfect home base for a family trip. The hot spring river trail was amazing. Very nice town, lots of choices for eating out, or getting food to prepare in. I will definitely recommend Kristins property to anyone who is looking to do a trip to Iceland.
Beautiful and well appointed home close to some of the most popular attractions in Iceland. Beds and linens were comfortable and neighborhood was dark (for the northern lights) and quiet. Hot tub was a big hit and there is a river babbling through the back yard. Steam is rising from fissures all around which was so unique. Five stars all around.
This home was wonderful. Large enough for two familues of four. Centrally located with easy access to to Reykjavik and the Golden Circle. Comfortable, clean, well stocked. Very private location with easy access to walking trails and town. Thank you so much Kristin for the hospatality.
