This property was a fantastic spot for two families to enjoy rafting, bridge walk, and hiking in the new river gorge region. We especially loved the pool! Excellent kitchen and comfortable beds and seating. Highly recommend!

Fantastic location and beautiful property

This property is fantastic! We had kids who enjoyed the outside area and the loft was a perfect hangout for them! The inside of the house is a great setup for a large group with a fully stocked kitchen! Being on the runway was so fun and exciting watching the planes take off and land! The pool was so clean and well kept! The owners were so kind and very responsive to any questions! Highly recommend!!! We will definitely be back:)

Great spot for family reunion

We're locals that rented this for more room and a congregating spot for a family reunion. It was the perfect location for kids to play and family to reconnect. The pool deck was perfect for kids fun, and the open kitchen/living room worked well for late night family get togethers. Highly recommended!

Great stay visiting New River Gorge

We had a great stay with our family plus friends visiting New River Gorge. The house was clean and plenty of space for our party of 8. We all loved the pool and the hot tub, as well as the proximity to the hiking and adventures we wanted to do while here. My boys particularly loved watching the bi-plane planes take off!

Perfect Stay for New River Gorge

The Aviator’s Lounge is the perfect spot to discover the New River. We had two families with kids of 13, 12, 11, 10 and 6 staying and it never felt crowded. We also did multiple family reunion dinners with two more families staying at a separate place nearby and it was the perfect hosting spot with a giant kitchen, pool, hot tub, and pirate playhouse. It is centrally located to New River Gorge NP and just minutes away from Fayetteville. No complaints and the owners are great people who allowed our kids to see their biplane. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Wild and wonderful week!

We had an amazing week at the Aviator’s Lounge. The property is very neat…beautifully styled interior and peaceful outside space with a pool and patio overlooking a serene small air strip. The kids in our group thought the owners had found the most comfortable couches on the planet and the adults enjoyed the well appointed kitchen and beautiful bathrooms. There is a nice gas station just a few soots down and that was a big hit for extra snacks and treats. The pool had so much patio furniture, everyone was always very comfortable enjoying that space! We had our schedule packed with adventures each morning - white water rafting, bridge walk, and kayaking Summersville Lake. This house was perfect for whipping up large breakfasts before our outings and lounging about inside and outside when we were done for the day! We would have loved a bathroom on the ground floor but we managed fine without it, too. The hosts were very accessible to us for any concerns, as well. It was a bucket list trip and this was the perfect place to call home for the week!

Our family loves airport life. Flying is such an integral part of our lives and we love sharing that with others in a unique way!

Although you do not have to be a pilot to stay at the Aviator's Lounge, it is located at the historic, private Fayette Airport. Fayetteville is the gateway to the New River Gorge. The New River Gorge offers numerous whitewater rafting and fishing opportunities on the New River. The Gorge area is also home to world-class rock climbing, mountain biking and endless trails for hiking. Nearby is the Summit Bechtel Boy Scout Reserve, where both the National and International Jamborees are held. Summersville Lake offers swimming, boating and diving escapes. An easy highway drive, WinterPlace ski resort provides a great winter activity.

What makes this property unique

Fayette Airpark is a small private airfield that offers a tranquil and relaxing setting; however, the runway may occasionally be used by local pilots.
Exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, and a well appointed kitchen makes the Aviator's Lounge the perfect basecamp for four season adventures in southern West Virginia. Conveniently located just off of Rt 19, less than 3 miles to historic downtown Fayetteville, 10 minutes to most attractions within the national park, and an easy highway drive south to WinterPlace ski resort. Beautiful Summersville Lake is 20 miles north.
Guests have access to the private patio, pool and hot tub; as well as the kids pirate ship play set and swings. No other people have access to the pool, hot tub or patio. The pool is open from the beginning of April until the end of October. The hot tub is open year-round.
Please Note: You cannot walk, bike or drive on the runway.
