About this property
Secluded Chester County historic farmhouse and venue
Re-energize and reconnect in this quintessential Chester County farmhouse. The Buck Run Farmhouse was built in 1767 and is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Beautifully situated on over 90 acres of forest and fields for hiking, bird watching, and exploring; Historic Buck Run Farm is the perfect place to retreat to!!
Three story 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home with living room, sunroom, and library. Outdoor spaces include brick-paved dining areas, a SoloStove, a Breeo firepit, and two decks as well as a grill for guest use. For kids we offer some basic sports equipment such as a net, a few assorted balls and some various outdoor games (think corn hole, etc.) The perfect place for a group trip or family reunion!
Guests have access to the entire first and second floor of the house as well as two full-size bedrooms on the third floor with beautiful views overlooking the farm. Guests are asked not to enter the basement or attic spaces. We have mechanical equipment in these locations and they are not intended for guest access.
While guests are welcome to explore the property, it is important to note that parts of the land are actively farmed. We ask that guests are respectful of these areas and recognize that they do not have exclusive access to the outdoor spaces. The house is reserved for guests only unless your group books The Barn for their venue space also.
The barn is off limits to guests without prior permission from Host. We are creating an animal sanctuary over time and welcome guests by appointment (or if you see us out there working feel free to inquire!) www.historicbuckrunfarm.com
We provide a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, a sponge, and several trash bags. If you have any other special needs, by all means give us a call and we're happy to help in any way we can.
Please also know that cell service is very limited. We have great WiFi and calls can occasionally go through when outside the house but you may need to download a texting app to make calls via WiFi.
This house was built in the mid 1700's, it and the land are not easily accessible to persons with disabilities. There are many raised thresholds and narrow doorways as well as very little flat land in the outdoor spaces - all adding to the character of the well-appointed home but not easy for wheelchair access or walkers.
Please be aware: there are Ring video doorbells on the front and back doors as well as monitoring the barn and pond. There are NO internal recording or listening devices. Our newly renovated Barn venue is now open and available for bookings also. For any group gatherings over 25 folks we recommend The Barn at an additional fee.

This was our second stay because our first was so fantastic. This time (a summer stay, our last was over Christmas) we got to enjoy the outdoors! Coffee in the morning on the back patio was just serene, we loved walking the property and watching the wildlife and overall just enjoyed the quiet privacy of the setting.

It is a beautiful setting and secluded. The house is huge and all amenities are there. The furnishings are high end. The house is House Beautiful inside and out. The kitchen is fully stocked. It is better than a five star hotel!! It is pet friendly. My Labrador mix was happy!
EVERYTHING was perfect! HIGHLY recommend booking this place. The host is amazing and the place is gorgeous! I rented the barn for my wedding as well and everything looked perfect. I can't say enough as to how wonderful this place is. We will be renting again in the future!!

Thank you Dileep! So glad you all enjoyed! Please come back again! Historic Buck Rhn Farm is always growing and evolving with the Farm Sanctuary continuing to add animals! Take care.
What a wonderful place. Perfect for our family of 9 (7 adults, 2 kids). The property is gorgeous. Well equipped and felt like home. Hosts were incredibly kind and accommodating. We all loved seeing the animals and taking strolls along the vast acreage of the property. We're now looking for future family events to stay here again. Thank you so much!
This house was a lovely spot for family memebers to stay over the Thanksgiving weekend. They all loved the house, amenities and the views! Also, can't beat walking to a great local market for treats and necessities!
We loved our stay! The house has so much charm and was very cozy in the winter. The grounds around the house are beautiful and wonderful for walking, sitting on the patio or enjoying the view from the window. The kitchen was fully stocked and great for cooking. And the beds and living rooms were cozy and perfect for relaxing. It’s the perfect house for a big group. We can’t wait to come back!
Wow!!!! Such a beautiful and peaceful property. Everything you need. My bed was so comfortable. We were in the area attending our son’s wedding and staying in such a relaxing and huge place made the busy weekend relaxing. Very gracious hosts.. we will definitely stay again when visiting

Thank you! It was a pleasure to have you all. Glad the family enjoyed the farm animals also. You all are welcome back to Historic Buck Run Farm anytime. Take care.
We had an amazing time at buck run. The property is beautiful, the house is gorgeous and very well stocked, and the hostess was easy to communicate with.
Definitely worth what you pay!
Group of business professionals traveling for work. 5 people were able to share this amazing property for really comparable rates to a chain hotel price. The venue was amazing, we really found the place very comfortable even for business travel. Plenty of space for us all to work in different rooms. Convenient to good food and surrounding areas.” Thank you!
Truly one of the best VRBOs I’ve ever stayed in. The house and grounds are immaculate. The owners hav done a brilliant job remodeling a historic home without losing the unique nature of the home itself. The patios and landscaping were truly an A+. Well stocked with everything I needed! Will def be back again!
Our adult children and grands joined us at this amazing farmhouse to celebrate our milestone 70th birthdays and to renew our wedding vows at the farmhouse. It was pure magic and the perfect setting for everyone ages 3-70 years—something special for everyone here to enjoy! The special touches, thoughtfulness and surprises from the owner Laurie just added to the warmth and charm of this fabulous stunningly beautiful country retreat! Can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed having you all! Please come back again!! Things are always changing at Historic Buck Run Farm!!!
We rented the farmhouse as a base for visiting family back home over Christmas week, and it was like living in a Hallmark Christmas movie house. Absolutely beautiful, incredibly private, tastefully decorated for Christmas, and stocked with anything you could ever possibly need (and more!). One thing that made the week a success for our 3-generation group was the layout: my elderly parents got the master bedroom/bath, my husband & I and teenage kids took the other "half" of the upstairs. Between this feature and the two separate living spaces on opposite sides of the first floor, this was absolutely ideal for grandparents who go to bed at 8 vs the college kids staying up til 2 :). Only wish we could've enjoyed the outdoors more- this would be a lovely summer rental too. Then again, I enjoyed hiding out from the snow and ice in the library and could've spent a week just enjoying all the books. Just wonderful.

Katherine and family - thank you so much for the lovely review. We are so grateful to be able to share this magical property with wonderful folks such as yourselves. Please come back!!! Happy New Year.
We (3 friends) stayed at this beautiful farmhouse for a long weekend get away and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. The home is lovingly and beautifully decorated and it is so well- appointed. It was just perfect - anything we needed was there and we could not have been more comfortable - from the luxurious beds to the lovely sitting rooms and outdoor spaces.
We chose the home for its proximity to Longwood Gardens, where we spent a wonderful afternoon touring the beautiful grounds. We'd all recommend both the farmhouse and the gardens at Longwood (although the farmhouse has quite beautiful gardens and landscaping as well).

We had the most wonderful stay. Fireplaces in every bedroom, this house is truly historic. The owner did not miss a thing when designing the rooms… details are immaculate and so thoughtful. From the decor to the linens and towels, all superb. Coffee and creamer, fish food for the pond, rocks to paint…first class. These on top of the fact that you are staying on a real farm with live animals that you can feed! As well as a gorgeous event barn on the property if you want to host more people (separate fee). Within a mile is a pizza shop that has ridiculously good pizza and a market as well. The owner was wonderful to work with. We will return again the next time we are visiting this area 100%! Highly recommend.
The property was absolutely beautiful! It was well maintained and had an amazing garden. We love sitting out back watching the deer. The house was so cool. Everyone loved it. The only minor problem was that the listing said there was a common room with 2 twin beds but there wasn’t. Someone had to sleep on the couch but it was not a big deal. I would definitely recommend this house.
Both sides of our family were getting together to celebrate my son's first birthday. We were all wowed by the house and the property. The kitchen had all types of utensils, and bathtooms were stovked with all you needed. The structure of the animal sanctuary to come is impressive too. Lots of space, bedrooms, and amenities. We'd love to reunite there again. We went to the Sight & Sound theaters too. Highly recommend checking that out. And Megan, the host is very responsive. Loved it
Everything about this property was superb: an historic farmhouse that has been updated and cared for; spotlessly clean; in a beautiful setting on a working farm, with every modern convenience you could ask for. The owners communicated with us and answered every question we had immediately! A bad storm had hit the area a couple of days before and they kept us informed on the storm's impacts - the house was thankfully undamaged. A beautiful and welcoming kitchen with every convenience became the gathering spot for our family get together. We'll never forget the lovely weekend in Chester County PA. Wish I could give this review more stars!

Thank you so much Bob. You and your guests were fabulous too! Enjoyed the house and property and left everything in great shape! SO grateful we weren’t damaged from the storm and got power back! Welcome you back anytime! (We will have a generator working soon!). Take care.
This home would be lovely enough even without the context of an almost magical farm setting. The home has numerous sitting rooms and a library, allowing everyone a place to retreat individually or in small groups, perfect for a large family holiday. The furnishings are perfect and well chosen, and the owner is thoughtful enough to leave peanuts and carrots to feed the goats, sheep, and horses. I wouldn't change a thing. Two bedrooms are on the third floor, three bedrooms on the second with two full bathrooms. One sitting room o the ground floor looks convertible to a sleep space, with another full bathroom. Given that it's an old farmhouse, the comforts are as modern as one could expect.

Thank you Denise! It was lovely to have you and your family! Please come back again!!!
We have an annual girls' trip and this is the first time we are seriously considering a return trip because the house is just so amazing. One of the best-appointed rentals we've been to with lots of cozy shared spaces, and happily situated on a little pond with koi. The host was quick to respond to questions and requests. A friend or family holiday here would be lovely!
Fun things nearby include Kennett Square (great shopping and The Creamery beer garden), Longwood Gardens, and the Brandywine Museum. We also really loved The Whip Tavern for brunch.
[Just a note that there are a lot of tall, narrow stairs so perhaps not the best location for folks with mobility challenges unless you ask the host to set up a twin bed in one of the common areas on the first floor.]
I rented this house for a reunion of college friends. We were in the area for the Tough Mudder, Philly. The house and landscaping is breathtaking! This is by far the best rental house I have ever stayed at! The owner has clearly devoted time/love into the property. We had anything and everything at this rental. Plenty of paper products, all the kitchen supplies, outdoor fire pits and heaters. There entire house had a welcoming theme. This property was spotless! If we are ever in the area for our annual rebuild we would love to stay at this property again! We loved it so much….no one wanted to leave! Note to potential renter: RENT THIS FARMHOUSE! You will be so happy you!!

Hello! My name is Laurie. Me, Charlotte, Bobby and Pam are the folks you may see around the farm (as well as Jamie farming the fields!) We are so pleased to be able to share this bucolic property with guests. Historic Buck Run Farm is a constantly changing work in progress. Our long term vision is to have family gatherings, weddings, team building, community and children enjoying the land and learning all it has to offer as well as enjoying various farm animal interactions. Please take caution and use common sense when exploring the property. Please stay OUT of the animal pens. If you see us feel free to ask questions and we will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests. The health and safety of our animals and land come as a priority - along with guests’ health and safety. Thank you.
Why they chose this property
Built in 1767 the farmhouse is older than the United States of America. It is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. The house is incredibly unique with many of its original features found alongside beautiful modern amenities. Situated on 92 acres, you'll find peace and tranquillity in abundance here.
What makes this property unique
Historic Buck Run Farm is unique in itself. It is but one slice of this earth and we are grateful to be able to share its rolling hills, creeks, spring fed pond and pastures with guests. We love it here and hope you can experience why!
