Kealakekua

The house was perfect for our group. There’s plenty of room for a large group and we loved staying in south Kona which is quieter than Kailua. The owner was very friendly and available. I loved the area and the house has a large screened lanai around the house which was perfect to see the daily rainbows. It was perfect

Family Vacay

What a beautiful property! Beautiful views! Candi, the host, couldn't have been more helpful. The home was as described and had more than advertised. We had Chef Brad prepare a dinner for us and it was really good. The location is not really walkable to anything as the roads are narrow with no sidewalks or space for pedestrians. Car dependent but everything you need is within a 10 - 15 minute drive. We totally recommend this amazing place.Thank you again for sharing your home with us.

10 days of paradise

4 couples in this trip. The property is perfect for this kind of group. Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own bathroom and shower. The kitchen and living area is large and open creating a great meeting area. The screened in deck makes a relaxing area with plenty of furniture on all sides making a book reading get away easy. The pool in the midst of a beautiful landscaped yard was the icing on the cake. Candi was great checking in on us and letting us know we could call if anything was needed.

Kona Vacation

My family and I stayed here for 11 days in January 2023 (10 of us, total). Overall it was a positive experience and we would recommend it. Pros: 1. The view is incredible! 2. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, essential when traveling in large groups. 3. The pool was fantastic! 4. Candi, the host, was great. Cons: 1. There were a million tiny ants in the kitchen and bathrooms. We had to throw away food left on the counter that became infested (cereal, chips, crackers). We learned our lesson and stored everything either in the fridge, in ziplocks, or in bowls/containers with lids. 2. We understand it's a big property, but it really wasn't very clean. Things to Know: 1. There's no A/C. This wasn't ever a problem for us, but it didn't get very hot during our stay. There were plenty of fans to keep the air moving. 2. It's a 25 minute drive to Kona for shopping/dining.

Great property

Our second time staying here. Great location, it is quite rural but surprisingly central. There are groceries and restaurants just a few minutes away. It is close to snorkeling at Kahuluu Beach, a two Step, Kealakekua Bay and Hookena a beach. You do need vehicles to get to amenities and destinations. The property itself is gorgeous and caretaker Candi wonderful to deal with. The pool is a wonderful bonus. Perfect setup for an extended family getaway.

We had the privilege of staying in this stunning home nestled within a private estate, and it was an unforgettable experience. The property is expansive, boasting five spacious bedrooms and six bathrooms, making it perfect for large groups or families. The pool and games room were a big hit and the outdoor ping pong table added an extra layer of fun to our days. The highlight, however, was the enormous screened veranda, which provided the perfect space for relaxation while being immersed in the natural beauty of the island. Whether sipping coffee during sunrise or unwinding at sunset, the views were absolutely breathtaking. The kitchen was spacious, well-equipped, and designed to accommodate multiple chefs with ease. Preparing meals here was a joy, and we loved the option of dining either in the dining room or outdoors in the screened porch, where the ambiance was both serene and inviting. The home's design is a perfect blend of traditional Hawaiian architecture with a modern twist, resulting in a space that feels both authentic and luxurious. Every detail, from the thoughtful layout to the tasteful décor, contributed to the overall charm of the property. We were pleased that Candi, the estate caretaker, reached out well in advance to provide detailed directions to the estate. If you're looking for a place to unwind in comfort and style while enjoying all that Big Island has to offer, this home is an exceptional choice. Highly recommended! 🌺

Fantastic home and view!

The house was so spacious and gave our family a WOW moment when we arrived. The property setting is a beautiful garden and the views of the valley and ocean are spectacular! We spent most of our time on the screened wrap around porch just loving the breeze and view. The pool was a perfect size. The location gave us quiet and privacy while being close to everything we needed. Our hostess greeted us as we came and made sure everything was perfect. She was charming and helpful both during our stay and when we were planning the trip and gave us great local tips. We wanted a special place since we were celebrating our 50th anniversary and this was really the special place of lifetime memories. Mahalo to our Hostess.

Gorgeous property

We enjoyed the breathtaking views and the expansive living areas. Maka Nui is beautifully designed with plenty of spaces for both togetherness and solitude. The kitchen is seemlessly connected to one of the living rooms, making a perfect setting for cooking together and socializing. The house has so many comfortable yet luxurious spots to lounge, converse, and take in the view. We really did not want to leave. The location was perfect for us. It is close to so much but secluded and peaceful. We really appreciated Candi's hospitality and the mangoes were literally falling from the tree!

Super Lanai with incredible views

Family of 8 (6 adults + children 9 & 11) enjoyed week stay at this large and inviting house with swimming pool, lots of parking and space for kids to play. Spent most of our time on the upper level with large & well equipped kitchen, large sitting room (TV worked well) and master suite. Ate family meals on the huge, wrap-around, screened lanai that also had lots of lounging areas plus bar fridge that was convenient. Overall an excellent choice for our family. Would mention, though, that lower-level bathrooms were tired (water pressure could be improved too) and in need of upgrade to match rest of house. Small disappointment was condition of pingpong paddles - only 3 were serviceable so we purchased a new one.

Aloha , as the caretaker of Maka Nui of which I am privileged to do. I have been on property for 31 years & lived on the Big Island for 33 So feel free to call with any questions you might have & I would be happy to help.

Why they chose this property

Maka Nui is country but close enough (15-20 minutes) to night life . It has all the stores to get supplies here & great restaurants so we get the best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique

First are the mascots Frick & Frack (dogs) They love to meet new folks as is always a chance to get treats! Then the sounds of birds & palms rustling in the breeze. Of course the pool & fruits are always a plus! And we are always around to answer any questions. As the pool /gardeners & coffee workers there is always something to do.
