About this property

1932 Charming Cottage at the Lake

ATV or snowmobile from the driveway to trails 4 blocks away. LOCATION! LOCATION! Street dead ends in front of the house and becomes short pathway to one of the largest sandy beaches of Lake Superior. 1932 cottage has been restored and renovated including 28 new blinds and a newly carpeted upstairs 400 sq ft open living and sleeping area with new bathroom overlooking the habitat of trees that separate the house from the big Lake. There are two main bedrooms upstairs and downstairs. The pleasant front porch can be used as a third bedroom with separate entrance. The couch is also a pulled out queen size bed. The 1932 hardwood maple floors have been restored on main floor and bathroom has been renovated but original tub with shower remains. The Adjacent downstairs bedroom has sliding glass doors to a small patio overlooking the side yard firepit and peekaboo lake views. Dining room table comfortably seats 8 and plenty of dishware in china cabinets. Enjoy the large new rear deck and step down and build a fire in the side yard firepit while you barbeque or make a fire on the beach while watching the sunset. Our kitchen is fully equipped. The basement has washer and dryer. There is a section that we store a bed which is not used as a bedroom. Stay up late and you may see the Northern Lights. 125 foot driveway that ends at alley for alternate exit, plenty of room to park cars, trucks, ATVs and snowmobiles, direct access to trails from the house. Walk on the beach or drive to Township Park one mile away. Take a 5 minute stroll to Main Street (River Street) and stop at famous Syl's cafe, Krist gas station/minimart, shops, Stubbs Museum bar, etc. Ontonagon River is 4 blocks away where you can fish, kayak, rent a pontoon or boat. Waterfalls are nearby and the largest state park the Porcupine Mountains including the Lake of the Clouds where fall colors are spectacular is a 25 minute drive. Lake of the Clouds was featured on September 24, 2022 when USA Today announced the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as the 2022 1st Best Destination for Fall Foliage in the US. In the winter, take advantage of lake effect snowfall. Why trailer your snowmobile when you can sled to the trails from a 125' driveway. Location! Location! Ski the Porkies 20 minutes away.

This place was perfect. Right on the beach, which is a very private access point. Wooded area shields the wind and sand blowing in off the lake. Fire pit out back under the trees couldn't be better. Stars are amazing. House is perfect. Not missing a thing!! For us it was much better than some of the rustic cabin resorts near by that I almost booked before i saw this place. Thanks for a very memorable stay!!

This location was awesome. Literally steps from the beach. The only drawback is that the 3rd bedroom listed is almost unusable because it’s in a dark corner of the basement. I LOVED the top level bedroom and bathroom. The basement bedroom was the only surprise of our stay.

I am so sorry for the confusion. In the description of the property, we describe that the third bedroom was the front porch which can be turned into a bedroom. The couch can be converted to a size bed. I also sent a welcome not to let me know if anything we can do to make your stay more pleasant. We didn’t hear anything back so we thought everything went well.
