The Inn offers a soul-restoring escape to the breathtaking Gila National Forest and Wilderness. Whether you're looking for a romantic get-away or a place for a family reunion or large gathering... our quaint little Inn-like motel is a lovely place to land. This cozy 7-unit motel is a sweet little stay close to Lake Roberts.
Please note that this is a motel room suite with a kitchen. Open floor plan, no interior walls other than around the bathroom.
We give our guests full privacy, but are available if needed via messaging . There is no cell service in the secluded little valley that the motel sits in, but you can utilize WiFi calling by enabling your phone for such. We are located just a couple of miles up the road and can help with any issues. Please let us know if there is anything you need or if something on the property needs our attention.
Great location in the quiet community of Lake Roberts. Walking distance from Lake Roberts General Store. Keep in mind that the General Store is limited as to what they stock. You can count on candy, snacks, soda, and beer. :-) Lake Roberts is just over the hill for phenomenal Bass and Trout fishing, kayaking, or canoeing.
This is a central location to what the Gila has to offer. Close to Lake Roberts, 20 minutes to Gila Hot Springs; 25-30 minutes to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Close by trails to hike and ride are far too many to list!
In addition to your room/suite, all guests have shared access to the lit social pavilion for grilling and "hanging out" as well as the Fire Pit circle during non-wildfire season.
Comfortable suite at the Lake Roberts Motel will give you easy access to hiking in the Gila National Forest and Wilderness; fishing at Lake Roberts; soaking at the Gila Hot Springs; or exploring the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Our grilling/social pavilion offers a nice space to meet with friends, or cuddle with you partner on the sectional sofas around one of the fire pits for a romantic evening.
This suite offers an apartment-sized kitchen with a small gas stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, sink, dishes, pots/pans, utensils (cooking & eating). The dining table seats 4 comfortably.
Sleeping arrangements include a King bed and a Full futon.
The nearest large airports are El Paso TX (3-hour drive) and Tucson AZ (4-hour drive). However, there is a small airline (AdvancedAirlines.com) that flies into Grant County Airport in Silver City from Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Los Angeles at a very reasonable rate. Rental Cars are available at the Grant County Airport through Silver Car Rental at 575-574-2350 (must reserve in advance).
Grant County Airport is about 1 hour from the Lake Roberts Motel.
The motel is located on "The Trail of the Mountain Spirits Scenic Byway". If coming from Silver City, you'll take Highway 15 to Highway 35. If coming from Mimbres, you'll come in on Highway 35 passing Lake Roberts to arrive at the motel.
Please take note that this is a fairly remote location. You will need to bring food, as the nearest grocery store is almost an hour drive (Silver City). The closest restaurant is about 20 minutes away (The Log Cabin).
Cell service: There is NO cell service at the Inn without logging into the WiFi. So make sure you print out instructions including the WiFi information and door code. You can connect to the motel WiFi from the parking lot if necessary. There is a T-mobile tower a few miles west of the motel and T-mobile phones can get service about 2 miles west on Hwy 35.
Summer Heat: At this time there is no A/C in the rooms. We've been on the waiting list for 2 years for a power upgrade so we can add A/C. The entire area must be upgraded first (the transformers, poles, and wires). In the meantime, we do supply fans and most of the time our mountain nights are cool enough to draw that air into the rooms. If you tend to be a hot sleeper, you may want to visit in the spring, fall, or winter. Our hottest time is generally June until the monsoons hit in July.
Inclement winter weather: please note that Highway 15 and Highway 35 are not plowed on weekends and evenings. It is rare that we get enough snow to block roads, but we are in the mountains and it can happen. Please watch the forecast for Lake Roberts, NM leading up to your stay.

Perfect base for adventuring
We always choose outdoor vacations, and really value a home base where we can make meals, have room for gear, and enjoy some quiet. This cabin is practical, comfortable, and nicely appointed. From local spots like the lake to places like the cliff dwellings, the location was excellent. Highly recommend!

Review Inn at lake Roberts
We had a fantastic time at the Inn at Lake Roberts. The room was incredibly comfortable and spotless, making it easy to relax and unwind. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed to prepare and clean up meals, which made our stay even more convenient. It's clear that a lot of attention to detail went into making sure guests have everything they need for a comfortable experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-appointed getaway!
Adorable lodge. Great kitchenette for our morning breakfast before heading out to the lake and mountains. Kitchen allowed us to make our favorite evening meals after a day out exploring. Comfortable bed and cozy propane fireplace kept us toasty warm. Outdoor fire pit and club chairs were a great place to ring in the new year!

Good stay
Very clean and great shower. Furniture could use an update...bed and futon. Kitchen is adequate for very simple meals but not for serious cooking.
We had a a wonderful time staying at Lake Roberts over Christmas! The wilderness setting and surrounding landscapes were amazing. Our room was cozy, comfortable and artfully decorated. The staff could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend. And the nighttime sky was filled with more stars than this city-dweller had ever seen!

Quiet Clean Friendly
Having visited the National forest years ago I decided to stay closer to the places I was interested in, rather than traveling from Silver City or even further away. Being able to base from here enabled longer visits to the park and the various locations we visited. This place was quiet clean and the staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. The rooms are well decorated and amenities were plentiful. Thank you to all who made my visit all the more enjoyable!

lovely room, comfortable and homey
We stayed here once before, last year. The room has a full-size refrigerator, a small stove, and a sink. It is furnished with dishes, pots and pans, soap and towels, olive oil, salt, pepper, coffee and fixins. We love the gas fireplace! It warms the room just right. Absolutely you will love this room. Check in and out was very easy (Is a VRBO-like room so you get a code for the door)
we will certainly stay in the same room in the future.

Sweet place
Overall a sweet place to stay. I really want to give it 5 stars. I am giving 4 only because the noise between rooms is not well contained. I was able to hear the conversations of the people in the room next to ours, who were talking at a normal volume, without trying to listen. Otherwise a sweet place to stay in an excellent location.

Cozy Stay
This is located right next to the general store and minutes away from the lake. It has all the basic necessities (iron, blow dryer, pots/pan, utensils, extra bedding and towels). Cooling is only open windows and some small fans, that was tough for a woman who has hot flashes, lol. At night I sat right outside for some fresh air. We did have an ant problem when we arrived but the property manager provided some wonderfully scented bug spray & we were good from there. We went right in the middle of summer, raining, heat: to be expected. Would stay here again.

Nice Couple's Getaway
We enjoyed celebrating our one year anniversary at the Inn! Owner and staff were super amiable and accommodating. We really appreciated their Country Store with homemade ice cream, the shaded outdoor grilling area, being able to stream Netflix, having the kitchenette for cooking, being able to drive to the lake in only a couple minutes, and having our dog with us. The "contactless" check-in and check-out processes were quick and easy. For those seeking solitude (like we were) a week-day stay might be best; the Inn sits right on the main access road to the lake, across from the Volunteer Fire Station and Rescue and next door to the local General Store, and there was significant vehicle / tourist activity and noise over the weekend. Monday morning was more peaceful, so thinking we'll probably visit during the week next time.

Door issues
At one point, I got locked out of the room and had to crawl through the window to unlock the door. Thankfully, I have my tools and fix the door knob. Other than that it was fantastic.!!!
