About this property

The Treehouse - a Romantic Russian River Retreat

Come relax and unwind in a tranquil cabin in the trees. Located just a mile from downtown Guerneville near the idyllic Russian River, this charming hillside cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat, an outdoor adventure, or working on that novel you've been meaning to write. You truly feel away from it all in this peaceful setting with stunning forest views. Simple vintage furnishings and a lack of distracting technological amenities allow you to enjoy the quiet curled up on the couch in front of a fire or lounging on the spacious, private deck with outdoor shower. Take a short stroll to the neighborhood river access beach, or explore the many wineries, restaurants, hiking trails and antique shops in the surrounding area.

Built in the 1930s as a summer getaway, the cabin was beautifully crafted from local redwood trees with a number of delightful details that make it unique. The lower level has a cozy bedroom with a built-in full size bed. The bathroom has a tiled floor and a redwood shower. Exit the lower level to go up the stairs to the upper level, which has a spacious open living, dining and kitchen area. The living area has a convertible sofa bed in front of a wood stove. Sit on the stool at the bar while your loved one prepares a meal in the kitchen equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven, utensils, and essential condiments. Enjoy your meal at the dining room table while looking out over the trees from the giant picture windows.

****PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING****
Please read this description thoroughly, as well as traveler reviews, to ensure our cabin is the right fit for your traveling style and expectations. This is a homey, unpolished cabin in the woods. Those who love peace and quiet and rustic getaways from modernity LOVE our place, don't mind the stair workout to get there, and keep coming back. Please read on for important things of note:

Kids and pets are welcome at your own risk as there are no child safe railings along the stairs on the path and no completely fenced-in area for dogs. The cabin is on a quarter-acre of wooded land on a hill. There are about 85 steps from the parking area to the cabin, so it is definitely not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for the elderly or those with knee problems. The privacy on the hill is worth the trek!

Due to its lack of central heating and insulation, the Treehouse will not be available for rent in December, January, or February.

We've stayed at this property twice, and it's our absolute favorite. A must if you need to connect and decompress.

Beautiful ! Magical! Everything was clean and had its touch of home we cannot wait to come back.

We chose this cute little cabin tucked in the trees for our honeymoon. Let us just say it will be something special to us forever. The climb to the house made it that much more exciting to actually see this hidden gem. The string lights were the cutest touch as we had our first nights dinner our in the patio . The fun part was cutting wood with an axe for the wood burning stove :) most of all the eateries that surround this cute little town were awesome. Thank you so much for sharing this special place with us. We can’t wait to come back ! Highly recommended !

Sweet, rustic cabin perfect for weekend getaway

Adding to the numerous positive reviews of this cabin - it was everything we expected. A little cabin tucked among the trees that was the perfect spot for our weekend retreat from city life. It was a cold couple of days but with the wood stove and space heater downstairs, it warmed up nicely. Looking forward to coming back!

Absolutely fantastic

This is the most gorgeous rustic retreat, hidden among the trees. Every single nook and cranny has been painstakingly made. It’s not a 5 star hotel, it’s a beautiful hidden wooden cabin complete with outside shower, wood burning stove and about 50 steps up to give it the look and feel of a tree house. We loved it!

Relaxing Retreat

The treehouse was located very close to the town of Guerenville, but it felt like we were alone in the woods! It was very relaxing and we loved our stay. Chimmy was also very helpful throughout the whole reservation and check-in process. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful, cozy cabin!

We had a wonderful stay at this cute, cozy cabin! The nights get a bit cold, so the space heaters throughout the rooms were a nice touch. There are a lot of stairs, but it's a nice little workout with a great reward at the top!

Nice place but the steps leading up to cabin are a bit too much.

Overall not bad, place needs some TLC. The steps are very steep and lots of them. The cabin is up there in the trees which obstruct a lot of your views. I would probably not rent this place again just due to the fact that it was tricky watching your step while lugging up and down our stuff.

Rustic, fun stay at the tree house. Paper towels and napkins would be a nice addition.

Lovely cottage tucked away in the trees!

My husband, parents and I spent two nights in this lovely “treehouse”. It was cute, cozy, and rustic; a perfect retreat for us. It has a great kitchen area with all of the essentials and we enjoyed cooking a few meals during our time there. The cottage is quiet and private from its location on the hillside among the trees. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would come back again! Note, if you are sleeping four, there is space downstairs for two in the bed and two upstairs: one on a fold out futon and one on a small couch.

Fun rustic cabin experience!

We knew what to expect with cabin living, and yes, the steps were tiring, but overall a really nice place to stay while exploring the area. We enjoyed the deck and fireplace, and wished we'd had time to try out the outdoor shower. It would have been nice to have a microwave, but there were alternatives like popping popcorn in a pan like I did when I was a kid long ago! We knew there would be no wi-fi, but were told the cell phone reception was excellent although in reality it was spotty/absent for AT&T, so it was difficult communicating with anyone--we were there for a family reunion so it was rough. But overall a nice experience and we'd do it again.

Definitely feels like you’re staying in a treehouse in the Redwoods!

Rustic redwood charm. Old family cabin feel. Cozy. Functional. Good amenities to keep you warm and able to prepare meals. Very private and so peaceful. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. A challenge to get situated but so worth it. A hobbit’s Castle!

Wonderful Stay!!

My Husband and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary here. It was just what we needed. The stairs are crazy, but well worth it. Loved our time here. Just wish we could've stayed longer. Thank you for opening your Treehouse to us.

Cute and cozy AND clean

The Tree House is so cute and cozy. Although not actually perched in a tree, the design of the home amongst the treetops felt as though it were really a tree house. It rained quite hard so we weren’t able to enjoy the outside spaces- but again they were very inviting. We have already talked about booking again. It’s close enough to walk to town during the day but wouldn’t recommend it at night- dark, narrow road. It was a wonderful break and a peaceful place to unplug. The master bed is comfortable and tucked away in a sweet nook on the bottom level. The bathroom is also on the lower level but we didn’t find this to be an issue at all. The stairs leading up to the property are steep and many, but well worth the climb. Pro-tip: limit the amount of stuff you bring- luggage/food -because you will have to lug it up to the house and back down to your car. We would definitely recommend this property to friends. The ocean is about a 20 minute drive but if you choose to drive to Ft. Ross, even though it’s only a few miles further, the drive is on a slow, windy, sketchy at times, road. But the fort is worth seeing and there is tide pooling close by. Dinner at River’s End in Jenner was delish! We sat at the bar but still had an incredible view of the ocean at sunset. The final day of our trip was spent zip lining just 30 minutes away from the house with Sonoma Canopy Tours. A bit pricey, but the adventure was worth every dime. Thank you again to our hosts at the Tree House.

Amazing location, super cozy!

Myself, 2 friends and 3 dogs stayed at the Treehouse for a rainy few days this March. We had an AMAZING time. The location was so great, right between wine country and the coast and with a grocery store 5 minutes away by car. The house was super comfortable and cozy. We loved having the wood stove going to heat up the place. I had such a great time I booked another weekend at the Treehouse for later this year.

Quiet, clean, sylvan

Exciting to stay in a tree house with graceful, fun touches. The water was a bit sulfurous while we were there --bring bottled water for coffee. Great views, tasty meals nearby, and a woodstove!

Great getaway.

Beautiful cabin tucked away in the trees. Loved that we could feel the 1930’s origins in the place, yet it was updated enough. The stairs are no joke - but we were warned. True, it was chilly in late November (and the portable bedroom heater didn’t work), but the fireplace warmed the room right up. The outdoor shower is great: plenty of hot water in the bracing air while looking up at the trees. Great getaway, thank you.

Quiet, lovely retreat

I love the winter redwoods, which is why this place appealed, and did not disappoint. It was great to be in the trees and feel a part of nature again. I would say that if you are going to stay here in the winter be prepared for having the bathroom in the downstairs portion of the structure and separate from the kitchen and main living area. I was very glad that I brought slip on shoes and a good heavy sweater as having to go outside and down some stairs to the bathroom would have taken some preparation otherwise. All in all a good place to stay.

Beautiful little cabin in the woods!

Quaint little cabin, perfect for a relaxing outdoor getaway. We had nice weather at the end of October and spent most of our time with the windows and doors all open and on the big deck. Stairs were definitely a workout, hauling up groceries and our suitcases, but completely worth it! Close to the beach, Armstrong Woods, wine tasting and many other cute little towns. Didn’t want to leave but excited to come back some day!

wonderful, rustic, quaint home.

Everything was exactly as described. However, it would have been nice if there were 2 outside lounge chairs. There was only one and one regular chair. The lounge chair was nice for sitting/reading outside but we were 2 people and there was only one lounge. We had a great time and would recommend it without hesitation.
